Up to a certain point, mas mataas ang glasses compared to contact lens. Note what they said: " OK pa " doesn't mean "exactong ganun talaga". See an ophthalmologist.

kwento ko lang.. na-sad naman ako sa story ng friend ko.
she has her screening last saturday for Lasik... kaso the result is, kahit maglasik sya and cross something.. di pa rin maibabalik sa 20/20 ang vision nya :(

i've done backreadinh pero wala pa nagpopost same with my situation. eto na-eencounter ko as of now at madalas mangyare. masakit eye balls ko, lalo na pagpinipindot then pag tumitingin-tingin ako masakit tsaka pag close ko eyes ko.pati ulo sumasakit. yung nerves pag nakapikit umbok sya. idk what's happening to me. hindi ko na rin mabasa ng malayo mga nakasulat sa board blurred. mahilog ako magbasa sa computer or tab minsan patay yung ilaw. then pag galing ko school naghihilamos ako mukha tapos minumulat ko mata sa tubig. sabi baka pasma? hindi naman kumukurap ng kusa mata ko.

@Dr. Richie, I also need your advice regarding my case. Ako naman, nagkaroon ako ng small skin discharge just right beside the corner of my eyes, but hindi mismo sa eyes as encircled here:

http://www.phungdinhdung.com/Studies_paper/face_modeling_images/20_eye_far_corner.jpg

Before this happens, napansin ko yung hair eye lash ko, tumusok sa skin at pumasok and eventually, I was able to pull it out but then parang di na nag close yung very small incision na yun and nagkakaroon ako ng white discharge doon but it doesn't come out on its own. Mapapansin na lang that my eye corner skin is thickening so I have to press the discharge out. I've asked ENT, dermas, lahat sila they are referring me to go visit an eye doctor. Any specific eye doctor who specializes in this kind of issue?

@ilovejdy
it really depends on what EXACTLY is happening. If it's just the conjunctva, then ibrite would work.

@juicy
The are other ways different from Lasik

@i.love.siomai
once again....see you eye doctor and find out once and for all.

@WanderingShinobi
you may see me.

doc ask ko lang po opinion nyo. we visited two ophthas. prob po ng brother ko was redness of right eye. 2 weeks po yun nangyari on and off and ang last ay nung natapat ang aircon sa kanya sa car. sa first ophtha ang sabi may parang cyst na dahil daw sa dumi, need alisin and needed din daw po itest ang level of dryness ng eyes niya which will cost p2500. kung hindi raw maalis ang cyst na yun, hindi titigil ang redness. malabo rin po mata ng brother ko and nung inask ko kamusta po ang grado niya tumaas ba at kung okay pa glasses nya as of present dahil nagsnellen naman sila, hindi niya raw masasagot. need daw muna gawin yung sinasabi niyang procedure. wala rin siya binigay na eyedrops. nagconsult po kami sa iba at we did not mention kung ano ang sinabi ng first ophtha dahil ayaw namin makaoffend dahil colleague niya pa rin yun. si second ophtha walang binanggit na may cyst. marumi lang daw po dahil sa eyelashes at may onting dryness. nagbigay siya ng eyedrops and nasabi niyang okay pa ang glasses ng brother ko despite na 3yrs old na eyeglasses niya. and be back after 1mo. doc needed ba talaga yung sinabi ni ophtha1 na need itest level of eye dryness or okay na po management ni ophtha2 by means of eyedrops and have ff up check up after a month? thank you po..

i consulted an optha recently and she said I have slight (very slight) astigmatism and my grade is low.

She gave me prescription for glasses but she does not require it as of now.

You think it's good to wear one?

Pinguecula / Pterygium
« Reply #150 on: August 21, 2013, 02:00:28 am »
Mga sis nagkaroon ba kau nito?

--
pinguecula is a yellowish patch or bump on the conjunctiva, near the cornea. It most often appears on the side of the eye closest to the nose. It is a change in the normal tissue that results in a deposit of protein, fat and/or calcium. It is similar to a callus on the skin.

pterygium is a triangular-shaped growth of fleshy tissue on the white of the eye that eventually extends over the cornea. This growth may remain small or grow large enough to interfere with vision. A pterygium can often develop from a pinguecula.

Some pterygia may become red and swollen on occasion, and some may become large or thick, making you feel like you have something in your eye. If a pterygium is large enough, it can actually affect the shape of the cornea’s surface, leading to astigmatism.

I have a concern, meron akong eyeglass pero occassional ko lang ginagamit. Twing sa class lang, an hour to hour and  half tapos tatanggalin ko for 5-15 mins kung may classes. Bakit tumataas pa din yung grado ko? Can I prevent it from getting high? Medyo nahihirapan na kasi ako and my mom say na kung mag gaglass ako lagi, mas tataas daw grado ko.

Just in case you are still looking for an opthalmologist, you can visit dr. victor yap at QC Eye Center.  He treated my staff's eye problem, and that of his uncle.

^^ I think you can go to an optometrist so your eyes can be checked.  Baka naman you did not get the correct grade.  My mom's family actually owns optical shops,
but she is now retired.

That is a MYTH. It is not proven that constantly wearing eye glasses will make your eye grade higher. It will not magically LOWER your grade permanently as well.

There is no scientifically proven way of PERMANENTLY reducing the normal eye grade without surgical intervention.

Hope this helps :)

I use -8.00 lenses. Whenever I get my eyes checked sabi ng doc mataas na. At di parin ako nakakameet ng mas mataas ang grado or somewhere near that. I'm a bit worried.

@missreese

If ALL you are interested in is the grade of your eye and not any other potential problem of the eye, then usually, an optometrist is all you need. If,by any chance, you do have other problems in the eye, then you had best see an ophthalmologist. It will save you a visit.

hi sis dr. ritchie, glad to see a thread like this and hihingi na din ako ng advise. this is about my 4 year old son. last saturday afternoon ko po na notice na pa pikit pikit eyes ng anak ko. inisip ko antok lang kaya pinatulog ko baka pagod lang . pero napansin ko din na iba pag kurap ng mata nia. nag squint left eye muna then right eye tapos both eyes na parang me nakaka distract sa kanya. pero pasumpong sumpong lang po. kahapon ko po pina check up sa opthal. sabi nia namumula daw sa eyelid.. pwede daw bacterial infection or allergic reaction. nag reseta siya ang maxoptic for 1 week (1 drop per eye 4 times a day). sobra lang po akong worried dun sa pag squint ng eyes nia. parang mannerism. please advise po. thanks in advance.
