Hi Sisses! :)

Mag canvass muna ako ng prices and all! Thanks to this thread!

recently discovered the joys of cooking (i am a new mom/wife kasi) and i'm planning to get myself a mini oven/convection oven for my birthday next month. i wonder kung malakas ba masyado ang power consumption nito? for those who regularly use their mini ovens, pa-share naman if significant ang increase ng electric bill.  thanks!

ANGELEIGH, I share the same opinion with you ... lolobo ang electric bill natin.

The mini ovens are good for lasagna, crostinis, baked spaghetti, solo pizzas... ganoon.  For heating too, if like others -- you think microwaves zap dead vitamins or nutrition out of food.
I do not think these are okay for baking cakes and cupcakes even.  There just isn't enough area for the hot air to circulate???
But do not take my word on this ... the expert one is KUSINERA311.  (I do not know her personally, but she has all the answers to food-related queries. Atchaka, hindi madamot to share her knowledge.  :) )

I also want to clarify this convection oven thing.  It is good for dense cakes or pastries like cup cakes, rum cakes, fruit cakes. ganoon.   But for light cakes like the sponges, etc... hwag daw .. that is what Heny Sison told me.

Thanks for the info sis!:)

sino nagbabake ng banana bread using convection oven? i tried it twice na pero nasunog yung ilalim. tinry ko buksan pati yung fan with both rods on, ayun nasunog din yung ibabaw. pero yung loob moist and masarap. so tinanggal ko na lang lahat ng outer sides kasi masarap naman yun loob. nasarapan naman lahat dito sa bahay, hindi ko na lang sinabi na nasunog yung outer layer. lol.

pano kaya yun? i did everything naman na andun sa recipe - 350 degrees F. dapat ba pag convection oven ang gamit, babaan ang temp?

^^ you're welcome sis. :)

^ i have tried baking banana cakes sa mini oven ko pero hindi pa naman ako nakakasunog unless ilagay yung mismong baking pan sa drip pan at hindi dun sa grills. but i do have my temperature gauge din kasi so it helps. and yes, i do reduce the temperature pag yung mini convection oven ang gamit. sa regular gas oven, i don't do that anymore. hope it helps. :)

I bought mini oven two weeks ago and will start again on baking.

We bought them at Shopwise in alabang, hindi accurate yung timer nila so hindi namin ma-tantya pano yung heat at minutes of cooking. We traded it to Wimpex oven.

Yay! Mine is table top convection oven lang. Plan ko pa namang gumawa ng chocolae chiffon cake since marami akong cake flour. May nakatry na bo bang magbake ng chiffon cakes using convection oven?
