Question. I have this 5 year old aspin who was diagnosed with canine glaucoma by our vet. For 2 weeks, merong eyedrops and the doctor prescribed Visionex. Lumiit naman yung white spot na nag appear sa mata niya, but did not totally disappear.

Sabi nung follow up check up namin, lifetime maintenance na yung Visionex. And medyo pricey siya Php60/capsule. When I tried researching it online, it's one of those Usana products.

Magpa-second opinion na ba ako?

Mga bro and sis, kadiri ng 8month old puppy namin, he eats his poop. Di namin mapigilan..nakakafrustrate :(

Hindi kaya your dog likes the texture of the poop?  Kuha ka ng can and put coins inside.  Dogs do not like the sound of that, and whenever he eats his poop, show your disapproval by making a clinking sound.  See if this works.

Hi sis, thanks for the response. Honestly? Ni hindi inexplain sa amin bakit Visionex ang pinrescribe. We actually stopped giving it to my dog. Kasi nung nabasa ko na yung 1 tablet/day is pang adult human medyo na-alarmahan na ako. And in fairness ang mahal talaga Php60/capsule.

We just got a golden retriever pup.

I am in the process of housebreaking the puppy.

I read na sa morning I have to get him outside the house to do his business then pakainin siya, then after 30 minutes, ilabas ko ulit. Then sa gabi, ganun din.

I read na for puppies, they can hold their bladder for 3 hours max. Kaso, there are certain days na during day time walang tao dito sa bahay so hindi ko alam how to go about leaving him inside the house.

Is there a way na i-enclose mo si puppy sa area na tiled na ok lang mag mess sya don?  then train him to potty sa newspaper na away sa food/drink area nya. that way, contained yung mess and he doesn't have to hold it in.

I don't recommend cages unless wala talaga choice kasi it's not natural for them to poo/pee where they eat/sleep. Pag nasa cage, wala sila choice kundi don mag toilet. Baka yung training mo ng housebreaking (pag toilet sa labas) eh hindi mag stick. (Also a reason why I won't buy pets from a petshop)

Yup, meron naman area na pwedeng ma-enclose for him. Re: setup na sa newspaper siya muna magpoop while naka-enclose, okay lang kaya yun? I mean, would he be able to still associate going out to doing his thing? Parang naka-program na two yung pwede niyang restroom. Eventually I would want for him to pee/poop outside lang. Kung pwede siya mag-restroom sa loob ng bahay, hanggang kailan niya maiisip na okay lang to do this? Paano yung transition?

Someone is going to lend her dog's playpen to us. Kaso sa Monday night pa yun. Prob ko is sa Monday walang tao dito sa bahay from 7 am to 9 pm. Okay lang kaya na sa Monday when hindi pa namin siya malagay sa enclosed area, naka-leash muna siya dito sa loob? Is it better then letting him to roam freely?

Training how to potty sa newspaper: Is it likes sa cats ba na I have to get a "sample" ng kanilang poop/pee tapos ilalagay doon sa newspaper? Then ma-associate na nila na doon lang sila mag potty?

Sorry ang dami kong issues. Haha. Nasanay kasi ako sa cats na iwanan mo lang ng food, water, and clean litter box, solb ka na.

Re: urine, yes, normal lang sa puppy madalas mag wee kasi maliit pa yung bladder nila and mejo wala pa sila masyado control. Onti-onti, they'll get better holding it when they know na where they should go. Just make sure to observe them after meals kasi that's the time they'll have to toilet.

With my dog before, nag lagay den ako ng sample hehe para he will associate it na don ang toilet. Like, nag wee sya sa labas then i took a corner of newspaper to absorb some and ni tape ko yun sa ginawa kong 1 inch bottom ng box lined w/ plastic. naka tape sa plastic yung "sample" then pinatungan ko ng newspapers. Problem lang, he outgrew the box immediately. Nakatuntong nga sya don pero [textspeak!] paa lower half ng body nya nasa labas ng box so you get the idea. That was temporary lang naman, usually sa gabi since sa room namin sya natutulog. They like routine kasi so pag gising sa umaga, I take him outside na agad to do his business. Since late sleeper ako, I take him outside to try to get him to do his business before I sleep.

Naku matrabaho talaga pag puppy pero this is a crucial time. The more na ma ingrain yung habit nya mag toilet kung san mo ni train, much better for you and your house later on.

Wala pa yan sa chewing stage!

some dogs they outgrow eating their own poop. If you want meron din akong nakitang supplement to stop that habit, I forgot the name of the supplement though.

@conp_ regarding sa iiwan na nakaleash, medyo delikado gawin yan kasi pwede machoke yung dog lalo na puppy playful. BTW, 7am to 9pm alone sya? mag iiwan ka na lang ng food and water?

Ano ba secret ng dogs na mabango at malinis? Like yung mga dogs na pede sa bed. How often dapat paliguan particularly sa chowchow.
New dog owner ako. Napa groom ko na sya once with frontline. Sabi after 3 months daw ulit. About sa ligo, I can only do it max 3x a week. Kulang ba? Di ko sya natotoothbrush. Pano ba? Anong toothpaste nila? My dog stays most of the time sa room ko. Toilet train in terms of wiwi. Yung poop I let him do it outside every morning.
Bat ganun may amoy kahit kakaligo lang? Sabi ganun daw pag dog food?
What should I do para maging mabango sya?

Shih tzu dog ko twice a week lang ang bath. Ang frontline every month inaapply yun although nagstop na kami magfrontline kasi parang useless din naman kung kaya mo check dog mo every day for ticks and fleas, wag na mag frontline kasi kakapit parin naman yung ticks sa kanila, hindi sya nakaka prevent ng pagpunta ng ticks sa dogs, ang nagagawa lang nya eh yung mga nakakapit na hindi na sila magsstay ng matagal dun sa dog kasi maddeads na sila. Pero chemical yun so hanggat maaari kung kaya magcheck ng dog every day, wag na mag frontline.

Regarding sa food, nakaka affect din sa smell ng dog talaga ang food nila. Like mine, dati kasi commercial food sya (Royal Canin, Alpo canned food, Cesar) mas smelly ang poop nya plus nagkafood allergies and yeast so may smell parin pero katabi ko pa rin sya magsleep. Nagfood na rin sya from Bow&Wow (Merricks, Taste of the Wild, etc.) mas lalong smelly yung poop nya. Then inadvise na sya ng vet nya na mag tuna and potato diet. Ngayon, nabawasan na allergies nya, nabawasan rin ang smell ng body and poop.

Pero I swear, kahit anong smell ng dog mo, kung love mo at gusto mo talaga sya katabi sa bed, itatabi at itatabi mo parin sya I have asthma and advised na rin ako ng doc ko na wag muna tumabi sa dog ko pero hindi pwede hehe

Actually baby ko na sya talaga. Pinagtawanan na nga ko ni hubby kase bine baby ko daw. Yung amoy nya I think sa mouth nga galing so aaralin ko sya itoothbrush. Pati ba tongue iba brush? Super spray na lang sa room para mawala amoy. I cant let him sa bed kase medyo sensitive skin ko haha. Nagkaka rashes kase agad ako and I remember ipinagbawal din ni derma ang dogs.
Stress reliever ko din sya.

Di ko na bnbrush yung tongue. may kilala rin ako na allergic sa dog nya na sharpei pag nadikit sya sa fur ng dog nya nagkakarashes

Help! Im having a difficult time making our chow chow drink his tablets. He got diagnosed with UTI and I fear with him refusing his medicines, it might get worse:( Our boy can make him take his medicine coz he can hold his jaw firmly but he can only come to our house in the morning. Come night time for his second dosage, wala na. The medicines are supposed to be taken before meals but since Im having a hard time, I tried mixing it with his food. It worked the first time but now, he can recognize the tablets. He finishes his food and simply leaves the tablets on his plate:( The doctor said wala raw syrup alternative. Hayyy im so worried. Any tip will be appreciated.

you need to learn how to give him the medicine yourself. Are you afraid of getting bit by your dog? You could also give it to him by inserting the tablet into a soft treat (like cheese or sweet potato). Or you can smash it a little bit to make it powdery then mix it with his food or add a little water to make it like paste then spoon feed it. Pero in the long run, you really have to learn how to give your dog tablets directly. Kasi based from my experience, magkakaroon at magkakaroon ng need to give your pets tablets and preferred ko rin ang tablets bec it's not messy unlike syrup and sakto yung dosage. Hope your dog gets better soon

yes, matigas ulo ng chow chow namin eh. hes young and quite feisty. he tries to bite my hand pag nasstress while im giving him medicines. ill try your second tip!:) thank you!:)
