Homeschooling..

Yun ang fear mostly ng mga parents about homeschooling, that homeschooled kids are not socialized. I disagree dun sa belief na yun kasi if you are to compare them with regular kids, regular school-going kids are only socialized everyday with their classmates and few teachers over and over again for everyday of their lives. Then, when they go home... they're too tired or has to finish homework to be done. Weekends are for relatives, so they are more limited to meet new people.

Unlike homeschooled kids, because you have so much time with your kids... you go places most of the time even weekdays, meet new people almost everyday, and have so much extra curricular activities and gets to meet with different kinds of kids and adults.

If you are homeschooling, nakakabore if sa house lang kayo everyday. Going to the park, museums, zoo, coffee shops and even meeting with dad/mom's office is a normal homeschool activity.

There was a study made that homeschooled kids are more mature and speak more confidently infront of adults or a crowd because they are more exposed socially. Regular school kids kasi (IMHO) they tend to act their as their schoolmates (kopyahan ng ugali), they are not so exposed to more mature levels ng playmates nila. Well, yan ang napansin ko sa anak ko din na when he moved to a regular school, parang naging mas iyakin (baby-ish) and tend to act like his classmates which he was never like it when we were homeschooling. Kaya, I plan to move him back to homeschool next school year kung ganun lang... hay

i think if you plan to homeschool your kids lalo na kapag higher grade na (grade1 and up) doon ka dapat focused and you need to hire an inhouse helper to do the house chores, cook for you, etc.. and if you have a toddler you need a nanny also

^mag-start pa lang kami this school year. naiinip na nga ang anak ko na magstart kami kaya paunti-unti inuumpisahan ko na yung 1st week. we don't have a nanny or a help. warzone ang bahay namin. LOL!

yung mga naghohomeschool na nakita ko sa ibang bansa, wala silang hh. they assign tasks to their children as early as 3 or 4 years old. at 7 or 8 they can do laundry na. not sure about the others but we are planning on going through it w/o hh. sumasakit kasi ang ulo ko sa kanila e.

I will start din with the homeschooling this year. My son will be in grade 1 prep kung nag regular school kami. We also dont have a helper or nanny. We've been like this for almost 2 years na, i plan to let him do some of the chores para matuto ng responsibility... ligth lang naman. We gave up na sa yaya, hirap maghanap ng someone you can trust and makakasundo.

I attended the recently held HAPI Homeschooling Conference and I really liked the forum where they interviewed homeschooled kids and a homeschooling mom.

Also, look forward to Homeschooling Solutions to be launched soon... I don't know all the things that will offer but I am sure it will be a resource for homeschooling supplies. Sabi ko nga, sana pati playdate venue, pwede rin sya eh, hehe

until now, wala pang reply sakin yung TMA. I emailed them and messaged them on facebook. sumagot naman na my details are with their consultant and will be contacting me soon. but it's almost two weeks wala pa din. i just asked when the next orientation will be but i guess dapat ata consultant ang kakausap syo. i dunno. i also emailed one of their representative but i got the same reply. i'm so excited pa naman to enroll my child in their program. sa mga taga TMA dito, how did the enrollment process go?

Homeschooled my kids for one year since hubby and I are both out of the country  and we want them to be with us but had to bring them back home for security reasons.

Actually OK na OK ito at mas gusto ko ang homeschool kesa sa regular school kasi matutukan mo talaga yung studies ng mga bata, as in they would be able to fully grasp the lesson before they move on to the next level/module.  At the same time, nare-refresh din kami sa aming mga lessons way back when and we learn something new.  How fast they can finish one module would depend entirely on the kids' pace of learning.  Wala akong makitang disadvantage nito.  The kids can learn more kasi hindi siya structured -- what I mean is, the parent as mentor can incorporate other lessons during the course, time permitting.  You get to bond more with the children and learn things together.  They learn to be disciplined too and study on their own pero siempre they need to be supervised pa rin.  It is even cheaper compared to enrolling a kid in a regular school -- walang uniform, school bus, walang stress for projects na kailangan ang mga materials the following day, mababa ang tuition fees, walang additional charges (kung ano ang binayaran mo the first time, yun na yun), the kids can sleep longer during the day.  Both sides panalo!

Although some would opine that the socialization skills of homeschooled kids would not be honed, I beg to disagree.  The kids and the mentor could go to interactive museums, theaters, parks, etc. and still make new friends and acquaintances.  Sabi ko nga sa sarili ko, sana noon ko pa sila hinome school.  Mas better kung one parent/mentor is a stay at home person para mas natutukan niya ang progress ng bata.

Hi,Any feedback re School of Tomorrow system? Supposedly I will enroll my son for homeschooling, but since a few steps away lang ang school sa house namin & he passed the diagnostic test so the teacher suggested na sa school nalang siya. He is the hyperactive type kasi at hindi mapakali na walang ginagawa. This is the first time in our town with this kind of system. Anyone who had their child enrolled in this kind of education?

Ay kakatuwa naman. Na receive mo na sis yung schedule for the 1st quarter? Dami rin pala activities. When do we get their ID and P.E uniform?
May field trip na agad sila this July sa Mind Museum 

Kinakabahan and excited ako at the same time. I hope maging ok ang ang aming first year of homeschooling.

Hello po.. just new with this site..and happy to fine some other homesschooler mom ...bago lang din kasi kami sa CFA..

i'm so excited waiting for our books and curriculum to arrive next month. We're starting school year this june. if in case all goes smoothly and everyone in our our family is happy (unfortunately, not all is happy with our decision. they thought i'm joking the first time i told them!) after a year, maybe we could continue until elementary na rin.

tanong ko lang paano ang first communion? (not sure if i've asked that question here already).

also, there are discounts for students din if they show their ID's. ano kaya ang ID na ipapakita ko if we'd be homeschooling?

sis, my kid was enrolled in Phil christian school of tomorrow (home school) from level  1 to 3. I wanted to transfer my kid this school year to a regular school na so he can get adjusted to a normal school. Lo and behold, wala pala silang permit sa Deped for their home based! Buti na lang may ibang school na tumatanggap pa rin from home based school so word of caution lang mga sis, check the school first in Deped kung may permit for home based otherwise magkakaproblem kayo later on for accreditation.

I was able to enroll him pala sa Grade 4 at perpetual (8 y/o)

^yes, you will need to make sure of that if the school you wish to transfer to requires a deped accredited former school. meron naman school na open for homeschoolers and meron din hindi. from my obervation lang naman, most homeschoolers prefer the deped accredited curriculums kasi siguro mas madali mag-enrol? pero meron pa rin who homeschool independently. right now we are homeschooling independently kasi preschool pa lang naman. pinag-iisipan ko pa kung next year ganito pa rin. research, research....
