Another flight on hubby's carrier naman, HKGMNL Lang and I was the only "civilian" in mabuhay class. The other 6 people were all pilots. When the plane dropped, my stomach was in my throat at napa-"ay" ako. Good thing my voice was so faint, no one noticed. My hubby looked up from his paper, then deadma. Haha.

sis, this is so funny. i have a pilot friend naman. i told him my fear sa turbulence, sabi ko natatakot talaga ako. sabi ba naman, "kung panahon mo na, panahon mo na". may ghaaad, i wasn't expecting that answer from a pilot. asar talaga ako sa friend ko na yun. sabi ko gugulpihin ko siya. sabi niya bawi  na lang daw siya, sa international flights ko raw if kakilala niya pilot ng flights ko, papa upgrade daw niya ako. tseh! niloloko lang niya ako if i know.

^ako din, whenever I ask hubby if he feels scared, same answer. No, why? If its your time to go, that's it. Nonchalant. Haha. I became anxious of flying when I became a mom Lang. To think I've been flying my whole life. How ironic kasi my dad's a helicopter pilot. My hubby used to be an instructor pilot & did aerobatics before flying commercially. Tapos in the airline biz din ako. All my uncles are in the airforce, hence my username. Flying is in my blood kaso I hate turbulence now. I squirm in my seat to shake the tension off when I feel the plane vibrating haha

^ how ironic nga sis. i even realized that fear can be developed. kasi dati i fly all the time kahit grey clouds pa yan and i don't mind sitting at the back part of the plane. i only developed the fear after watching Air Crash Investigation in Nat Geo. inaabangan ko yung pag Tuesdays tapos repeat pag Thursdays, my hubby got mad. tapos ngayon, paranoia yata ito.

^Happened to me already. Umaalog ang buong plane and feeling ko ako ang unang liliparin pag bumukas yung plane kasi nasa pinakadulo yun diba?LOL.

Regarding the question syempre natatakot din me pag nagkakaroon ng turbulence but  as they say, if it's your time then it's your time.

Same thing here. I became paranoid / fearful when I became a mom. But when I am traveling with my son, I don't feel anything at all. No fear whatsoever. He's 4 now and we've been traveling domestically and on 14-hour flights since he was 1 month old. However, pag ako lang mag isa nagta-travel my anxiety sets in.

sometimes.

its weird, flying is in my family too -- my dad's an airline pilot and my younger brother and sister are pilots too. grew up flying all over the world and was never scared.

until i had a terrible flight going to Cebu. the turbulence was so bad and i felt the plane going down. when the FA advised us to put our seatbelts on, she sounded... different, and honestly, she sounded scared to me.

that scared the shiit out of me, and when we landed and i got to my apartment, i was still shaking. i wasn't even able to go home to manila for months, because i couldn't get over it... i was forced to go because a family emergency na lang.

so i told my brother about it, and he told me no plane has crashed because of turbulence, and that its perfectly normal, and even better for the plane, sometimes. he also told me to sit closest to the front as possible... but yeah, he was also honest to me and said, planes do crash sometimes, you just have to be really lucky to not be in one. i remember punching him real hard for that. heh.

so when i get scared, i just keep repeating what he said to me over and over and over and over.

but when i thought about it really hard... i think part of my fear started around the same time my brother and sister were doing solo flights. i get so scared and worried and paranoid about them

Ako rin natatakot, di yung natatakot ako dahil iniisip kong mamatay ako. Natatakot ako sa feeling mismo, I hate it. Yung parang huling babagsak yung puso ko. I fly 6x a year, at least. Feeling ko talaga weak ang heart ko eh.  :(

Dati, yung katabi ko gwapo and bigla kong nahawakan yung kamay nya nung parang biglang drop. He asked, "Are you okay?" nahiya naman ako and I just smiled. He's gay though. :)

yes. may fear of heights talaga ko. i'm trying to overcome it. saka mahilig pa din ako magtravel kahit natatakot ako. i flew more than 10x during my 3-wk US trip plus may mga local travels pa ko dito sa pinas pero takot pa din ako. hindi nagbabago un parang may butterfly sa stomach.

Always!
Paranoid talaga ako sa plane, even for long-distance flights, wala akong tulog.
Takot ako sa open sea, I get to relax lang pag malapit na mag land ang plane.

May phobia ako sa airplanes (not because of the height, kasi di ako malululain) kasi lagi ko naiisip na magccrash. Kaya onteng turbulence lang, naninigas nako sa upuan ko at gusto ko na bumaba. Tsaka tuwing magsasalita yung pilot, kinakabahan ako lol. May phobia talaga ako sa planes. :( Sana ma-overcome ko sya.

hindi naman, para lang nakasakay sa roller-coaster.
what bothers me more is the few minutes before and during descent, due to change in cabin pressure,  i have this severe ear pain, as in nakakaiyak talaga sa sakit.

depende sa turbulence. meron yung nakakatakot din sa lakas. it helps to look around and see how calm everybody is, it makes you realize na ikaw lang pala ang nagpapanic and everything is just okay.

on domestic flights: NO

on international flights: YES, kung yung tipong nagigising ka sa tagal ng turbulence. makes my hands sweaty. itinutulog ko nalang ulit. i hate flying ng gabi tapos umuulan

No. Parang nalubak lang ang plane...or dumaan sa hump.

^ agree. Sa international flights naman sa sobrang tagal parang feeling nasa caterpillar lang  ;D saka ewan ha, mas magagaling ang Pinoy pilots kaysa dayuhan.

ayoko lang takutin ang sarili ko. if fear gets the best of me, hindi ako makakapagbakasyon. saka pag oras mo na, oras mo na talaga. anyway sabi naman nila, the safest way to travel is by air.

If its just minor turbulence, hindi.

But I experienced yung Grabe talaga. Flight from Philippines to Vancouver, it was the week when Japan had this big earthquake at natsunami pa sila---biglang taas at bagsak yung plane. I thought we're going to crash. Yung mga hindi nakakabit ang seat belt (akala siguro nila minor lang) umangat talaga sila sa mga upuan nila. Some hit the overhead bin.

Favorite ko rin yung Air Crash Investigations. Nanood ako a week before our flight to HK, ayun kinabahan ako because of that show. haha. So now, I try to avoid watching pag malapit na akong sumakay ng plane.

Hindi naman ako na bother sa turbulence, BUT nung papunta kami sa U.S yun ang pinaka grabeng experience ko sa turbulence. Sobrang alog talaga. Good thing I was asleep, nung na medyo nagising ako nakahawak ng mahigpit sa akin mommy ko then nagdadasal ng rosary. i went back to sleep na lang.
