may nabibili sa Ace Hardware or computer shops  ng LCD cleaner. kung wala ka mabili, kahit yung flannel (pranela) na cloth medyo basain mo lang ng konti ng water tapos yun ang ipang wipe mo ok na yun. and also try to buy a can of compressed air para pang linis mo sa mga singit singit at vents ng cooling fan ng laptop mo para ndi maipon yung alikabok na pwede ikasira ng lappy mo

ang masheshare ko on using a laptop? DO NOT OVERCHARGE. mahal ang battery - nasa P5k kapag nasira sya. my auntie blamed me for not telling her this.... e hindi naman nya ko tinanong eh...

personally, i would rather risk overcharging my battery and shorten its lifespan or battery life than having my laptop toasted by power surges or power outages

i would suggest if you plan on removing your batteries and connecting your laptop straight to the power outlet, use a UPS. not and AVR but a UPS.

^ i've thought of removing the battery din before... but yun nga i don't want it toasted. i just meant that users need to be conscious when the battery is full na - then unplug it. if nalimutan mo sorry. better luck next time.

i have a question: i once observed someone who shuts down the laptop when moving it to another place (like if kelangan maglakad na bibitbitin yung laptop). is this a good practice? or just OC?

well theoretically its supposed to be safe. pero i would suggest you shut it down before mo bitbitin para naka-park yung head nung hard drive.

whether you remove it or not, the end result would still be the same. you'll just prolong the lifespan of your battery if you remove it once its full charged. all batteries are meant to be consumable parts.

antibac: while p3t3r's suggestion is sound, putting your laptop to sleep will also ensure that your hard drive will not move while you, umm, move. of course, if your unit is equipped with an ssd instead of a hard drive, you won't have this concern at all.

- always make sure you have clean hands when using your laptop
- use iklear and a microfiber cloth to clean dust and fingerprints
- use a silicon keyboard protector to avoid having dirt trapped in between the keys
- use a film protector for the track pad to protect it from finger oils and grime
- avoid eating/drinking while using your laptop, that's why accidents happen
- when the battery indicator is full, unplug your laptop to avoid overcharging
- shut down the laptop when traveling to protect the hard drive
- run only the applications that are necessary, don't overwork your computer
- drain the battery once in a while and periodically
- use a cooling device so your laptop won't get too hot
- get a proper laptop case with good padding, don't just throw it in your bag
- open and close it gently [especially true with the old macbooks, the plastic tends to chip off ]
- never put anything over your laptop [my mom once sat on mine accidentally and broke the lcd]
- keep it away from heat, don't leave it in your car on a hot day
- be wary of using it in public places, nice laptops especially attract theft
- always back-up important files - self-explanatory

treat it well and it will serve you well

MissJanelle: i agree with the majority of your suggestions, although i do find one to be a little kulang...

when selecting a keyboard protector (at least for macs), choose the brand that has ventilation holes. mac laptops kasi blow dust from the inside of the unit out of some gaps under keys, so using a sold keyboard protector will just trap the dust instead of allowing it to be blown out. there are also heating issues involved, so that's definitely something to consider

yung mga laptop batteries naman kasi nasa optimum sila on their first year. after that eh nagsisimula na yung makikita mong it does not hold charge that long.
