^ Is your baby babbling at the very least?  Responsive naman?

15 months old is not too early.  I had my children assessed by a dev pedia when they were 11 months old.  But may special circumstance, my children were premature babies.

My babyboy is 2 years old na, unfortunately sabi ng pedia ko yung speech niya somehow compare to a 16month old baby lang.

And she recommended me to enroll him to toddler school na.

So far ito ang alam niya:
1. he identifies shapes
2. sorts colors
3. he knows his body parts
4. he dances when there's a music playing
5. he understands "adult talk"... we dont baby talk him. He understand adult conversation, maximum of 2 sentences.
6. he points

^ If I were you, I will set an appointment with a developmental pedia asap.  Ang tagal kasi ng waiting time to get a slot.  Kung mag-wait ka pa until the next pedia check-up (which is when?) tapos walang improvement at doon ka pa lang magpapa-appointment, sayang ang time!

^ May laging name-mention sa developmental pedia thread na dev pedias in Asian, Dr. Joel Lazaro and Dr. Bernadette Benitez, if I am not mistaken.

The earlier you see a dev pedia, the better para maagapan.

Si dra benitez is not accepting appointments as of the moment, si dr lazaro sa december na ang open slot. I was able to get a slot kay Dra. Baka may feedback kayo kay dra moral let me know mga sis.

Siguro while waiting for my kid's assesment, baka enroll ko muna si baby si kindermusik.

May follow up sessions ba ito?

Again, thanks sis.

^ Sis usually, may interview muna with the parents to discuss your concerns, yung daily routine ng bata, medical history (kaya kailangan ng referral from the pedia usually), etc.  Tapos, may ipapagawang activities sa bata to assess all domains of development.  Parang play ito for the child pero may significance each activity. The dev pedia will discuss her initial assessment with the parents, as well as recommend intervention strategy (therapy).  Tapos, may follow-up iyan in x no. of months.  Mas okay na magpa-sked ka na agad ng follow-up check-up sa secretary on the day of your first visit.

Sis Marose! Ayan... your post is very helpful. :)

Sa 3 kids ko, lahat sila iba iba ang ages/phase that they started talking and talking intelligibly.

My boy (now 7) started talking at 2.5 (very rich vocabulary but ako lang and yaya can understand). Then, at 3 even his teachers couldn't understand him. Worse, he stutters pa (because mabilis siya mag-isip and magsalita). He stopped stuttering at 5. Ngayon, minsan he still talks so fast that we have to tell him to talk slowly kasi di talaga maintindihan. Now, spelling and math whiz! :)

My twin girls (both of them started talking 1-2 word sentences before they turned 2. Now at 2.5 both can talk 3-5 sentences intelligibly.

I was so worried before sa eldest ko... pero they have their own phase talaga. We need not hurry unless talagang may delay which the docs can tell naman. :)

Thanks marose17 for the info.

tumitigas daw kasi yung dila.

@iceebaby, with some children, delayed ang expressive language (ability to verbalize) pero on time ang receptive language (ability to understand).  I believe I am quite an observant mom and may tendency akong i-compare or i-level sa peers nila ang mga anak ko (kasi nga preemies sila kaya alisto ako sa development nila) kaya naman when I noticed na delayed ang expressive language ng mga kids ko, talagang I engaged them in conversations, read them books, talked to them about anything under the sun (may examples ako sa earlier posts ko dito sa thread circa 2009-2010) and implemented a strict no-tv before 2 years old policy in my house.

@kalaiyaan, my helpers and mom spoke to my children in Filipino while my husband and I spoke to them in English.  Hindi naman nagka-problem.  Children are very smart!  Even at a young age, they can distinguish which is which.

Another tip:  do not try to anticipate your children's needs all the time.  Encourage them to speak out and tell you what they need.  For example, you see your child looking for a snack.  Instead of giving the snack right away, ask your child what he wants, where is it and other leading questions.  Let your child verbalize his needs.

Sabi ko "what do you need?", then he points at his bottle. Sabi ko "oh, your milk? you want to drink milk?". Still, he keeps on pointing it.

Haaaay naku!

^ With children, you have to be patient.  Do not expect major changes to happen overnight.  In the meantime nga, for your peace of mind, consult a developmental pediatrician.

thanks for the info...my baby is a primie din...she can understand what im saying its just that nagsasalita siya ng nagsasalita na hindi ko maintindihan...but she will say what she wants like dede, yum yum, mommy, daddy, yaya, tenk u, sorry,

does being a primie be the effect of her being a delayed talker?

joining...

my son is also a delayed talker... konting words pa lang ang natutunan nya like mama, dede, hindi, ball nya is ba... mas ina act nya yung gusto nya sabihin. nakakatawa lang kapag minsan,  ituturo ko yung words na pusa o aso, mas sinasabi nya yung animal sound like kapag sinabi kong dog, sasabihin nya, aw aw. tapos sa pusa naman yung act na nambubugaw like shoo... kakaloka!
