^wow I'm so happy to hear na continuous ang positive results ni pogi. you're doing a great job sis, I'm sure maiinspire sa inyo ang mga owners with the same condition

naku, wag na silang tumulad sa nanay nila haha! pag nakita nyang may hawak ka, tatakbo palapit sayo yun. iikot-ikot pa sya parang si tazmanian devil hehe. pero yun nga lang, pag nafeel nilang may kakaiba sa sinubo mo, iluluwa or iirapan ka Parang naging aware na sila kung ano yung real food sa hindi.

nito lang binigyan ko si diego ng heartgard, kinain naman lahat. tapos pagbalik ko after maghugas ng kamay, syemay! sinuka lahat! sabi ko, leche ka sinayang mo 200 ko! dinampot ko talaga yung sinuka nya tapos pinasubo ko ulit hahaha! pero hinaluan ko muna ng meat, buti kinain pa rin kadiri hahaha!

may magandang dulot din pala pag pihikan tayo sa food, di sila basta-basta mafofood poisoning

 i should actually be thanking you kasi madami akong nagtutunan sayo. seriously... sayo ko din nalaman mga ibang informative websites, tsaka mas ok canidae kesa royal canin. haha... meron pang isang gtalker dito na very helpful din dati pero di na active ngayon.  i miss her na nga... and the other members also who share... but the bulk of information, sayo talaga galing. para kalang cesar milan. 

majikero din pala alaga mo, parang yung alaga ko lang. now you dont see it, now you do.  kala mo success, yun pala nasa lapag na yung gamot. haha!

dati sinusubo ko uli yung gamot nya pero napagalitan ako ng sister ko. madumi na daw, hehe... eh sabi ko kasi ang hirap maghanap.

nagka shortage kasi dati ng phosphate binder nya. 2x a day ang dosage na kelangan... so inikot namin mga mercury drugstores sa qc at makati. may store na 10 pcs lang ang available, so good for 5 days lang yun kung walang tapon (niluwa)... lesson learned, so now good for 3 months ang stock namin parati para safe.

i suggest din sa ibang pet owners to stockup on important meds maski 1 month's worth kasi ang hirap pag walang mabili. nakaka windang ng buhay.

Parang kilala ko yung sinasabi mo, sana maging active sya ulit ano. I have learned alot from you guys, at masarap makipagkwentuhan sa mga kapwa ko lukaret when it comes to our dogs haha! Naku GT has been my outlet na talaga, I have joined alot of forums in the past, searching pa nga ako minsan eh haha pero ayos nako dito kasi tahimik. Sumasakit ulo ko pag daming members, at tsaka dito pwede ko ihirit ang backread pag tinamad ako magtype hahahaha!

tama ka dyan sa pagstock ng supplies kasi di talaga maiiwasan ang accidents. Isa sa pinakamahirap na part sa pagkakaron ng pets is yung pagbigay ng meds. Madaming moments of "how in the world do you expect me to do this?" Nakakaloka pag ayaw inumin at mas nakakaloka pag inakala mong nakain na pero biglang niluwa Kailangan mas mautak tayo sa kanila kundi, sayang ang pera!

hi mga sis, pa join i had fun back reading this thread, masaya talaga kausap pag fellow dog lovers.  not all people kasi can relate, it's like we're a whole different breed to them, lol!
ako din i do everything to ensure my dogs' well-being, if kelangan tumambling pa ako, hehe.
i also stock up on supplies in case may emergency.  thankfully ngayon hindi na nagkakasakit babies ko because of their healthy home-cooked diet.
but ang dami ko rin naranasan na emergency situations before; from simple vomiting, birthing and feeding puppies, to parvo.

my first do maicah, had trouble giving birth, twice na cya na CS noon, so i had to bottle feed the puppies round the clock, every two hours yun ang i was still in law school then. 

And i also had one puppy who had parvo, super dali ng onset, nataranta ako kasi bigla na lang nagsusuka and poopoo ng blood, i thought he was going to die that night  i held him in my arms the whole night kasi pati meds and water sinusuka na nya and he was so cold and limp already.  i still remember that night until now,  i always hug him tight when i'm reminded of those scary moments. timing kasi na out of the country yung vet ko then, so he referred me to the city vet. i bought him to the clinic first thing in the morning as in i was counting down the hours  na mag open yung clinic.  thankfully maasikaso yung vet on duty.  i am forever grateful na cya yung vet na available that day.

so everyday for a week or so, halos doon na ako nakatira sa clinic. my routine was to bring my puppy there around 7am and go home at 5pm.  i has to skip school for a week.  hindi kasi pwede iiwan sa clinic si chino (my puppy) because he needed constant monitoring para di ma clog yung IV - he has such tiny veins - and he also needed shots every few hours.  dun ako natuto mag give ng shots kasi via syringe yung meds nya. the vet visited everyday to give a few shots but sabi nya dapat talaga ako matuto kasi he wont be there to administer the meds at night. then sa IV naman super sensitive yung needle kahit naka splint na kasi nga maliit pa ang veins ni puppy, so halos whole day din kami naka holding hands   All this for about 2 week or so until natapos yung antibiotics. Now chino is a very healthy and uber lambing doggy, among all my dogs cya yung ang pinaka malambing ang mahilig mag cuddle . i am so thankful that he survived that ordeal

^hello sis welcome to the lukaret/praning club! hahaha! don't worry, lahat tayo guilty sa mahabang post we share the same sentiments kaya gow lang

natouch ako sobra sa kwento mo, I know what you've been through, nagkaron kasi ng distemper yung panganay ko years back. At akala ko mawawala na sya sakin, nireready ko na yung sarili ko sa pwedeng mangyare at wala rin tigil ang pag-iyak ko nun. pero sabi ko nga mas malakas pa sya sa kalabaw kaya ayun distemper survivor sya!

Yung mga ganyang cases, feeling ko challenge ni God sa atin eh. sinusubukan siguro tayo kung hanggang saan kaya natin hehe. Nung nagkasakit alaga ko, nagalit at puro ako questions noon, sabi ko bakit kami pa eh lahat naman ginagawa ko para sa kanya. Pagtapos ng lahat ng paghihirap, eto pa ba ang kapalit? Very emotional ako nun pero nung nakasurvive, narealize ko, test lang pala ito ni God. Ipupush nya talaga tayo sa mga bagay na di natin inakalang magagawa natin hanggang sa wala ng mapiga satin then biglang magkakamiracle hehe.

I think isa ito sa mga reason kung bakit natin nagegets ang isat isa. We share a deep connection with our pets kasi marami tayong pinagdaanan. Dugo, luha at pawis ang bumuhos satin, in short para talaga natin silang mga anak. And once we see the good results, we become more motivated to continue what we started. Yung tipong pag nakita mong healthy and happy sila, napapawi lahat ng lungkot at laki ng gastos haha! o diba i sounded like a real mother

Having a pet will really change our lives, napakadami nating makukuhang lessons from them, I don't care kung hindi tayo magets ng iba, basta ako I'm happy to be a part of the lukaret club!

OT na to sis, but I myself am all too familiar about challenges; my mom suffered through cancer for more than 15 years, during those times parang bahay na namin ang hospitals.  I was the one who took care of mama until she passed away. The first few months after her passing was really sad. That's when my sister offered to get a dog for me to cheer me up. She got maicah from a friend kasi pansin nya the dog was not well taken care off, palagi lang naka cage.  Gusto kasi mga owners pure bred lang and maicah was an "accidenta"l puppy (shihtzu poodle mix) kaya hindi nila masyado naalagaan
Of course I gladly agreed to adopt her and i'm so happy and thankful  to my sister for getting her for me   I'd also like to think my mom in heaven had a role in this; because she knew how much i wanted to get a dog.  I consider my dogs her last gifts to me

twelve, naku sis alam mo naman shy type ang lola mo kaligayahan ko na magshare ng mga nababasa ko sa inyo. Tayo-tayo lang naman kasi nagkakaintindihan hahaha!

mukhang ok na ang bebe ko, although hindi naman talaga sya nawalan ng energy pero wala ng buhay na worm sa dumi nya. hindi rin naging loose. follow-up check-up namin sa vet next week, kapag na-clear na sya, 3rd shot nya ng 5-in-1 then next shot daw is when he turns 6 month.

yup super halo-halo na yan sila since booboo's dad is a mini pinch. maicah was pregnant with booboo when i got her and i didn't even know she was pregnant then kasi ang liit ng tummy nya. I got them neutered na because 4 small dogs is the perfect number for me

about the haircut, ako lang may gawa nyan sis kaya it looks so uneven, hehe.  I got a durable dog trimmer na lang coz i find it so much cheaper that having them groomed. (safer too since i've heard a lot of scary stories about dogs getting traumatized  or hurt it grooming salons). Thankfully I'm getting better at using the electric trimmer, and happy din ako to see them so relaxed when i cut their hair myself


by the way, OT to sis but i just had to share this with my fellow dog lovers:
CARA Welfare Phils /"Compassion And Responsibility for Animals" , recently rescued a dog named Olive (im not sure if I'm allowed to post a link to their FB page so kindly search na lang on facebook
Olive was hit by a car/motor vehicle after trying to save her master.  The sad part is,  the owner's parents are not willing to shoulder the medical cost or even share the expenses for transporting this poor dog to the clinic (VERY ungrateful of them considering  that the dog saved their daughter!)
Kindly re-post  this mga sis, and maybe we can donate what little we can to help save this little angel. If you prefer not to send money, i think they also accept donations in kind like towels, vitamins, toys etc... and pwede yata i specify na for Olive yung i dodonate mo, you can just call them to ask what supplies they need for Olive (or any of the other rescues for that matter) and drop by their clinic

mga sis, help naman sa Labrador namin, paano ba ma maintain na walang amoy aso yung lugat kung nasan ang dogs?

sabi ng vet yung kuto nila nakuha sa pag higa sa semento. so balak ko sila ikulong. kaso lalong bumabaho eh.

ano ba dapat kong gawin? pag nag poop rin sila, nilalangaw eh. kadiri.

Hi sis, if nakacage sya kailangan ng constant cleaning especially if nag pupu sila. tapos yung cage nya dapat butas butas yung sa ilalim para lulusot yung urine nila. meron ding mga specialized cleaner to take away the smell. ako naman medyo immune na ako sa amoy ng dogs namin. hindi ko na naaamoy yung doggie smell unless ilapit ko talaga nose ko sa kanila.

^^baking soda and vinegar are good cleaning agents, minimix lang sila sa water, mura na natural pa. Ang mga dogs may natural scent talaga sila, hindi na natin maalis yun. Tsaka yung wiwi and poop may kanya-kanyang scent yan per dog kasi it serves a purpose in the animal world (to tell other animals na may nakatira doon sa area) pero kung lagi nyo lilinisin, right after gawin ang deed and weekly cleaning of cage, malelessen ang amoy.

Nakakaaffect din ang food sa scent nila, pag nakadogfood mas malakas ang amoy-aso

m_lim, are you a new pet owner? dont worry, in time your nose will get accustomed to it. 

sis abu is right, kelangan talaga cleanup agad yung pupu and wiwi para di bumaho.

regular bathing also helps, and good diet.

black lab ng neighbor namin mejo maantot nung nilapitan ko. i wanted to ask the owner when was the last time shadow had a bath. haha!

^depende sis sa cause ng itching. ano ba dahilan ng pangangati nya? allergy? flea bites? mange?

mlim, linis mo agad yung wiwi and poop kasi kumakapit yung scent nila sa floor. notice how they look for the same area everytime magccr sila? naiiwan daw kasi dun yun ang scent at mahirap na alisin once magpenetrate na. so dapat malinis agad habang fresh pa lol!

pink_sugar, paskin test kayo para makasiguro. usually ivomec/ivermectin shots or advocate spot on binibigay pag may mange. meron din medicated soaps or creams. pag may mange it means mahina ang immune system, boost it by giving healthy foods and vitamins, fish oil can also help in faster healing.

dheyamp1, hi sis. ang initial shots ng 5in or 6in1 is usually 3x, sched nyan is every 2-3weeks. tapos yung pang4th is booster tapos annually na lang. last na binibigay ang anti-rabies, yung kennel cough(kc) you can skip it, common cough and colds lang kasi yan, parang sa tao din gumagaling ng kusa by having some meds, rest and lots of fluids. isipin mo na lang tayo ba nagpapabakuna for sipon and ubo? di naman diba, tsaka di naman sya ganun kaseryoso na kailangan pa ng vaccines. marami kasing factor ang pwedeng magcause ng kc at kung malakas ang dog, makakaya nya yun. yung mga dogs ko meron kc vaccines dati, pero nagkahawaan pa rin after doing lots of research, di ko na sila pinabakunahan. check mo yung "When to vaccinate your pets" thread, you will learn alot about vaccines.
