My officemate used to work with SM accounting office.  Strict daw masyado.  No hankies allowed in the office not even tissue paper.  You can't even bring your cellphone with you.

based on my experience in SM, okay naman sila sa benefits and salary if nasa back office ka... i was in the training department then, and ang saya kasi you get to go around the malls all over Metro Manila... the nice part about it is that you get paid while window shopping, err, checking on your people in the store...

so far wala naman nairereklamo yung mga friends ko na nandun pa rin... okay naman ang management sa mga malls...

the hard part lang in working in a mall is that you should be ready for long hours of work... pag bigla ka naman pinag-overtime, libre naman ang dinner... and of course, walang holiday, tho' syempre may dagdag compensation ka rin...

Nice! May thread na palang ganito.. hehe.. kasi i did apply sa SM corporate office. i know some people who work there as well.

So far, ok naman daw ang salary dun sa department nila ha. Ang panget lang daw is walang OT pay.. Ang work talaga nila is from 9am-6pm. but kadalasan daw nageextend hanggang 9 or 10pm..

Tapos na yung final interview ko. Wait ko nalang yung call nila.. Kaso medyo matagal daw talaga process eh.. Mga 1 month pa siguro. But asikasuhin ko na muna yung mga requirements..

I used to work at SM but not in the mall. In my one year and two months, madami talaga akong natutunan.

Madami sa mga SM employees ang napipirate ng ibat ibang companies.

Benefit wise, di masyado kasi yung health card namin (for officers and up) it cannot be extended to your immediate family.

Tapos 6 day work week. Super nakakapagod talaga tapos wala namang meal allowance.

We work even on holidays. Pero masaya naman lalo na pag may mga big events.

No overtime pay for officers and up.


For the benefits again:

they have a Salary Loan Agreement that can let you purchase gadgets and will be deductible from your salary. (parang sa credit card at 0% interest)

then you can save din kasi they have a savings plan that automatically deducts a certain amount from your salary every cut off. You can only get it once you resign.

On top of that, you can use your atm card at any SM malls, dept stores and hypermarket and affiliates like Ace Hardware, Toy kingdom etc then you can purchase up to 4k (depending on your level) every month and it will once again be deductible to your salary in four pay days. 

Then meron ding parang cooperative na may capital contribution. I dont know the details kasi di ako nagmember dun.

These will all apply once you are a regular employee and if you choose to become a member of the Salary Loan Agreement.

^^sassa, anong branch and what department ka nagwork dati? Kung matatanggap ako, dun ako sa corporate office sa tapat ng moa, sa engineering-design dept..

ok kaya experience dun? actually dito na yung pinakamalaking starting rate na alam ko for entry-level sa field ko.. kaya parang ok na rin although super tambak daw talaga lalo na ngayon kasi may itatayong 5 branches nanaman next year..

^ SMX Convention Center but the management is not under Supermalls anymore, it was turned over to SM Investments but the employees are still the same.

Pag accounting talaga dun tambak. Yung mga accounting staff nga namin usually 11pm na umuuwi everyday.

Pag sa EM-Engineering and Design, usually yung mga design officers madaming branch na hawak. Eh hello, mall kaya yun. Ang daming repairs palagi. Sa SMX nga lang mukhang susuko na yung Design Officer namin kasi pressure sa mga projects kasi events ang nature namin so talagang dapat maayos palagi para mabenta ang mga function rooms and halls.

Despite that, ok ang work environment sa SM. Super nice ang mga tao. You really have to love what you do.

sm is ok, yun nga lang they cant really pay as much kasi may scheme that they follow..

yeah yung health card is not extended.. you get to encash your unused sick leaves at the end of the year.. 13.5 bonus on top of 13th month pay..

they dont follow nga lang special non working holidays especially those assigned at malls.. so far i learned a lot...

Thanks sa mga reply mga sis. wala kasi ako mapagtanungan eh. I applied here and was considered for the customer service supervisor position. Wala pa actually job offer kasi i cocomplete ko pa yung pre employment requirements. Bakit pala nauna yon kesa job offer? doh nung final interview ko and the manager saw my COE, sabi nya they can only provide half of what I earn(currently employed kasi ako)  but I resigned last week lang to make way sana for SM. ngayon parang nagdadalawang isip ako that I gave up my job easily (doh talagang stress na ako don) tapos nabasa ko pa dito na hindi extendable ang health card plus I wont have the weekends off which I enjoyed the most. I dont wanna look back na talaga para mabigyan ko rin chance SM pero I'm kinda disheartened sa mga nababasa ko if worth it ang desisyon na ginawa ko.

Ano kaya range ng pay for supervisor dito for them to say na half lang maioffer nila? and can I still bargain for it? Ano naman ang maganda sa pagtatrabaho sa SM which I can boast off? paano mga bonuses?thanks

 customer service supervisor based in branches depends on what group you will be in..

CS A, handles bills and payments and other money related services
CS B, handles giftwrapping counter, returns, package counters, paging and those na pure service lang

shifting schedules.. opening, mid or closing lalo na peak season

salary: pwede ka magbargain sa kanila at least this much but as high as this much. usually kasi they would base it sa existing entry rate.

on top of 13th month: 13.5 bonus, or half of your monthly salary

increase yearly: based on the branch's performance

as what others have mentioned, may parang cooperative dito where you can make salary loan basta may certain number of months na nagcontribute ka na, they give out dividends based onyour contri and number of years.

yeah, you are the only one covered in health card. no extensions.

but you will gain a lot, discipline sa time kasi strict sa mga attendance at observance the break periods.

convertible ang sick leave at the end of the year basta meron ka na..

vacation leaves are plotted at the start of the year, hindi pwede mag move unless valid reason, since operations ka, no leaves during may and june, october november and december (dunno lang kung pwede na october)

i resigned due to work sched, fix pa ako ng mon to sat kaso lang ayoko na talaga ng sat work esp when i have my baby na...

U see, im a tenured employee. 10 yrs to be exact on the same company I worked for since I graduated. Very technical in nature ang work ko ang dumating na sa point na napagod na ako. Sa work and pati narin sa sked ko, doh sat sun din day off ko. I earn above minimum and have good benefits na wala akong marereklamo. If there's one thing na nagpapahirap sa akin to decide na mag resign previously thats primarily due to my benefits, and secondary nalang ang mataas ang sweldo. its the benefits that I cannot forgo. Pero its a call center industry. So I've been looking for other companies na pweding applyan and to add narin sa experiences ko and nabigyan ako ng chance sa SM, nung mapresent nako for pre employment checklist, i resigned na. (ok lang sa akin mag resign naman, I also have a kid to take care of and d naman ganon kahirap sa finances. doh maganda ang may work and ayoko rin mapag iwanan ng panahon kung pag nag decide nako mag work ulit and yet baka tumanda nako wala ng mahanap). So reading ur post, napaisip ako ng sobra. Nasasad na nga ako sa thought na walang weekends off and u even mentioned na pre applied mga leaves start of the year eh we have 2 big events in the family this december na all falls on Saturday, na siguradong d na ako makakadalo?

ano position mo previously in SM sis? and how long have u worked for them? Since u were previously employed, do u think its a wise decision for me to work in SM or maghanap nalang ako ng iba tutal d naman ako nagmamadali to look for another job or try ko muna. thanks again

oo nga pala we travel out of the country yearly, so pati pala ito nyan dko na magagawa. We do it last quarter of the year

naku sis hestia, sorry ha.. was a trainer for dept. store.. operations siya kaya we do not follow holidays yun kasi ang malakas..

think about it, i left because of the sched kahit na natrasfer ako ng branch which was 15mins away na lang, ayaw ko na talaga, sayang yung sat e.. with your position talagang immersed ka sa operations. and there were times na hindi ako nakakapunta sa mga family events.. gumigimik ako ng nakauniform dahil no time to go home and change, ayoko na rin magdala ng clothes, jacket lang ang katapat..

think think think... good luck.. but being in sm is fun, cowboy ang mga tao may mga powertrippers minsan pero yung bonding grabee..
