A few months back, my bad cholesterol level was tested at 800. Iyan ang time na pagkahatid ko sa anak ko sa Xavier School, doon ako tumatambay sa Starbucks sa Greenhills. Everyday, masikip ang batok ko, namamanhid ang cheeks ko.
I knew I was in a bad shape. So I started looking for supplements. Previously, hindi kasi ako naniniwala, when I was young kasi, my dad once was an investor in a pharmaceutical company, and he sold his shares when he found out that the company was passing synthetic products as natural. Super biased na ako against many pharmaceutical companies and supplements because of that knowledge.
I did my due diligence (a habit formed because I have been going to China to source our products extensively, 10 times a year, and I check every little detail of our products.)
It turns out one of the best supplements is USANA nga. So I started looking for an associate (USANA being an MLM company) and I never took it against them (business model).
I finally found an inaanak of mine (kasal) who is in USANA and called him. Simply, I signed up to get the products cheaper.
Did the products work for me? Yes. As in I feel better than I had in years.
Here are some of my thoughts:
There is a difference between proven pharmaceutical quality products, own developed and manufactured, compared to most others that are bought and relabeled to their own brands. The difference being how I feel physically. Even my children are now taking Usanimals and changes are noticeable.
The belief in something good, especially in health, has put me in a tight spot. On one end, I would like to share something I know is good. On the other hand, people (some) perceive me as marketing the products for my own personal gain. I think this is a dilemma many USANA associates are facing.
To this, let me do a disclosure:
I am a businessman and owns a brand of painting tools called MASTERSONS. It is contract manufactured in China, and I have chosen a few manufacturers who can produce the products based on our specs out of more than a hundred I have visited and audited in four years (2009-2012). The products are distributed nationwide to hardware stores and paint centers (and some wholesalers with their assigned regions).
I joined USANA and seriously, the income I generate is an income I do not need.
Having said the above, when there is something good, and especially for health, I would still share this. In fact, I have been on my close friends and supplied them (some for free, others at cost), so as long as they take and I know how it will help them (as they attested later).
CONCLUSION
As with any products, do not take my word. Please do your due diligence. Please. Especially for products that affect the body and health and our children. DUE DILIGENCE. Research. Ask. Check. For supplements especially, simply checking the labels is not enough. Consider too the ingredients, should the company decide to disclose that information (some do not as they contain parabens).
As for me, I am 45 years old now and one of the purposes of my life now (as I listed them not too long ago) was to be able to help improve the lives of other people. So if anyone here would benefit from what I have shared (such as doing due diligence from this point on) then I am good.
Good luck.
P.S. USANA focuses on nutritionals among three lines. USANA may have been one of the rare companies with therapeutic claims (most others do not), most associates are no doctors. Remember lang po.
