Yes, it is necessary my sis is an OB-GYNE. She told me that Cervical Cancer is the worst cancer for female. Ang baho nito parang nabubulok na karne. My sis uses cervarix. Some OB nag-oover price sa pagbebenta nito. Yung sis ko binibigay lang niya ng PHP 2,500 per shot. 3 shots ang kailangan so total lang ng PHP 7,500. Tulong na lang niya ito sa mga pasyente niya.

^hi sis, i just had mine last month. gardasil yung binigay sa kin. merong 2500 or 3500 per shot. yung 2500 is 2 lang covered nya na type or category (or whatever yung term i forgot), then yung 3500 naman 4 types. i got the 3500/shot. 3 sessions. april, may & sept. yung friend ko same vaccine sa Asian Hospital sya, 5500/shot.

@gcarrie: sis, may difference ba sa name yung 2 type/strains lang yung covered kesa sa 4 types/strains ang covered? I mean parehas silang Gardasil diba? Pero ano sasabihin sa OB kung yung gusto mo shempre yung mas madaming strains ang mavavaccinate? Thanks!

diba kayalangan muna magpa-check kung wala ka kahit anong sakit before ka magpa-vaccine? tama ba? will it cost you extra?

Got the gardasil shot too. In fact, I had my second shot last week. May konting side effect sakin after. My arm feels heavy after the shot but the feeling goes away after a day and it's nothing unmanageable. I'm very happy about it.

I've read an article and it states that mas kailangan magpa-vaccinate those who are at risk e.g. may family history ng CA, who had multiple sexual partners... Pero dapat magpa-screen muna. The thing is, paano kung meron ka na pala sa body na present inactive virus of cervical CA. Will the vaccine still helps? Will it still protect you?

@sis_yellowpolkadot_, yes sis same lang name, gardasil. inform mo lang ob mo na gusto mo yung vaccine shot na covered yung 4 types.

sis sistah, ako rin, bigat ng left arm. pero expected naman daw yun. galaw galaw lang para di masyado mamanhid. saka sandali lang naman

wala naman screening na ginawa sa kin. but a week prior to that, pinap-smear ako ni ob. i dunno if eto yung screening na dapat muna. i also asked my ob if kailangan din si hubby pa shot, sabi nya pwede naman but she only recommends it for guys who are gays or sexually active with different women.
as for the existing virus, mas dapat nga raw pavaccine pag meron na. naihahabol pa rin daw.
but of course much better kung wala pa, para hindi na magkaroon ng virus.

My OB said that if I am in a monogamous relationship and my husband was not promiscuous during his singlehood days and I have no family history of this cancer, I'm at low risk.  But still, I got myself vaccinated. I have a classmate in high school who died from cervical cancer - she got the virus from her husband who's a seaman and well, you know how promiscuous they are.  When her cancer spread to her spine, sobrang nakakaawa siya. She left behind 4 young children, so natakot talaga ako. 

Gardasil is the better choice since it is the quadrivalent type - targets 4 strains, I think - rather than Cervarix, which is cheaper, but targets fewer strains.

^my ob is dra nelinda pangilinan, sis. sa sm north healthway kami nagshot. she also has clinic at st lukes and delgado hospital. i think she's on her 40s. she's very nice, sis. very approachable. mas masungit pa secretary nya hehe.

I want to get one pero i read a lot about the side effects of having the vaccine.
may isang girl sa US na feature kasi super pretty siya, cheerleader pa tapos after getting the vaccine, she cant walk anymore kasi nagkaka seizure siya.  ang weird lang is normal siya kapag running. Nakakaawa kaya naprapraning ako to get this shot.

Saw that episode. I think there was a follow up on her done by the same news group. She was normal. Either her symptoms were psychosomatic, or she was just conning people.

Im glad I got the shot. It's expensive din but my mom covered the cost. For safety talaga. Sayang ang mahal Nya at hindi covered ng healthcard. Sana mas madami ang magpa-vaccinate...

gusto ko rin magpa vaccine. kaso i live abroad. so kung 3 shots sya gano kahaba ang interval? every month? so ilang months ako dapat magstay sa pilipinas?
