this thread is very helpful, except for the fact that it's lacking something very important: the word stress

some examples on common mistakes:
(stress on bold letters)

ballet - BA-llet not ba-llet
inevitable - i-NE-vitable not ine-VI-table
percentage - per-CE-neyj not PER-cen-teyj

sisters, i hope you can also include the proper stress for future posts, kase kahit na marami akong natutunan from this thread, i still googled it for the word stress hihi. though yung iba is common sense na or alam na naman hehe.

ito din yung mga natutunan ko in the past, correct me na din if mali pagkakasulat ko po :

education - E-ju-cation not e-du-CA-tion
karaoke - ke-ri-YOW-ki not ka-ra-oh-ke
erase - i-rase not eh-rase ; same for example, exception, etc.

iks vs igs = 'x' placed between 2 consonants are pronounced as iks (e.g. exception) while 'x' between 2 vowels are pronounced as igs (e.g. example). there may be exceptions to this rule, as always.

isn't it per-cen-tej? why the silent T in yours? and the -age is not pronounced as 'eyj' but 'ej'. same with average.

and karaoke is a japanese word. so it doesn't mean that if americans wrongfully pronounced it as ke-ri-yow-ki, we should follow. like we don't follow how they wrongfully pronounce feng shui. i always believe in pronouncing words based on their country origin's pronunciations 'cos that should be the correct one, right?

this just reminds me how so many common french words are mispronounced.

The name Jireh is actually not "uso". It's a Hebrew name, like Jehovah Jireh meaning "God who provides". I believe you could either say "ji-reh" or "yi-reh" or "e-ray".
