As for your question, sealants vs fillings, pag fillings, we usually have a cavity na so may sira na yung ipin. What we do is we make the hole bigger para malinis ng mabuti yung cavity and we fill it up with the filling material.

Pag sealants, wala pang sira yung ipin. We just apply it sa grooves ng molars/ bagang as prevention bago ito masira.

puros pasta naman dati,,isip ko mag 5 na siya baka masira na yun molar teeth niya,,kailangan iparoot canal if ever

I need lang your inputs. My daughter (4yo) had her first dentist experience last Saturday at Dental Town in Alabang. The pedia-dentist is Dr. Elaine Sison-Manzanero and she recommended enameloplasty for my kid's 2 upper front teeth due to cavities in between. Is this ok? She also mentioned that she will have to do a little drilling to widen the space so that ma-lessen ang pag-stick ng food dun sa part  na yun.

Another option kasi is to put medicine (I forgot lang what exactly yun) to kill the bacteria pero ang downside, magkakaroon ng discoloration.

Which is better? I don't think my daughter will have any problems with the drilling kasi never sya natakot sa dentist. Super bait nga nya so no fuss.

Budget lang kasi iniisip ko

The dentist from tooth kingdom advised us na root canal na daw yung 2 na sira para malinis (kasi black na siya) and ma fill (fillings ata gagawin dun) then the rest either root canal din (drilling and filling) or pasta lang. Roughly she qouted us 60k for the procedure including IV sedation.

Now i have two concerns, is IV sedation really safe for a two year old? pano ba procedure nun? parents ko kasi against dun (alam mo na, old school) im really scared baka may effect un kay baby ko after gawin.

2nd, meron bang clinic aside from tooth kingdom na mura sa ganung procedure? 60k is a huge amount for us. I mean carry naman pero kung may mas mura pa dun nalang sana kami. I read here na okay sa tooth fairy? any idea?

Well, it's hard to comment since I didn't personally see your kid. But under normal circumstances, enameloplasty is not the first treatment of choice for decay in between teeth. Filling talaga ang first choice. You may want to ask why filling isn't an option for your kid's case.

Now you mentioned na another option is to put a medication to "kill the bacteria"-- I am assuming that it is same as sedation. If ma-clarify mo sa dentist ng anak mo that it is indeed sedation, then it means that the nerve of the tooth is already damaged and baby root canal (pulptomy or pulpectomy) or extraction are the options.

1. IM/IV sedation is safe naman for young children. Of course, kelangan pa rin to obtain medical clearance from your child's pedia to make sure that the child has no condition that can contraindicate the sedation procedure. I think I gave an extensive explanation about IM/IV sedation in this thread in the past. Paki search na lang

2. Did the dentist say that the 60K is just for RCT of 2 teeth plus the sedation? Kasi the anesthesiologist who will do the sedation process charges around 8k to 15k. Then the RCT for 2 teeth may be around 3k to 10k each tooth. Tapos ng RCT, the dentist would usually put a crown around the teeth so that's around 4k to 10k each depending on the material used (usually metal or composite). So subtotal is 55k---that's an estimate lang ha?

What the dentist does kasi is they try to do all the treatment needed by the child while he/she is still sedated. This is done--hindi para perahan kayo or to charge you more---but sayang kasi to sedate the child tapos 1 or 2 teeth lang ang gagawin. Kesa naman i-sedate yung bata everytime may extensive procedure na gagawin sa kanya--that's mas magastos plus we don't want to increase the exposure of the child to anesthesia.

Mga sis, ask ko lang how much ba magpapasta sa mga pediatric dentist? Pinacheck ko sa dentist yung 2-year old ko, dami raw kelangan pastahan and dapat di na raw patagalin at mabilis daw lumala ang sira sa ngipin ng bata.

Nag-inquire kami sa PDCP, di raw sila nagbibigay ng quotation over the phone.

Baka may ma-suggest kayo kung saan mura maningil around qc area. Thanks!

We've been to Dr. Ed Vismanos' clinic but I'm looking for a dentist closer to our area (Commonwealth).

Also, my kid is very cooperative when we go for doctor check-ups, etc. Would you recommend we still see a pediatric dentist or can we go to a GP instead?

Any feedback about Dr. Garret Robles? He's the one closest to our area and he charges cheap when you go to his clinic in Philcoa (according to him the clinic caters to the community thus the cheap rate).

Mahirap mag-"diagnose" without seeing the patient personally. Black spots on the gums may be a manifesation of a LOT of conditions.

Ang pagkakaalam ko, the pediatric dentists do not hold "personal clinics" in PCMC. They treat patients in the pediatric dentistry section of the hospital.

my 1 year old baby recently had sealant on her 4 upper teeth, may konting sira na kc due to milk carries daw....ngayon suggetst ng dentist yung metal cap na silver, protection daw yun,,, marami nga akong nakikitang kids na may metal cap...looks cute nga eh hehe

ano mga advantage at disadvantage non....anyone here na may idea nun?
