My husband is an American, been together for 4 years, a year being married. Share ko Lang mga pinagdaanan namin:
- we met in Dubai; I was based there for work, and he was consulted for a few days by his friend to troubleshoot the electrical prob of the burj al Arab. It was attraction at first sight sa airport. Most of our courtship happened online kasi he was flying out that day, and we were picking up a friend from the airport
-as soon as he landed in the US, he emailed me. From The time I received his email up until eight months later, we never logged off nor stopped talking (text, ym, phone calls) he racked up a phone bill of $800+ so we decided to just IM more instead (so if the guy is really interested with you, he will find a way to talk to you, kahit pa magtago sa toilet kasi bawal mag cp sa work)
-he is due to fly to Greece with his friends feb of 2009, he cancelled thatnflight and he booked another flight to the Philippines instead to see me when I go home for a vacation sometime in may of that year (if the guy is really serious about you, he will do everything to meet your folks, with genuine interest)
-on our second trip to the Philippines, he decided to marry me. No proposal, just gave me a ring. His reason: he's not giving me a chance to say no lol! (if the guy really wants you, he will not only say it, he will prove it)
-on our 2010 vacation, we got married
So IMO, it's not just about the guy's culture that couples should mind, the guy should also consider ours. It's a relationship after all, not a biz arrangement where the one who's got more into the deal is at a more advantage. Don't make excuses for the guy just because "he's not a Filipino eh". Same di Lang yan Na may mga loko din, may mga nagpapalusot why Hindi makatext or what. Why Hindi makabisita, etc. Sabi nga ng isang sis natin, a relationship with a foreigner is an adventure. It is also an adventure for them to date us. So meet halfway. Mas masaya yon. Sorry Kung napahaba, peace!
