Yaya information - BIO DATA revisited :)

Hi mommies!

I'm writing down an Information Sheet for my prospect na yaya.  I want to know my prospect that's why I prepared a list of questions to be answered.  I know pwede naman magsinungaling but at the very least, I have some basic info. 

Please give your feedback if I miss some things or if you think there's a better way to rephrase some questions.  Or baka not my business na iyong ibang tanong.   Can I ask if kelan nya balak gusto mag-asawa?    If you can suggest situational questions to help me determine her traits, I'd really appreciate it.

Btw, my prospect is a high school graduate, single.

Magkano ang inaasahan mong sweldo?   
Ano ang gusto mong mga katangian ng amo?   
Anong araw ang gusto mong makapag-day off?   
Ano ang mga dahilan upang ikaw ay magtagal sa isang trabaho?   

That's about it.  Ang hirap umisip ng questions in Filipino!

^You're absolutely right jelly.  We're from Las Piñas kasi and there might be relatives elsewhere.

I also forgot the height and weight.    Pasukatan ko sa clinic.

^ Very comprehensive.  I suggest though that you ask the yaya to write down the essentials (personal info and references) and use the rest for interview purposes.  Baka  ma-intimidate si yaya sa dami ng questions na kailangan sagutin.

Based on my experience, trust your gut feel.  If during the interview, you feel there's something that bugs you about the personality of the applicant or something is not quite right, it's usually true.

I defer to your inputs regarding these matters, as I read in another thread that you've encountered a lot of agencies. 

I know it's quite long so I just printed 2 pages on 1 sheet of paper.  Actually, yaya already turned over to me this morning the accomplished info sheet.  Natuwa ako, some of her answers include:

hilig - magsulat ng mga letrang may disenyo (lettering)*
gustong matutunan - Computer Science
para magtagal sa trabaho - para sa mga magulang ko, masuklian ko man lang ang pagpapalaki sa akin

Complete and specific answers nya ha.

As I read in Smart Parenting, sasabayan mo talaga ng tons of prayers ang pag-screen sa yaya.   


*Note to self: I'll probably teach her calligraphy. Hahahahaha!

^ Looks like you have found a yaya with good potential there.

Keep a file pala of the bio-data of your yaya.  You never know when you might need it.

@sis marose17 korek ka jan sis trust your gut feel. during interview pa lang kasi ramdam mo na agad kung magaan yung loob mo sa isang tao.

I was just reading the thread with the yaya horror stories.  It's very unfortunate that we let strangers into our house without even getting the basic information such as names and complete address - I know they can always use pseudo names, but at least the helper is aware that we are 1 step ahead of them.

I used to take these things for granted, because it's usually our parents who take care of these.  But now that I'm a mom, I have to be on top of management of the household, helpers included.  They are after all, our partners hindi ba?

My tita also provided me with insights and they're really very helpful, but I guess that calls for another thread.  Suffice it to say that we should always be careful and vigilant even inside our house.

^ When I get a yaya from an agency, I always ask for NBI and barangay clearance.

If thru referral, wala pa rin guarantee if okay yung person.  I guess we really have to be vigilant especially if the children will be with the yaya and helpers all day.

Yes, I very well agree with MAROSE.
Sometimes, applicants are sooo good at answering, but something is "off".   Mind the "warning flags" ... baka eto yung mga "trained" na nang mga syndicates.

The standard form/bio-data used for office employees is a good start. 
Also, when I interview prospective house staff and yayas... I put them at ease right away parang kung may tinatago man eh maging careless and well, mabuko mo agad.   
I also do not do my interview in an orderly progression.  I jump from 1 topic to another, parang mas makita ko kung truthful ang sagot. 

Also, nothing beats an NBI Clearanc.  (I do not bother with a Police/Barangay Clearance). 
What I do with my househelp is that i have a trusted messenger from my office accompany them to get an NBI Clearance.   (I pay for the NBI Clearance, so it is my messenger who holds the original for filing in my office).

I also validate the previous employment experience.
As in, if she says na her previous employer was so and so.... I ask for the tel. no.   If she says hindi nya alam, or forgets even the address.. warning flag na yon. 
If she says her previous employer's family all relocated abroad... I say, pero kilala ka nang kapitbahay, ng kamag anak ng previous employer mo (ask for name, address, etc.) or nang village association?  The thing is, there must be some1 who knows her while employed thereat.
If I am faced with someone whom nobody can validate... I show her the door immediately.

Meron kasi, they just invent references and addresses.  IF they know you will validate the following day... I say papupuntahan ko sa Messenger ko... aatras na yan kung dubious ang background.

For me,  the background checking of a yaya is never thorough enough... for security reasons.

I do not hire a yaya who is not a licensed midwife. So there are documents easily checked.
BUT I still have my trusted messenger check everything she puts down in her application form.

Sabi nga eh, hindi na baleng manakawan ka a hundred times, hwag lang yang anak mo ang madale.

This 1 messenger of mine has been with me for ages.  As in he is really trusted na; minana ko nga yan from 1 of my sisters when she closed her business and moved to the US.

Anybody you trust can do it for you actually.
My sister, who has no messenger of her own,  asks the security officer of her bank to assign someone to do it over the weekend... parang sideline coz she pays for the service rendered.

i always ask them kung may plan ba mag asawa or go back to school but no guarantee talaga. like the help i have right now. told her she has to stay with me for 2 yrs. when she started working here na, she said 1 yr. nalang bec. she's going back to school. just this week, she told me she's going back home as in right away. tomorrow daw sya susunduin ng brother nya. what if yung helper hesitant ikwento about her previous employer?  like when I asked her "how long did you stayed to your last employer?" then sagot niya "1 year", then I will ask her again, "bakit ka umalis dun?" then pano pag sinabi niyang, "wala, nagkaroon lang ng konting ano..."

minsan kasi naisip ko na ayaw ko muna siyang piliting ikwento yung mga ganun kung let's say nahihiya pa siya.  but I have a copy of her NBI clearance.

^If the helper was referred by someone you know maybe you can ask him/her some details of the previous employment.  You might be able to get bits and pieces of information which you can validate with the little info given by your helper.

If you're still not satisfied, it might be best to heed your gut feeling as our sisses recommended in this thread.

MIKELLY, when a helper is hesitant about her reasons for being fired or for leaving her previous employer... I say:  Sabihin mo sa akin ang totoong rason mo.  Kahit ano ang sasabihin ng previous employer mo.. basta hwag lang nakaw, hwag lang lumalabas ng walang paalam, hwag lang yung punta ng punta ang asawa/BF mo, hwag lang yung nanakit ka ng ibang tao... puede ka dito.  Anyway, may 2 week trial period tayo."

And I do have that checked.  Kung matatawagan the previous employer.. I usually talk with her/him. 

BUT the NBI Clearance is a big deal nga.

Usually, the reason for the end of the relationship is the sweldo.

get the contact numbers and address of her/his family. para in case you need to contact them you have their contact info.
if you can, try asking about simple first aid procedures.
tanungin mo kung alam nya gagawin nya in case may minor accidents, bukod sa iinform ka nya agad, ano pa ang gagawin nya. 
tanungin mo din kung familiar sya sa mga modus operandi ng mga magnanakaw.
at wag kalimutan humingi ng picture nya. kung may family picture sya kumuha ka din. para kung may dadalaw sa kanya mavavalidate nyo na kapamilya nya yun. magtanong ka na din kung ano mga trabaho ng magulang at kapatid nya. para kahit paano alam mo yung family background nya.
dahil titira sya sa inyo, alamin mo na din kung may mga allergy sya. if possible pakuhanin mo ng medical clearance.
mamaya may tb pala sya mahawa pa kayo.

hindi ko sure kung pasok ba to sa topic na to pero i'm planning on having my househelp sign a privacy policy. hindi po ako artista, pero super tsismosa my househelp!

like last week, she told my mom's househelp na pinahiram namin sya ng cellphone at bumili rin sya ng cellphone para sa family nya. magkaiba sila ng sweldo nun. syempre nainggit yun isa. at syempre nainis my mom. natatakot lang ako ano pa kaya ang maikukuwento nya in the future. anyways, sinabihan ko na sya. gusto ko lang na masindak sya kapag may pinapirmahan ako sa kanyang ganun.

e, baka lang meron kayo. hanap din ako at kung maisasalin ko sa tagalog e share ko rin sa inyo.
