Hindi pa nga accredited ng DepEd ang homeschool program ng PCSOT.  But they told me that they are working on it.  Ang sabi pa nila sa akin noon, kung hindi pa rin daw sila accredited by the time na mag-graduate ang aking anak sa highschool homeschool program ay pwede naman siyang i-cross enroll sa school ng PSCOT mismo para lang ma-honor yung grades at mga subjects that she took during her homeschooling years.

yes pending pa nga daw. Pero ang dating sa ibang schools parang considered wala pa. Pede rin ienroll sa regular school ng PSCOT kaso the fees are of course much much higher than home based

Wala namang fixed hours pag homeschool.  The actual number of homeschooling hours that you need depends on the curriculum you have chosen and the learning style that suits your child.

May I suggest that early on, work out a general schedule of homeschooling hours for yourself and your child; stick to the same hours everyday. A routine makes it easier to learn and gives structure to the learning experience. It also tells the students that parents are strict about their learning. A routine also allows your child to free his mind from other activities and concentrate on studies. He knows that a particular time is strictly set aside for learning.

^yan ang problem ko. because of the nature of my work wala kaming routine. kahit man lang sa schooling nya magkaron kami ng sense of normalcy. we school anytime we are both free. kung minsan kasi tinatanong ko sya kung gusto nya mag-school. ayaw nya naman. pero usually, niyayaya nya ako. dapat talaga isama ko sya sa routine paggising sa umaga e. although i'm not at my best kung mornings.

@Tigerlily - Sis, ganyan din kami nuong nursery and prep, walang specific schedule, kasi got pregnant and may bagong baby. Nuong pregnant ako, nakakapag-aral pa kami ng morning, pero nuong nagka-baby na, laging after lunch na, while the baby is taking a nap. But she developed the habit of studying on a daily basis kasi I make it a point na hindi kami pumalya ng aral everyday.

@Glamorosa_09 - Sis, yung anak ko Grade 1 na. Nung nursery and prep sya, like I said above, wala kaming routine, although I follow a specific lesson plan. Now that she's in gradeschool, I made this weekly school plan and a daily school plan. Para kapag nag-decide kami na mag-join na sya sa regular classroom, hindi na bago sa kanya. In the weekly plan, included there the different subjects that we plan to tackle in a specific day, say daily Language, Reading, Math and Science, Civics, Values Ed, twice a week computer, once a week music, art and PE, and once a week laboratory/experiment. In the daily plan naman, anduon yung pagka-sunod sunod ng activities sa buong mag-araw, kasama dito yung recess

@glamorosa_09, one year lang akong naghomeschool sa mga bata -- yung isa grade 4 siya noon at yung isa naman sophomore highschool.  We start classes at 800 a.m. and end it at 5:00 p.m.  Parang office hours ba? LOL pero dahil mabilis nilang natatapos ang module nila for the day, maaga ko silang "dini-dismiss."  While a routine is good, flexibility is also necessary.

^OMG! parang office hours nga. Sa traditional school, grade 4 nagsisimulang mag whole day ang classes. Kung ganito ang sked sa CFA, baka hanggang grade 3 ko lang ihomeschool ang baby ko. Not sure pa kung kaya ko ng whole day. Thanks sis!

sis, thanks for sharing your usual homeschooling lesson plans, noted ko yan. By the way hanggang grade 6 mo ihohomeschool baby mo? Nagstart na kayo ng grade 1 mo? Ilang hours kayo a day?

Nagdidiscern ako ngayon kung hanggang kelan ko ihohomeschool ang baby ko... hmm...

we're just starting out. preschool pa lang kami. halos puro read-alouds kasi i chose a literature based curriculum. math and handwriting lang ang mga worksheets and a little coloring. madami ring activities. swerte ko na kung mapaupo ko yan ng 1hr. yung mga activities, singit singit na lang. halos the whole day we are schooling but not really concentrated on schooling. kasi yung iba ginagawa namin kapag nagluluto or naliligo or nagdadrive ako or nasa grocery or nasa mall or kapag naglalaro sya magpeplay lang ako sa youtube ng chinese. pag lumaki-laki pa sya isasama ko na sya sa gardening (sana matutunan ko), maglinis ng bahay - yes, it's also homeschooling.

i have heard others na 4 hours lang ang academics nila. the rest are hands-on na. highschool pa nga yata yun e. basta. do your research. yung time naman is talagang you have to dedicate your time. mapapaikli mo lang yun kung yung time together mo ay magagawa mong schooltime for them. kaya usually it's about play.

this is what's great about homeschooling kasi you can customize it for your kid and the whole family - kasi pwede rin kayo mag-tag team ni hubby in teaching.

Hi sis, thanks for the info. I enrolled my son in our new school here that is using SOT system. Though we were introduced to the kind of system they are using, parang hindi pa rin malinaw sa akin on how they will do it. Sabi kase may mga PACE's daw silang gagamitin & then mastery daw ang isa sa goal nila for the kids. Ask ko lang if effective ba ang ganiton system for all kids? Yong currently enrolled sa SOT school, okay ba? Thanks for the share.

Actually 14 months pa lang  baby ko, nasa research phase pa lang ako ngayon. Right now I'm incorporating productiveparenting, letteroftheweek and supersimplelearning sa araw araw namin.

Last year prep yung daughter ko sa CFA, max of 3 hrs pero di yun tuly tuloy, laging me break...mas ok na yung me break palagi para nasa mood sya kesa pilitin ko tapos wala din naman yung isip nya sa gagawin namin

Ngayon grade 1 sya, ganun pa din balak ko mas matagal lang siguro ng konti

Hi sis qmoonlight.  OK naman yung mga PACE workbooks nila.  Mastery kung mastery talaga kasi paulit-ulit yung lessons until tumatak sa mind noong bata.  Pero siempre you need to guide them para mas madali sa mga kids na maintindihan yung lessons.  For me, I find it effective and my kids liked it as well.  Noong una ako din hindi ko alam kung paano iimplement yung PACE system pero once you get into it, masasanay na rin.

Thanks sis. Yon nga raw mastery ang main goal nila. Their school just started last June 18, parang assessment period yata sila ngayon. Yong son ko parang drained after school kasi andami pala nilang quizzes. I hope this suits him kasi nga he is hyperactive,restless. Sana effective for him.
