This one hits home. When I was in college, my boyfriend was INC. His mom would always ask me when I would convert. It was hard with all the pressure. Ending, didn't go well.

Ayun nung 1st year namin parang nagiging source of away 'yan, we stopped talking about it (because ano ba, ang aga para pag-usapan 'yun hahaha) and siyempre nag-"normalize" 'yung relationship nung tumagal na kami... But I think ngayon nasa same page naman kami na we know we will get to that point pero hindi pa rin namin pinag-uusapan 'yung marriage and even religion. So I don't know kung ano mangyayari. Haha.

Aren't you wasting your time then if di naman magiging kayo in the future?

If both partners are okay with this then good for them but if yung religion niyo ang nagiging dahilan na ng pagaaway then better think twice.

Both of my ex are Catholic while I'm a Christian. Kapag pinaguusapan yung wedding eh dun na medyo nagkakaron ng conflict since ang gusto ko talaga is Christian wedding. One of the reasons na rin kaya hindi nagwork out.

So now pareho kami ng boyfriend ko na Born Again kaya we have the same beliefs at ang smooth lang ng relationship namin. There's a huge difference talaga if same ng religion.

^ thank you sa pag sagot :) eh di dapat lahat din ng mga yan (Catholic, Protestant, INC etc.) should be addressed as a Christians diba? feeling ko kasi kaya rin nagkakaron ng problema sa isang relasyon ang ibang couple na magkaiba ng religion dahil may mga self proclaimed na sila lang ang Kristiyano.. hehe!

just may 2 halala.  ;)

^ Wow magkakaron talaga ng away if isa sa relationship eh will proclaim na sila lang ang Christian, it's like saying na ako lang ang anak ng Diyos. I only say Christian to make short of Born Again Christian.

Like what sis kvandenhaak said, all are Christians pero magkakaiba pa din ang teachings.

thank you. at least malinaw sayo at sa akin sino ang mga Christians. na misinterpret ko lang siguro yung pagkasabi mo na yung ex mo is Catholic at ikaw Christian (Born Again pala yun ibig mo sabihin).

Totoo sabi mo sis.
Kaya worried ako Kay sis Minnie eh. Parang she is just wasting her time. Either nauuwi sa away or just avoiding the topic para di mag away. Pero walang resolution.

three8one Nasanay na rin kasi akong sabihin na Christian since kapag may ibang tao na nagtatanong if Christian ako I would  answer "Yes Born Again Christian" then usually ang reply nila "Ah yeah Christian nga" so parang sila pa yung naguguluhan lol

Girltalker2 Pag sa relationship pa naman importante ang open communication para sure kayo pareho na yang sensitive topic like religion is hindi magiging reason ng problem in the future. Mahirap mag assume na okay lang sa partner mo na magkaiba kayo ng beliefs dahil baka in the long run eh tsaka pa marealize na hindi din naman pala magwowork out.

Not necessarily the case, meron lang talagang, like I said, MAJOR doctrinal differences. Sila usually ang naggi-give way. The Protestants (all that were formed due to the Reformation era) are usually in the middle.

Na patatagalin pa until before ikasal 'yung talk about religion, then why bother with the relationship? But like I said, we were not even one year into our relationship nung pinag-uusapan namin 'yun so actually the entire thought of bothering with differences sa religion because we will end up together sa huli was silly. So it was set aside.

Part of the reason I didn't make it a big deal : 1) pareho kami na hindi naman ganon ka-religious na Christians and hindi naman kami INC na as mentioned is mas strict 2) there were previous marriages sa families namin na hindi rin same religion 3) our parents really couldn't care less about where we were gonna get married if it does happen.

Depends on the person talaga. If you put religion as the first criteria for a relationship then by all means makipag-break ka simula palang. I'm just not /that/ hardcore.

As long as you love each other okay na yun..religion can not save you, it is your faith towards God.

^Ideally tama ka but for most people religion is a dealbreaker. Sabi nga nila mahirap magmahal ng hindi mo kapareho ang paniniwala, magkakaroon talaga ng pagtatalo sa way of life unless meron willing magsacrifice or to at least meet halfway.

In my case, my bf is Hindu cos he is Indian, while I'm Catholic. It's not really an issue kase we're both open minded. He would send me to church, he allows me to pray and say the rosary even when we're together. I also do the same for him, though he's not really that religious.

I used to have a bf who is a Catholic like me but we never get along kase he's always lying to me and he's not being faithful. Most of the time, we would argue kase he would always insist things and kung anong gusto nya dapat yun mangyari! I don't have this kind of problem with my present bf kase he's very understanding (thank God).

My point is that religion does not really matter, what matters is the person's character! And if you really both love each other, you will respect each other's beliefs, customs, etc.

Not to go totally against sis cute_1022's point, but I think religion is important down the line.  At least for those who intend to be true followers of their religion (not like your ex hehe) will live up to the values taught by that religion, and those values will definitely shape the character of your partner, so in a way, hindi mo mapaghihiwalay.

This is the reason why i'm engaged to my Christian bf, while I'm a Catholic. Kahit may differences in how we practice our beliefs, nakikita ko sa kanya how he embodies  those positive Christian values, and through him it also made my faith relationship stronger w/ God, regardless kung Christian or Catholic yung ina-attend kong church or binabasang devotional guide  :)
