becky's chocolate cake is a classic.

kahapon pa ako nag-crave for a cake i've never tasted before, pero sarado nga pala ang becky's on mondays. so today i bought a slice of potato almond crunch cake and a slice of caramel cake. haven't eaten the latter yet, but i have to say the former is a delightful cake--not very sweet, which makes it ideal as a light snack. it has a buttery icing, the mild sweetness and crunch are provided by the bits of honeycomb in the middle. 

i asked about the ice box cake because i was under the impression that it melts easily. i was told that it's just a normal cake with fruit cocktail in it, so i imagine it's something akin to crema de fruta (minus the gelatinous layer).

Oh ganun pala yung ice box cake.. I also thought it's something na frozen, parang ice cream cake..

^yes, the other ice box cakes that i know are like "refrigerator cakes" na madaling mag-melt. sa becky's, it's one of the most expensive cakes next to the prune walnut. parang hindi ako nae-enganyo i-try as of now.

hindi ko na rin pinatagal yung caramel cake. had it for dinner last night. it's nice and simple, like a really old-fashioned cake. the caramel is sticky, just as it should be. it's a bit sweeter than estrel's or costa brava's caramel cakes, but i like it too.

^happy ako nagustuhan mo caramel cake nila joy tumpak ang description mo mga ganyan cakes kasi nakalakihan ko kaya siguro gusto ko talaga. Masyado na kasing "rich" at nakakaumay mga cakes ngayon. Hizon's mocha cake at becky's caramel cake talaga pinaka na cakes para sa akin

^that's true. nakakaumay na rin kasi yung cakes na sobrang arte, ang daming iba't-ibang layers parang napaka-complicated. masarap at babalik-balikan mo talaga yung simple lang, di ba? 

i'm now drawing up my christmas list and i'm definitely going to give away cakes from becky's kitchen.

just finished eating a slice of black forest from becky's. okay din, very traditional yung recipe. will have the prune walnut cake for breakfast na lang tomorrow. it looks really heavy, parang na-o-overwhelm ako!

i've already tried becky's two weeks ago. late reaction lang ako kase busy. hehhee..

love the crinkles and the brownies. super moist and parang melt in my mouth. so-so lang for me yung ensaymada and cheese roll. maybe because a couple of days pa bago namin kinain so di na ganun ka fresh. na try ko na din yung choc cake nila and super happy ako. exactly how i want my choco cake to be. moist and rich..
