i had my current yaya underwent medical exam. buti naman walang sakit or something. it was a lesson for me because my kid got his primary complex from the previous yaya. she constantly had coughs and later did i find out that she has hepa.

sa case ng househelp, siguro dapat sagot ng employer ang gastos sa medical... unless malaki talaga ang paycheck ng mga maids natin.  Sa amin kasi, maliit lang ang sweldo ng maid.  Medyo kawawa naman if ishou-shoulder pa nila.

Siguro basic CXR and yung HbsAg since kid- and food-handlers ang most maids natin

oh by the way, if positive sila in either one, I don't think dapat silang iretain sa household   pauwiin ko na lang.

For those who will have their helpers undergo medical tests, I suggest you really include Hepa profile/screening. Usually kasi hanggang chest x ray lang nagagawa.

We had one yaya from an agency who had her med results with her na okay naman (no hepa screening). One day, I noticed that the soles of her feet were slightly yellow. I had hepa screening done and she was positive for Hepa B (infectious stage pa based on her hep profile). I let her go.

I have a helper who had TB on xray. Naawa naman ako so instead of letti ng her go, we treated her na lang and monitored her progress.

Medical exam you can do for your helpers/ nanny before hiring them:

Chest Xray (PA view) - to check for TB (though this is not really the best test for it) and heart enlargement or scoliosis..
Hepa B screening - to check if nagka Hepa B
Stool analysis - to check for parasites
(cost: around 400+ sa mga diagnostic centers,   go to a reputable place para clear ang result and this is actually very dependent on the reader.  I suggest you do it and don't just trust the results from the agency kasi hindi mo sure if totoo yun - these days dami kalokohan mga ppl) 

Hepatitis B is transmitted by body fluids through blood transfusion and sexually.   Hepatitis A is the one you can transmit sa food.  PERO Hepatitis B yung forever na nasa system mo while A gagaling pa.  Both can manifest as jaundice (mag yeyellow).

For our yaya since she will be handling our baby...  I had all these test done and I asked her to use a shampoo for kuto.  I explained to her not to feel like Im saying she has kuto BUT since she stayed in an agency and siksikan sa ganun you cant really say na hindi sya mahahawa ng kuto... so just to be sure... she didnt mind naman.
For Hepa naman... I gave her the vaccine for it on her 9th month with us.  The vaccines (3 doses) are expensive so I want to make sure na tatagal sya before I give it to her.  Parang bonus na nya yun.  I asked her rin before I gave her the vaccines.  Since midwife sya she knows na ok yun for her.  She's happy to receive it. 

Since puyatan if newborn we gave her vitamins (vitamin C - generic cost around 100 pesos for 100 tablets).  When she gets a cold (rarely) I ask her to wear a mask.  We also did that ourselves nung less than 1 yr old pa si baby... now older na ok na hindi.  Im praning about newborns getting sick...

yes this is required since may baby kami sa house. Usually chest xray, blood test,urinalysis, stool sample, hbsag test sa cook & yaya. Sa driver din we require kasi family driver siya.

Sa mga malapit naman sa Cubao meron bago Clinica ng Bayan, along Aurora opposite Gateway.  Mura siya, super friendly ng doctors and meron silang pre-paid card na pag bumili ka noon, libre na lahat ng consulta sa doctors

Did any of your HH or yaya test positive for Hepa B? What did u do? Ang sad Lang cause our all-around HH's HbsAg result is reactive and we just found out yesterday when we got the results of her medical exam. She's been with us for a little over a month together with our yaya. Buti na Lang yaya's results are all normal. I can't help but feel paranoid esp I have an almost 3-mo old baby. Maisipag pa naman siya and is a really big help around the house and our dogs.
