...my story...my menstrual cycle was irregular, i will sometimes get my period in a month or 2 or 3..it was a normal day for me when i felt different with my moods and my body,i suspect i was pregnant i bought pregnancy kit for the heck of it...voila!!! 2 lines i was shocked then took another preg.kit..i went back to the things i did for the past 2 months..i drank(fundador just to be specific, which is my fave),smoke, clubbing almost every night, dieting by starving my self,8cups of coffee a day(sweet and black),stayed up late etc. that's prior to my unplanned pregnancy..when i found out i was pregnant,i went straight to the pharmacy and bought folic acid,no one has prescribed me this but ive read a couple of books about healthy benefits from folic acid though....
after 9 months i delivered a baby with an incomplete bilateral cleftlip and palate..no one was able to explain to me what causes it,some doctors says its genetics and some doc's says its the mommy's nutrition prior to pregnancy...and in my own opinion the reason why it was "incomplete" cleftlip  after my unhealthy lifestyle was because of folic acid..i have this feeling that folic acid helped my baby's development, her cleft lip didn't turned into complete bilateral..but no matter what my husband and i are thankful for having her..she changed our life,my priorities in life. ;)

hmm..i must say though that it was just my idea..hihi ive read during my research on my LO's cleftlip that the face structure develops at around 6 to 8weeks of pregnancy..im not sure about it though, folic acid might helped my LO's development during those times since i was living an unhealthy lifestyle  for 2months not knowing that i am pregnant...if you'll look closer to my LO's birth defect you'd notice that it was almost going from incomplete to complete bilateral cleft. i dont know it was just my thoughts about it ;)

^^ sis, I think hindi dahil sa folic acid yun. kasi Folic acid helps the brain development of iyiur baby and to avoid birth deficiency. the first trimestral of pregnancy is very delicate, dun nag fform yung babay kaya nga iniinum yung folic acid before pregnancy until 1st trime. =) Folicare is very effective for me and I heard they have this 20% discount if you buy directly to their office at ortigas. =) sounds good! 7.50 lang siya per capsule. try niyo mga sis.

Sabi ng OB ko, if we are planning to get pregnant dapat daw inom na tayo ng folic acid para maiwasan yung problem sa brain development ng baby as well as yung cleft lip and palate tapos titigil ata after 3 to 4 months kapag buntis k n (di ko hehe)?. Ang nireseta sa akin ay folicare...
