i'm so excited waiting for our books and curriculum to arrive next month. We're starting school year this june. if in case all goes smoothly and everyone in our our family is happy (unfortunately, not all is happy with our decision. they thought i'm joking the first time i told them!) after a year, maybe we could continue until elementary na rin.

tanong ko lang paano ang first communion? (not sure if i've asked that question here already).

also, there are discounts for students din if they show their ID's. ano kaya ang ID na ipapakita ko if we'd be homeschooling?

True, that was my problem with my eldest, like museums require an ID for student discount. Honestly, I wonder why they require the ID, because kids naman look like kids diba, so dapat automatic ang discount. 

Siguro, for first communion, you can ask your parish? I'm a protestant, and our first communion was through our church (kasi I went to a Catholic school) and did our catechism class before the first communion.

^naku ako din! thanks for introducing me to sonlight. sana lang hindi tinanggal nun pobox sa original box ng sonlight. kasi may iba pa kami order na pina-consolidate namin. gusto ko gawin din castle yun box e. hehe!

^will surely do! super excited na rin ako that i try not to think about it. we ordered p4/5 with grade k readers, a reason for handwriting k and singapore math k. what did you order before? and did you continue homeschooling ice after a year? (not sure pero parang nabasa ko before that you enrolled him into big school na?!)

they made several changes to the curriculum for this year. buti na lang di ko hinintay kundi mamuti mata ko kasi end of april pa pala nila ma-ship. e expecting the box by end of april na since moving na ang box according to my tracking number.

I ordered the P4/5 with Readers K, Handwriting w/o tears, Singapore Math K. Same tayo except for Handwriting.

Ice went to Montessori after a year because I had horrible yayas sa twins (months old lang noon) then sumabay pa ang major project sa work (I work at home). Ice loves his school and he wants to go there till Grade 1 daw. Mas mahirap ibalik sa homeschool pag big kids na e.

I miss homeschooling him kasi we had so much fun talaga! Same effort lang ang ginawa ko now that he's in regular school. Mas magastos! (Tuition, books, baon, school bus).

Pero, I am doing tot school with the twins who are 27 months and maipapasa kopa yung P4/5 na curriculum ni Ice when the twins are 3 years old na.

SOnlight gave me a pendant na naiyak naman ako when I got it. I don't know if same tayo ng gift from them, but I'm sure you'll get a mommy gift from them too.

Btw, after a year nakareceive pa ako ng new rare book from SOnlight for free! It's worth $22.00 they just sent it to me. It's a happy experience. Enjoy niyo yung mga trips niyo kasi you can do homeschool at the park or even at the coffee shop.

^wow. ang dami mo naman gifts. included in the core is a free tote bag ($20) and free core membership. nalimutan ko lang how much yung membership. dati yata free lang yun?

super na-excite pa ako lalo. sana end of april na. and hopefully, everything works out well. you know we're almost weaning, but it's like breastfeeding all over again! kasi i only have support from my husband (really really appreciate it, pero mas masaya sana kung lahat). pero dahil mas taboo or out of the norm sya compared to breastfeding, mag-uumpisa pa lang ako, my family is already questioning my ability. they all mean well for sure. ang hirap lang talaga mag-explain. magrant ba daw? haha!

anyways, i have been praying for it. sana talaga all goes well for our family.

It will all go well, sis. Especially if you really decide wholeheartedly about homeschooling.

Do take it one day at a time. Sa una, parang akala mo mahirap (buti nga with Sonlight, lahat naka latag na sa iyo). But, I guarantee you... once you naka Week 6 na kayo and still you are consistently doing it - wala nang makakahinto sa iyo. Naka bwelo na kayo for it.

I have had so many hear says from families and friends about homeschool. Madaming nagsasabi na paano daw matututo if ako lang. Or, even wala na daw akong time and the usual na wala naman daw social life ang batang homeschooler. Which, none of it is true and I can prove that to be wrong in many ways... mahaba lang na talakayan iyan.

Even when people would ask my kid, saan ang school niya. Pahirapan kasi, minsan ang mga lolas meron silang pride pag ang mga bata ay nag private schooling. Yan din sis, ang ituro mo sa kid mo. That when somebody asks them what school they go to... na I am in homeschool. Minsan nga, my son made a name to his homeschool.. "Pirate School" daw. hahaha! So, pag may nagtanong.. he says, he goes to "Pirate School". O diba, di na nila matanong kung saan kasi basta yun na yung sabi ng bata.

I am really so proud of homeschooling families. Tama ka, parang breastfeeding din ulit yan. Sa simula akala mo mahirap na halos you'll give up na. Once, you and the baby gets used to it... manhid na kayo at kahit anong position pa alam mo na! hahaha!

Hi mga sis I'm thinking of supplementing my son with advance lessons in prior to his regular schooling. Since routine activities are not suited for him. I could teach him sana to further develop his skills.  Meron ba kayong masusugest na programs. ?TIA

I'm planning to home school my son. He's 8 y.o. now. He's diagnosed with functional autism. He's doing good in school, in fact he knows how to read, can only speak in english. After his kindergarten I enrolled him sa SPED ng DepEd. His teacher wants him to join grade1 in June as in sa regular class. My problem is he's the type na walang patience mag hintay and makinig sa teachers, as he is into one on one with her teacher sa SPED, though I would love to para ma develop ang social skills niya but am afraid as he is really hyperactive. Plus he can't understand bisaya or tagalog kahit nasa mindanao kami,kasi until 3 he can't talk but after that makapagsalita na siya pero english na kasi nga nasa computer and cartoon network nakatutok palagi. I want to give him the right education he deserves. Pwede ba ito for special children? My son is able and capable to read, write and speak. He's just hyperactive. Any thoughts? What home school is the best? and affordable. thanks sisses..

^actually, homeschooling is perfect for your child because it can be customized according to your child's needs. kung advanced sya sa reading, you can go to the next level. if delayed sya in another area, you can prolong the level until he gets it. if he is bored on a subject, you can make it fun for him.

best and affordable curriculum will depend on what you need. no one can tell you that because like i said, homeschooling is customized for your kid. read, research and talk to more homeschoolers. best if you can meet homeschoolers in your area. hope this helps sis!

Thanks so much sis. Actually there will be a school of tomorrow affiliate to open in June, the administrator I talked to suggest a homeschooling for my son. And I've read some forums that gave positive feedback. I hope sis I can afford the fees. :-) Thanks again.

I will be enrolling my son at CFA (Catholic Filipino Academy). One of the coordinators there, who is also homeschooling her 2 kids has a son that has ASD.
Are you from Manila sis qmoonlight?

I finally made up my mind and i'm planning to homeschool my 3.7 year old daughter. I already emailed CFA and TMA, just waiting for there response. I plan to attend din yung 4th Philippine Homeschool Conference sa Saturday sa St. Francis Square. I'm really excited.

Hi sis,no am not from Manila. Nasa Zamboanga ako. Actually may newly open school dito sa amin yong School of Tomorrow ang gamit nilang system, they said I can home school my son but am afraid kasi he needs to socialize talaga as that is the main factor na madevelop social skills niya. I know that he can't fit in talaga sa conventional school. Lalo na ngayon mandated na ang pag teach by using dialect from grades 1-3.
