root cannal vs tooth extraction

To answer the subject: Hanggat kayang isave, i will opt to Root canal

Nung matanggal ang pasta ng bagang ko, I immediately go to my sisters' dentist where she had her braces a few years ago na malapit sa amin (malayo kasi ang dentist ko and according to my sister ok naman sila). She suggested na i exray both ang right upper bagang na nasiraan ng pasta at ang left upper bagang na sira, so as the result, yung right bagang she suggested i crown (buti di pa abot sa root ang sira) and yung left bagang she suggested i root canal na. At dahil client na niya si sister ko, eto ang presyo nya sakin:

For the root canal - P1500 per root x 3 roots (including xray)
                            P3500 for the crown

For the crown - P3500
                       P150 xray

We had 4 sessions for both, and our last session was yesterday. Happy naman ako sa resulta, napansin ko lang medyo bulky siya, ganun ba talaga? When we tested it kasi, ok naman, she even asked me kung mataas, so parang di naman kaya sabi ko ikabit na.. or di lang ako sanay kasi ilang weeks walang crown both ( parehas na sira ang temp crown kasi after a day na ikabit)

buti i bump into this thread. i accompanied my sister who is 13yo pa lang sa dentist last sat. kase on and off yung sakit ng premolar nya. then pinaxray. then sabi nung dentist pastahan daw, now nung inopen na nya yung tooth, sobrang wala na pala daw laman sa loob na almost kita na yung pulp. so she suggested root canal. she said it will be 4k. i dunno kung 4k na yun lahat or per canal. we are contemplating kung root canal or extraction but since sobra bata pa nya as much as possible mapreserve sana yung tooth. kaya lang baka unbearable for her yung pain kahit may anesthesia pa. low telarance kase sya sa pain.

If the area is anesthesized, wala na talagang maffeel na pain dun. I should know because I'm a dentist and I've done hundreds of root canal treatments.

Nope, by then kasi natanggal na yung nerves ng tooth. So dapat wala na siyang ma-feel after that. If there's still pain, may naiwan sa loob for sure.

Baka 4k for the entire tooth na. The charging is usually per canal pero sobrang mahal naman if 4k per canal yung charge niya unless that dentist is really known to specialize in RCT. Mas mahal pa siya sa akin haha.

PM me the name of the dentist and the location. Usually if the location is in Makati CBD or medyo upscale, then mas mataas ang charges.

You mentioned something about pain--- I cannot answer that as I didn't get to see the patient. But since you mentioned that as of your sister's last visit sa dentist, the tooth was so hollow that almost the pulp can be seen. If your sister was able to endure that procedure without anesthesia, most likely, the tooth is dead already so no anesthesia is needed for the RCT.

To correct the previous post, it doesn't mean na pag may pain "sure na may naiwan sa loob." There are lots of reasons why there's pain even after the nerve was removed---we call that flare ups. Even the best endodontists (dentists who specialize in RCT) in the country experience flare ups. I should know because 2 of the best endodontists in the country are my co-faculty members in the university.

That's why we never guarantee that 100% no more pain after RCT.

mas pinili ko ang tooth extraction nitong nakaraan na tooth ache ko kasi dati hindi successful yung root cannal ko,binunot din, natakot lang ako baka maging ganun ulit masayang money hehe

kaya lang, monday ako nag pabunot tapos ngayon medyo masakit pa din tapos tiningnan ko sa salamin walang blood clot, dry socket kaya ito? mag heal kaya siya on its own? TIA!

I had no major problem with a root canal on my lower molar a year ago.This month, my tooth ached and my dentist peformed another root canal dahil baka raw may extra canal branch that she missed.OK naman after 2 sessions.However, recently, I felt a throbbing pain on the same tooth.My dentist said , if that is the case, extraction na.Should I consult an endodentist?I read online to find an endodentist who uses a microscope for precision dentistry.Does anyone know of such?Mahal daw ang microscope na yan around $85,000 so only few have that.TIA.

Hi mga sis! I don't know if this is the right thread to ask this but I guess it's kind of related since you do root canal or tooth extraction if you have tooth decay.

So my question is how old are you and how many of your teeth have fillings?

Nagtataka kasi ako. Napakasipag ko when it comes to oral and dental care. I brush, floss, and visit the dentist regularly but at 25 most of my molars have fillings. Yung bf ko naman, di pa nagtutoothbrush pag lunch at di pa regularly nagvivisit sa dentist e wala kahit isang filling. I'm just afraid that by 30 years old, I'm already wearing dentures. Noooooooooo...

I have a prob rin kc.. I have a tooth sa left side na nakikita sya pag.nagsmile...movable na sya, wala naman sira.. I just don't know if nasa loob yung sira pero the tooth itself buo pa... i feel pain minsan,  sometimes nagsosore pa yung gums below it...
I consulted a dentist before, and I was told that ang gagawin daw ay lilinisan yung paligid ng tooth, 3k ang binigay na price..pero di raw sure if maagapan ang magiging loose na raw yun kapit ng tooth... I didn't push through the procedure kc di rin  daw sure if maayos pa..

pwede ko kaya ipa-root canal nalang?? does this work sa ngipin na malapit sa front??? I really wanted to save this tooth..ayokong maging bungal pagnagsmile...    i am also afraid of tooth implants..yayks!
