If just for running I'm an Asics fan. Check also what's your gait/running style. They have plenty styles to suit your running needs.

I'm an asics fan too. Dati akong New Balance fan. as in madami na akong biniling New Balance pero after trying Asics. Boom! mas hiyang ako sa asics. but it doesnt mean panget na ang new balance.

ang mahalaga, eh it fits you correctly, it matches your feet, and cushions you properly.

the rest goes to training, technique, diet..etc lol

Correct ka diyan sis, airborne!  Most important is your gait/running style.  I went to a speciaist running shop and sabi ako ay half pronate/half flat foot, hehe!  Daming nilabas na sapatos, Asics were the best, cute pa! :)

Keep those suggestions coming please, kasi this is the only reason why I am not starting my gym kasi I do not have running shoes yet. Thank you in advance.

I have tried Adidas, New Balance and Mizuno. I was happier with Adidas, maybe because the pair I got was really for pronators, while my Mizunos (creation 10) and NB were for neutral runners. Important pala talaga na you get the shoes that are right for you, otherwise, sasakit ang feet mo, or worse, you'll end up getting injured.  I really want to try Asics. Been hearing lots of good feedback.

Sa mga Asics users, what particular model would you recommend for pronators like me? Thanks.

For running gait analysis, I suggest you try the SecondWind Store at Home Depot or Maginhawa UP Village.

pwede din magpa gait analysis sa Runnr sa Bonifacio High Street.:)

yung prices ba ng SecondWind, mas mataas kesa sa stores mismo? yung sa Runnr kasi mas mahal eh.

I went to both runnr and secondwind for gait analysis, but i was more impressed with how they analyzed my gait at secondwind. Si hector (the shoe guru who worked for nike) or jeremy kasi talaga yung nag-aanalyze and they are avid runners as well.

The prices of their shoes are the same with other stores, although they are cheaper now because they have an ongoing sale.:) Asics shoes are 30% off and some New Balance shoes are 15-10% less. :)

same naman yung results although mas maraming input from sila hector. plus because they are runners, i was able to ask them lots of tips about running, running shoes, etc. :) The way they analyze your gait kasi, they they try to get to know you like your preferences in shoes, running history, running shoes history and injuries if ever. Then they would recommend (after the gait analysis of course).:)

Sarap pumunta doon pero tempting to buy.:) When I went there, hindi naman ako bumili, but they're cool with it naman.:) i am waiting for my bonus so that I can finally get my hands (and feet) on those asics:)

If you want lang a guide to knowing your gait go to Runners World.com to find out. Good help yan to me, never had my gait personally analyzed. Then through trial and error I know what style Asics suits me. So if you know what you need na na, if you can order/make pabili you're Asics abroad it's much cheaper than here and you get newer styles pa. The ones I see here are older or discontinued models na at very konti to choose from sa Women's, sa men's mas marami.

But thanks to all the tips here, one of these days will go to Second Wind to get my gait properly analyzed.

thanks, airborne. I actually tried runnersworld too. I think am more of a shoe addict more than I am a running addict.hehe.:)

Mizunos and asics are both nice. I am also confused because I like them both, although mizunos are definitely cheaper.:) My runner friends prefer asics over mizunos, though.:)

I am an overpronator so I am thinking of getting either the mizuno wave inspire or the asics GT 2140 or Gel Kayano.:)

Any feedback from the others?

honestly, if you can afford, buy all that you can afford. once nakita mo na yung pair na bagay sa paa mo, walang tatalo sa peace of mind that comes with it.

magastos lang talaga.

i also buy the latest ones. and i dont buy rubbers shoes that are being sold at discount prices. why? parang may expiration kasi ang rubber and yung glue na ginagamit nila. most often, yung mga discounted ay yung matagal nang nasa stock. but then again kung gamit na gamit mo ang sapatos mo, you'll change shoes after 6-8 months or depende kung gaano na ka compressed yung rubber sole.

mas mataas ang percentage na ma injury ka na kung compressed na yung sole (shock absorbing layers) .
unless siguro na, you're one of the few gifted na, matibay ang paa and bio mechanically efficient.

He-he! gets ko yan sis. The 1140's and 2140's are the bestsellers ng line na ito cos it's great for begginner runners. I have the 2130's naman. I'm a neutral runner but I still appreciate the stability these shoes have over their styles for neutral runners.

Me naman it's worth researching your shoe, kasi if you're really going to put in the trime and get serious with running a shoe that's going to give you pain or is uncomfortable is not going to make enjoy your run.

Go to Asics.com to see all the new/current styles out now for running. Like now they have the 1150's and 1250's already. But since these are upgrades of an existing line I don't mind getting the older models.

Sis airborne, how did you find the 2030s?  Ako rin, I actually don't mind buying or using older models. In fact, there have been several times when the older models are better than their updated ones (based on the reviews in runnersworld).  I really like my adidas response control 4 but they are 3 years old and need retiring, so I am on the lookout for a good replacement.

My first reaction lang when I put them on medyo firm, but galing ako sa neutral style running shoes nila that's very soft. But once I ran in them na, wow! big change kasi it's so STABLE w/c I really appreciate, and you don't even notice how firm it is na. So at this point it depends how much stability or control you really need. Ako not much, any firmer di ko na gusto. You can also consider the 1140's.

If your a regular runner na they say it's better to have 2 pairs of running shoes to rotate, it's not good to wear your shoes for 2 straight runs, allow a day for the rubber to decompress, so it's much more comfortable on your next run. If you run a few x/week then 1 pair will do.

Thanks again. I run 3x a week and only use one pair of shoes.Believe it or not, I bought a pair of Mizuno Wave Creation and Adidas Supernova Sequence in a matter of a month, and sold them in less than a month too (for just 1k each) because hindi hiyang sa akin. Having said that, I am kind of scared to spend on a new pair kasi baka magkamali na naman ako.:(  So i am still in the process of researching. Haaay.
