i have two boss. Both white. pero yung isa kalahati lang.

YUng kalahati is super happy sa work ko samantalang yung isa eh walang alam sa trabaho ko dahil hindi siya hands on samen.

Anyway, january was the schedule for performance review, 4 kami sa department, isang indian , isang austalian isang briton.... Yung kalahati kong boss usper happy sa performance ko dahil nauungusan ko yung tatlo. So he decided to give me 40% raise of my salary..nung narinig ng isang boss yun hindi siya pumayag dahil pilipino daw ako and I dont foocking deserve to get the same salary as white people!! Thats worst thing I ever heard and the most racist person I ever met. After few months he found out Im the star of my department and super nauungusan ko silang lahat. Ngayon I am waiting for my second review of my salary, pag hindi niya binigay eh aba aba aba..maghanap na sila ng kapalit ko. Tingnan lang naten. lol. Well mayabang ako kase alam ko na masipag ako at madiskarte ako kumpara sa mga puti na yan. So ngayon me sungay na ko dito sa ofis....harharhar!!

Catherine: I agree. Some Asians earn more than Caucasians. Asian kids also excel in their classes and oftentimes top the class. Here in the Bay Area, there's a top school in an affluent neighborhood where 90% of the students are Asians and it's so hard to get into that school!

hahaha..naalala ko lang yung GLEE episode nina Tina andwhats his name? basta yung partner niya...hindi daw sya pwedeng makakuha ng grade na A kase. B lang daw yun sa Asia so dapat laging A+ ang grade para pumasa sa standard the Tatay niyang intsik. Basta parang ganon.. kakakatuwa kase alam nila naman matatalaino ang Asians hindi lang Pilipino but in general.

YUng amo kong Arabic, racist siya nung una..syempre komo competitive pa siya nung una, chaka ignorante sa cultura ng iba at hindi pa expose. Akala niya niya basta PUTI magaling, anyway, when she started working in multi cultural company she then realized that those whites are mostly fake and unsincere. Kaya nga surprised ako na she would rather hang out with me and the other kabayans and drink in a second rate club (alam mo naman ang trip ng kabayan mga tipong pag videoke bar diba) than going to high class bar with the Britons.

Maawa tayo sa mga racist kase t**** sila..sa totoo lang. Actually hindi naman nila alam  na racist sila....t**** lang talaga sila.

Parang yung briton na kasama ko sa work..nagluto ako ng pancit bihon, chicken ang laman..sabi niya ayaw niya kumain kase baka daw magka bird flu siya. Eh katanga niya!! hindi ko ba yun niluto? O diba sobrang ignorante.

A lot of people don't know that Filipinos can communicate in English well. But I really think it's because of ignorance rather than racism. A lot of people that I know here in Canada get surprised when I tell them that I'm a born, bred and proud Filipina. They assume that I grew up in Canada just because I can speak straight English. I told them that we have a very good educational system and were occupied by the Americans before the war, so there's a lot of influence there. I tell them that our national dailies are in English and they are astounded. It's actually quite amusing to watch their reactions.

It happened to me 2 days ago lang! Nakakapanginig pala ng laman!

The patient wants to pay $45 lang for the service he wants eh ang goverment standard price for it is $183, ang sabi ba naman and he said it sarcastically, "Is this your price? I can call the College of Physician! I will inform them of your rotten practice you, you, you, you!"

Tapos lumayas sya. Bumalik after 10 seconds, "Welcome to Canada, landed immigrants!" And he really said it sarcastically with that look on his face na nangmamaliit!

My retort, "We are all landed immigrants here--even you mister! I can trace your roots and you maybe just be a second or third generation immigrant here!"

My first encounter at nakakapanginig sa galit! Nakakagalit!

i'm not easily offended pero this instance of racism is something i won't forget. we were in russia and there was this 20 year old something guy who came up to me and made a chinky eye-d face (i'm chinese) right in front of me and laughed. i just laughed with him kasi if i fight back, wala naman mangyayari kasi he won't understand me and baka magkampihan lang lahat sila.

I am in a city na maraming immigrants and generally mabait ang mga puti. plus this is a small city naman so karamihan sa mga puti eh take the opportunity in travelling kaya very worldly naman sila. marami na din akong kilala na puti na nakapunta na ng Philippines dahil they have Filipino friends inviting them. ang hindi ko matake eh ang competitiveness ng ibang lahi na immigrants like bumbay. dito kasi, malaking percentage ng immigrant ang pinoy and bumbay so ang mga bumbay mega compete. i attended a pre-employement workshop and yung classmate ko na bumbay eh nagtanong sa teacher namin na puti kung sino daw mas maganda ang english accent, pinoy daw ba or bumbay. hindi alam ng teacher namin kung sasagutin na nya. he answered na lang in a good way na mas understandable ang pinoy pagdating sa english. ha! mas magaling siguro kasi ang pinoy sa pag adjust. mas kita mo yung devastation sa mga bumbay na "mababa" ang work nila dito compared sa India. siguro kasi pressure din from the parents. Eh sa atin nga, minsan parang na-eexcite pa tayo to work in a different environment like coffee shop, retail, etc. wala lang, new life eh.

I would have to agree on the smartness. Mas smart ang pinoy, sa office namin, i'm glad na we are not being discriminated, baligtad kasi parang sa amin nakaasa ang mga tao. ultimo pagpalit ng wallpaper, pinapaayos sa officemate ko na pinay. hehe. with panic mode pa yun. cute lang nila!

pag dating naman sa english, be confident lang and its about expressing yourself correctly. kasi as you speak, hindi naman na papansinin ang grammar mo eh (pero no excuses sa spelling, ibang case yun!). parang sa tagalog, may ibang pinoy ang nagsasabi ng "nakain ka na ba?" meaning "kumain ka na ba?" technically mali ang "nakain" pero we accept it kasi gets mo naman na ang point. so sa pandinig ng mga puti, ok na kahit mali ang grammar. on important docs dito sa office, yung mga puti pinapacheck pa din naman nila ang grammar and spelling nila sa kapwa puti. so no worries sa english. sa accent, ang technique is to imitate them or just speak slowly and clearly.

eto di naman ganun kaserious pero first time na narinig ko eh naoffend talaga ako. one egyptian teacher told me two years ago that we filipinos eat dogs. ayun nainis ako. then some months ago lang, our egyptian doctor told me "you filipinians eat dogs?" this time, i'm cool with it. i answered "no, i don't eat dog. actually, i eat humans. maybe i'm planning to eat you." haha dinaan ko na lang sa joke. ayoko na kasi maging masyadong pikon at sensitive.

Also, tungkol sa racism among Filipinos; colonial mentality kasi. Tinuruan tayo noon na superior ang mga mapuputi through education. At pinasa iyon through generation to generation. Actually ngayon, ganun pa rin dahil ang pinapakita naman sa media ay ganun rin: na mas maganda maputi ka, straight ang buhok, matangos ang ilong...parang Little America daw tayo eh

I agree with white skin and straight hair. So ibig sabihin 'pag a person is of Black/Sub-Saharan African ancestry, chaka na kaagad? It's ironic to see Filipino media promote these things while in other countries, they promote beauty in all types of shapes and sizes... and colors as well.

And to add... East Asians (Chinese, Japanese, Koreans) don't like straight hair. Kaya panay sila style ng buhok.

May na-experience na rin akong ganyan. Sorry siya at nagkamali siya na ako ang pinili niyang bastusin. So pagkasalita niya, sabi ko "Go ahead, here's the phone. Do you want to dial the number or should I?"  sabay pasa sa kanya nung telephone. Pahiya siya ngayon kasi naman, kahit tawagan niya yun eh legal at totoo naman ang price na sinisingil namin sa kanya.

Mayroon din isang time na bumalik ang patient kasi daw may nakalimutan daw siyang tanungin sa doctor. Eh ang problema, tapos na yun appointment time niya and mahaba na ang pila of patients who are waiting to check in for their appointments. So sabi ko, unahin ko munang i-check in tong mga naghihintay tas I'll ask the doc kung pwede siyang maaccommodate ulit, kahit saglit lang.

Aba, ang demanding nung patient and you can tell ang taas ng tingin niya sa sarili niya. Baka ako lang ito pero ang impression ko is kung puti at blondie siguro ako, katulad niya, eh hindi siguro ganung ka out of line ang reaction niya.

Biglang galit ang boses tas paring pinapahiya at pinepressure ako na siya ang unahin ko. So sabi ko, "If you're not happy with what I just proposed to you, then perhaps you'd like to let everyone waiting in line know why I won't be helping them. You do that and then I'll help you first. Do you want to ask them or should I?"

Eh di umupo at naghintay ngayon si ate kasi wala naman pala siyang guts na umimik dun sa mga nakalinya.

May experience ako dito sa Dubai na sobrang hindi ko makakalimutan. Dito, pag Local ka or Puti ka, talagang tipong boss ka at ang tataas ng tingin nila sa sarili nila. Nagdinner kame ng family ko with some friends sa Japanese resto. Eh, biglang nag tantrums ang anak ko, iyak ng iyak. So, hinayaan ko lang. Biglang all of a sudden, may isang Puti (Briton), sumigaw samin, sabi nya: 'Do you think that's socially acceptable?'. Basta he's saying na ang ingay ng anak ko at patigilin ko dahil hindi socially acceptable sa paningin nya yun. Sumagot ako "Excuse me?", biglang kung ano ano pa sinabi kesyo ang ingay, etc etc. Grabe, mangiyak ngiyak ako sa ngyari na yun. Hinintay ko lang ang bill, at linapitan ko ang lalake, gusto kong sapakin sa sobrang badtrip ko hindi, kalma lang. Tinanong ko lang "Do you have children?" sabi nya, wala. The I said "Okay, that's why. You should never have a child of your own because of your attitude and I hope, you'll never have a child in this lifetime because that child will be so unlucky to have you as a parent". basta something like that. Nakakainis lang kasi kung ang batang umiiyak eh Local (Emirati or Arab) or Puti (Briton or Amerikano) for sure hindi nila gagawin yung ginawa nila samin.

Ang mga kapwa Pinoy din dito, madalas tanong anong work mo? magkano sahod mo? jusme!
Sa mga resto naman, naranasan na namin na hindi daw available yung order na gusto namin, pero sa ibang lahi, naorder nila.
Sa pananamit din, pag Pinoy ang nagsuot ng maiksing shorts, sleeveless, etc, sinisita. Pag Puti, halos labas na kaluluwa, pinababayaan lang. Hayy!

Napansin ko din dito, pag Pinoy, sila pa hihila sayo pababa (not all naman).

Actually, it depends on what you are wearing.  Sa Ropponghi ba yun? which is the red light district of Tokyo, Pinays who are TNT swarm the area para makakuha ng customer.  I guess that's why Japs are very strict on issuing visas to Filipinos kasi karaniwan sa iba, nag TNT talaga.  Tayong mga Pinoy din ang may kasalanan. 

I remember on our flight back to Phils via Northwest.  We had a stopover in Narita, and there's this bunch of noisy japayukis.  As in tahi tahimik ng Narita at sila lang ang maingay.  Kahit ako nahihiya para sa kanila.  Kaya kami ng mommy ko, todo sa pagbebehave.  Baka kasi marepresent ng mga japayukis na to na lahat ng pilipino ganun. 

Kahit sa loob ng eroplano.  Parang akala mo sila ang may ari ng eroplano dahil sa boses nila na napalakas. 

I think (not so sure), because Japs are known to be systematic, pinapauna nila lahat ng citizen then yung tourists.  Since ibang way ang immigration ng citizen sa tourists.

I've been to japan several times, wala akong maalala na nadiscriminate ako. Pero, pauwi ako ng Pinas from Japan, JAL ang sinakyan ko. Kabayan nating Pilipino mismo ang nagtanong sakin "Ilang months ka nagtrabaho sa Japan?" akala ni Ate eh nagtatrabaho ako pang gabi, sabi ko nalang "Ay, Ate, di po ako nagwowork panggabi. Pupumunta po ako dyan para bisitahin lang ang nanay at mga pinsan ko". Kakaloka si Ate, nilahat na.

Dun naman sa may lumalapit na immigration officers, sa experience ko, hindi sa pananamit kaya ka nila sisitahin or lalapitan. kasi sa train station, twice na din ata ako nilapitan ng officer at hinanap ang passport ko. pero, casual lang suot ko, pants, shirt and sneakers. pati pinsan ko na PR dun eh mukhang Pinay talaga, nasita sya. i mean hinanapan ng passport. hehe.

Thank goodness I never experienced discrimination from Japanese people. Either way, they have been very nice to everyone, whether Japanese or gaijin (foreigner). Lalo na sa Osaka, where we only rode the train, but no one asked for our passports. Siguro the reason why no one stared at us is because they're starting to welcome immigrants dahil nga their population is decreasing. Or maybe that's just me, though.

^ sis, saakin naman, 2008-2009 pa ata ngyari yun. pero hindi ko naman nafeel na nadiscriminate ako. madami naman kame, and hindi lang kapwa Pinoy. may ibang lahi din.

Dito naman sa Dubai, ganyan din. Minsan, out of the blue ichecheck ang pataka mo. dahil nga siguro sa dame ng mga nag ooverstay.

^ Usually, ang mga mahilig mag-overstay ay 'yung mga desperate Pinoys talaga. Like for instance, the controversial case of Noriko Calderon. TNT ang magulang niya, no wonder, na-deport sa Pilipinas.
