me too! pa pm po ng rates...

I have a prob rin kc.. I have a tooth sa left side na nakikita sya pag.nagsmile...movable na sya, wala naman sira.. I just don't know if nasa loob yung sira pero the tooth itself buo pa... i feel pain minsan,  sometimes nagsosore pa yung gums below it...
I consulted a dentist before, and I was told that ang gagawin daw ay lilinisan yung paligid ng tooth, 3k ang binigay na price..pero di raw sure if maagapan ang magiging loose na raw yun kapit ng tooth... I didn't push through the procedure kc di rin  daw sure if maayos pa..

pwede ko kaya ipa-root canal nalang?? does this work sa ngipin na malapit sa front??? I really wanted to save this tooth..ayokong maging bungal pagnagsmile...   ;) i am also afraid of tooth implants..yayks!

Sis if I were in your situation, I'd go for the lilinisan muna yung tooth kahit hindi sure ang result. I'll take my chance on that. If you go for a root canal kasi eventually the tooth will be extracted. Siguro after 5-10 years. Not sure. Whereas kung ma-save pa sya without root canal and you really take care of it then you can have the tooth longer.  ;D

naiinis ako, wala pa atang 1 year ng iroot canal yung molar ko eh may crack na agad. this is my 2nd rct.   yung 1st rct ko sa kabilang side eh tuluyang nagcrack kaya pinabunot ko na.

nakakadisappoint lang ang rct. ito nga di na ko kumakain ng matitigas na food. at most of the times, i chew on the opposite side para di masyado maapektuhan yung side na may rct. hay, this is just waiting to fully crack, then eventually bunot.

(like what happened on my 1st rct)

so iba pala ang root canal sa crown lang? i thought crown is to follow after the rct? medyo nalilito po ako.

sumakit tooth ko kasi may butas pero after pasta, di na sya talaga sumakit. after a month natanggal ang pasta then sumakit na uli so pagbalik ko sa dentist offer nya crown na. kahapon pinaliit nya yun tooth para maipasok ang crown.now nkatemporary crown ako. bukas balik ko para ikabit ang porcelain crown. He charged me P2500. mura na daw yun?

masakit sya yesterday after mawala anesthesia.sasakit pa kaya ito uli after makabit yun porcelain?

^^ Yes sis, they're different. In my case, my dentist suggested that I have my molar crowned kasi sobrang laki na ng pasta. To prevent, the tooth from breaking in the future, ika-crown na namin. Fillings/pasta that are too large tends to weaken the teeth. Mura na yung 2,500 sis. But if I were you, I'd asked my dentist the materials he will use. My new dentist is high-end and for standard PFM ~8-9k ang singil nya. I chose Captek crown. It's a variation of PFM but more expensive.

^Sis, try asking your dentist or ask for a second opinion. In my case, parang naka-3rd opinion pa ako. Then I found my current dentist and I feel that I am in good hands. Pakiramdam ko nga kung sya ang dentist ko from the start, di na kakailanganin pang i-crown ang ngipin ko. Act fast sis. From what I know, tooth that have undergone RCT are weak. Baka di na kayanin.

well, in case na di na to kayanin, for sure magbbreak din eventually at ipapa bunot ko na lang. then, ipapa jacket ko na lang. ito yung parang bridge diba. may options pa rin! haha  mahal lang! LOL

^Yes you can opt for a bridge. Problem ko sa bridge is the dentist will have to trim 2 teeth beside the missing tooth so they can anchor the bridge. Kumbaga naka-crown yung 2 tooth mo. Ok lang sana if talagang ika-crown sila but if no sayang naman yung healthy teeth. But that's just me. For a time na-obssess ako sa crown kaya I've read a lot of articles about it. Syempre damay na ang RCT and bridge since they have a connection. But it's still best to ask your dentist for options.

I once read in a forum that it's much more expensive to have a tooth extracted. Sure tooth extraction itself is cheap but the maintenance is what makes it expensive. Ideally you need to replace your bridges and dentures every 4-6 years. So kung bata ka pa, mahal nga sya. A crown can last 10-15 years. Kung pure metal pa yan, it can last you 20-50 years.  ;D

kasi from what I read, magiging brittle lalo ang ipin and eventually, masisira din after 3 years pag nagparootcanal.

What is the difference pala between permanent fillings and temporary fillings (besides na permanent and temporary part)

kasi when I go to dentists, they say pasta lang or filling lang or tooth bonding.
Covered sa healthcard ang unlimited temporary fillings ko, if same lang sya sa permanent filling, might as well temporary na lang.

I was charged 400p last time by Smile Design clinic for a pasta, my fault that I did not ask if it was permanent or temporary

but how true is it na nakakabaho daw ng hininga ang crown? and one needs a maintenance cleanup for that, like every year daw.  yet,the worst thing that can happen sa crown is yung nangingitim na gums. parang kay regine v! aww, ayoko nun parang bangkay. hehe

^Ewan ko sis kung nakakabaho. Bukas pa lang ako ipeprepare. Fresh pa.  ;D Siguro if not properly done baka bumaho. Sis, kahit naman walang crown, we need to visit the dentist twice a year. Nangingitim ang gums because nag-ooxidize yung metal ng crown if you have a standard PFM or metal crown. But if you have an all-porcelain or gold crown, di sya mangingitim.  ;D

^^Sis kaycee, if the tooth is already dead, you have to undergo RCT or tooth extraction. Di ko lang alam if a dead nerve equates to a dead tooth.  :( Temporary fillings? Maybe they're weaker. Never pa kong nalagyan nyan. ;)

PFM - Porcelain Fused to Metal. It's one of the materials used for crowns aka "jackets"

^If the tooth that needs RCT is a molar (i.e. upper so at least 3-4 roots expected), then all 3 roots should be treated.
