hi sis wandawits, thanks for sharing.  i'll look up "selective mutism" later.  my daughter is turning 4 on july and she also just finished her first year in a progressive preschool. she's madaldal naman kasi even with strangers e, for example sa salespersons sa mall, she'd say hi ate or hi kuya. one instance nga when we were looking for a dress for her moving up day, she was even the one who caught the attention of the saleslady saying "ate, magkano dress?"  the problem that i notice with her is she doesn't tell stories of what happened to her let's say in school or in the house, parang she can't tell a story from memory. her peers in school kasi are really makwento. when you ask a question, dere derecho na kwento nila. sya when asked isa isa lang sagot and most of the time di sya sumasagot.  we will also see dra. tanchanco hopefully sooner than our appointment in june.

Hello! Im a newbie here (saw the webpage link incidentally, while browsing for OTs and SPED centers). My 2 yr old son was recently diagnosed by our dev ped with GDD (global developmental delay) with autistic features. We were advised to undergo OT and SPED classes. Is anyone familiar with shine intervention center, kapitolyo pasig? Is this a good school for SPED? For OT, what can you say about we speak specialized intervention, theraplace activity center and CLI? Or can anyone recommend a  very good sped and ot center within pasig area? I'd really appreciate your feedback on this, thanks so much!

^My son has GDD and Autism too and he is attending his SPED and OT at Shine Intervention for 2 years already. He improves a lot and I think it is better to let your child undergo the therapy while he is still young.

alin ba sis, OT or SP?

i can say for the SPs, very good ang mga consultants sa Core. They are who we call 'diyosas' in the profession. medyo cramped nga lang the area (old house style) but i can assure you their SPs and OTs are good.

for Specia, i've heard bad reviews from my colleagues. Wala daw masyadong materials. (Although sa Core din naman wala masyadong materials, hehe.)

Aliw naman ako sa "diyosas".    But I also heard the same thing about their Speech Therapists.  Anyway, my daughter is already having her SP at Core Skills.  Minimal lang naman "problem" niya sa speech kaya once a week lang kami.  So wala pa akong masyadong feedback to share.  They are also transferring their center na, sa building na although malapit pa rin sa old location.

Sa Speciabilities naman yung twin boys ko for OT.  They were diagnosed with Developmental Language Delay, mixed type by our Dev. Ped.  Although mas may problem yung isa sa twins.  Anyway, so far ok naman sessions nila, though again wala pa akong masyadong maibigay na feedbacks since we've been there for about a month pa lang.   Like, Core Skills the center is also an old house, though spacious and clean, medyo di na in tip-top shape and may old house smell na and malamok.

@ sis marose17... maganda ba sis sa healing touch? lalo na sa speech therapy? sa lahat kasi ng natawagan ko sila lang yun may slot. yun iba May ang earliest. priority kasi namin yun speech as per Dr Planta... maganda din daw mag OT yun son ko pero gusto nya mas sa speech since my son was diagnosed with developmental language disorder.

^ Okay doon very homey at mababait ang mga tao.  My sons have positive experiences with the therapists there. May pinapagawa silang new place also in Sikatuna Village.
 
Baka may OT slots pa sila.

My son (turning 2) is attending OT at Therabilities at Tycoon Building Ortigas (near kapitolyo) This is also one of the therapy centers that our Dev Ped recommended. It's one of the best centers daw in the Philippines (as per Dr. Herrin and Dr regalado of cardinal santos) All the therapists are UP graduates. Medyo long lang ang waiting line because it took me around 3-4 weeks to get a schedule. The facilities are okay, the teachers are nice, super daming tao lalo na starting 9am (saturdays)

^ I agree.  Therabilities is the best.  My son had his PT there when he was 1.5 years old.  It's just so hard to get a weekend slot there.

My son is undergoing ST and OT in ALRES Sta. Rosa. 3 months pa lang siya doon pero ang laki na ng improvement niya especially on his behaviour. Na notice din yun sa regular school niya and his pediatrician.

Imo, asian hosp's therapy / rehab center is the best and modernized center here..
