i opted root canal kasi ayoko mabungi! hehe.. kaso mejo pricey siya kasi per root eh nung nagpa-root canal ako, 3 roots! tapos may xray pa, may consultation.. pero no regrets naman kasi di na sumasakit teeth di pa bungi.. :)

Root canal issue din here. Hehe.

Same with some of the others, napabayaan ko yung natanggal na pasta on my left pre-molar. Lumaki din yung butas. The other day, I went to a dentist for cleaning, pasta narin, at sabi nya nga, kelangan na daw i-root canal yung pre-molar ko para ma-save yung tooth.

I asked him how much root canal, P8.5 daw. Around 3-4 sessions nga daw coz it's a pre-molar. Is that a fair rate? Kasi sabi nung isang dentist na pinagtanungan ko, mejo mahal daw and I should ask if it includes a jacket na din.

Also, it doesn't hurt. No toothache at all. Painful parin kaya pag ni-root canal? Hehe. I'm kinda scared...

^ a premolar may have one or two canals.  if one canal lang yung premolar mo, mahal yung charge sayo unless it includes the final restoration which could be a filling or crown or in layman's term "jacket".  if your premolar has 2 canals, and the rate your dentist gave you includes the final resto (filling or crown) then it should be fair enough.

the tooth is not painful for 2 possible reasons.  1. it could be dead already or 2. the cavity has not reached the pulp or "nerves" yet.  you can confirm this with an xray.

another thing,  make sure the root canal treatment is supported with xrays in order to avoid recurrence.  it should be included in the rate your dentist gave you. goodluck sis!

this was my dentist quotation:
root canal 3,500 per canal.  its a molar, so it can be 4-5canals
metal post 1,000
core build up 1,000
crown 8,000

so total amount is P24,000

comments naman po sa quotation niya, thanks.

the rates are relatively fair but a molar has only 3-4 canals.

thanks for your reply sis.  may nakausap po ako isa pang dentist.  ang advice niya po sakin is "metal profuse crown" (don't know if correct po ang term), pero ang explanation niya is that metal ang nasa ibabaw instead of porcelain kasi po mas durable yan and mas bagay sa mga molars (since it is for chewing).  ano po ang comment niyo po dun?

another question is can i have the root canal done by a dentist then the crown by another dentist.  same tooth po ito. Thanks.

yes, it is your prerogative if you want the root canal treatment and the crown done by different dentists.

by the way, unless your molar is badly broken down and lost a lot of sound tooth structure, the metal post may not be necessary (case to case yan )

regarding the metal crown,  the other dentist may be right especially if  precious metal (gold) will be used and the molar is too far at the back that esthetic is not a concern for u.

thanks sis, napaka helpful po ang reply niyo.  the other dentist will charge me P9500 daw for the metal crown.  isn't that too cheap? i heard parang P20000 ang mga ganun...

root canal. para sa kin, gawin ang lahat to save the teeth. tooth extraction should be the last resort.

^ your welcome.  sis make sure nga lang na precious metal tlaga yung gagamitin otherwise rip off din yung 9500.  usually may certificate yung laboratory na binibigay pag precious metal yung ginamit na metal sa iyo.

thanks again. yun metal post po ba ikakabit habang root canal or during the crown.  sorry po ang daming tanong, wala po kasi akong dentist that I go to regularly, so I need to research more kasi di ko po kilala ang dentist although referred siya.

need some help  :'(

-so i said 'ok'
-kaso wala siyang mga pre-cautions na sinabi na baka sa hirap tanggalin maputol then maiwan. kasi wala na yung crown nung teeth dahil naputol and so on and so fort...

-so yun sad to say may naiwan na ngipin dahil hirap na daw tanggalin and wala na rin yung bisa ng anesthesia then sabi niya dont worry daw tapos balik ako after 1 month dahil aangat daw yung natirang ngipin.

-kaya nga yun namamaga siya and masakit and marami na daw nagsabi kelangan na i surgery :(

-sana sinabi niya na lang in the first place na surgical extractiion ang kailangan para isahan na lang :( - huhuhu

-ask ko lang kung sino may alam how much range ng surgical extraction pag isang teeth?

-and yung denture na may retainer dalawang ngipin?

thanks for any responds

^Well, in a way totoo yung sinabi ng dentist mo na eventually aangat yung ngipin na nabali.

Extraction, per se, is considered a surgery pero simple lang. Ngayon kung sa case mo e under siya ng complicated extraction which may range to P800 up (pwede until 2,000) depende sa dentistang gagawa, yung training/ credentials niya at location ng clinic.

-- hindi na siya namamaga ngaun , pero yung natirang ngipin is sobrang liit na lang. sabi niya saken yung surgery is 5k daw.

@tinmuning - san kaya may SE 800 - 2,k yun range..

-thanks

^usually sa mga not-so commercialized areas ganun yung rates. In marikina, for example, nasa mga P750 ang complicated extraction.
