naku, its been a while since ive been in touch with my classmate who works there coz i practice here in davao, So I'm not sure if she is still there. But anyway, if its sensory integration and behavior management, all OTs in therabilities are trained for that since college pa.

If you were to ask me, as a therapist I would recommend that you start intervention immediately with another therapist and then when t. Tisha has a slot na, you can transfer. But you have to ask Alma first if that is okay with them. Yes, t. Tisha is really really good but sayang kasi ang waiting time, lalo na if its sensory and behavior, the earlier the intervention, the better the prognosis.
Who knows, you might like your therapist na rin.

whatever you decide on, just inform your doctor about it coz in the end, no matter what the devped says, you're the parent and you decide for whatever is best for your child.

^Thanks sis!! U know what... I am considering Movement Matters they have an available sched na... P1500 for evaluation and P500/hr after. I might start with that first then move to therabilities when theres an opening. At least the per hour rate and evaluation rate in Movement Matters isn't as expensive as therabilities. Ill just start with that first =)

marose: Thanks for ur recommendation sis! Ill ask nga again if theyll allow me to be with another OT first. But if its too expensive, I think ill just save up fo when I really have a slot already... P3200 rin kasi and 700/hr 2x a week is no joke.

Maybe in the meantime I can just go to those OTs na P500/hr muna. what do u think?

Sis Chili, ang downside lang sa Movement Matters is that it is relatively new (a year pa lang in existence yata) and the therapists (especially yung mga OT daw) are not as experienced as those in Therabilities.  I was also considering Movement Matters before since it was very near my place.  But I decided to have my son go to Therabilities.

 P.S. The owner of Movement Matters (Teacher Abbie - very nice person) used to work in Thera.

In my opinion, it's better to request for another OT within Thera (P625/session, P2500 yata for the initial evaluation) if there will be no issue on switching to Teacher Tisha later.  Kasi, I am pretty sure that if you transfer your son from Movement to Thera, Thera will conduct another evaluation.

Perhaps you and your son could pay a visit to those 2 centers so you can see for yourself kung saan mas magiging comfortable yung son mo.

hi sis, nagtaas na kasi sila, last year i paid less 2k for the initial assessment, and the reg OT fee was 27k.  I think 30k na ang OT fee nila. Try to call them, they're approachable naman

Sis, would like to ask lang regarding we speak? ano yung bad experience ng friend mo?

Naka pila kami sa st lukes kay Teacher Deanna (56th in line), and found out that she has monday schedule in we speak. i grab the slot available which is very convenient to us (1st student nya for that day. 9am). so kaunti pa lang tao sa center...  We just started this march, nakaka 2 sessions pa lang naman sya. so far, okey kami...

are u referring to deanna rodriguez?, she's the speech pathologist of my inaanak. she's good according to my kumare.
yung bad experience nya sa We Speak tungkol yun kay Teacher Noel, i think u know him by now. Hindi sya marunong gumawa ng report, dahil puro copy-paste lang ang pinapadala nila sa friend ko. mapapansin naman nila yun kasi iba ang nakalagay sa report sa behavior ng bata. ilang beses ng nangyari yan, ultimo pangalan ng pasyente nya naging iba rin

My son naman goes for OT at both Thera and Quality Life. We've been at Thera for more than a year now. I decided to look for another center because I received a text message from his OT that we were being dropped from the program. My son's allergies are really bad kasi, sometimes we'd be absent a week and when his sleep patterns became erratic, we'd miss his sessions. Pero I always make sure I notify his OT if we'd miss it. So when she texted me that I lost our slot, I immediately called her and told her that I was surprised that they didn't even warn me. I was informed na when my son got better na, I can be decked again (eh puro new grads mga OT dun ngayon, aside from the old timers) but if I wanted to retain the same therapist, the wait was even longer. So out of panic, I went to Quality Life. I was so impressed! Although the center hasn't been around for a year, all the therapists there are medyo senior na. They have a multi-sensory area na they incorporate with the regular OT. Tapos on my son's first session, impressed talaga ko sa notes nung ot. Sobrang detailed and she keeps a copy for their records. I have an experience na kasi with thera that we leave the notebook with them, hindi naman updated afterwards.

wow, good for you that your son had a great experience in QLD. Its really impressive!! btw who's your OT? my son's OT was Teacher Ayi too bad, wala pa rin silang SP . We just finished our session mid last year pa.

Parang nice nga mag sensory integration therapy in Quality Life. Kaya lang... so far talaga from where we live!!!! I like the multi sensory rooms in the website. Paang perfect for my son's therapy

Got a call yesterday from Thera. T. Tisha became available today to evaluate my son. Syempre I took the opportunity right away. I have to go back on Friday so we can finish the evaluation. She said her sched hasnt freed up yet so she can recommend another therapist in the meantime for my son.

Teacher Tisha was very good and thorough at handling my son's case. So far I have consulted with 2 dev peds... Dr. Dimalanta and Dr. Benitez. And T. Tisha was able to further explain the sensory integration issues of my son. Looks like son has a classic SID/SPD case. I am hopinh her sched frees up kahit once a week lang.

I think the success of the therapy sessions highly depends on how good your OT is since they will be the ones really working with your child on a regular basis.

Hi, try to check QLD also, they have a multi-sensory area that addresses sensory integration problems and get a copy of the book The Out-of-Sync Child by Carol Stock Kranowitz. This might be useful as reference.

BTW sis, if u dont mind me asking, whos ur dev ped? Does your son have SI OT? who in QLD would u recommend for SI OT?

Grabe pala the policies of Thera... if u cancel an appt may P200 penalty and they'll drop u from the program if ur absent 50% of the time. Do u really have to pay P1250 for the monthy notes, reports or is that just for home program etc??

Hi Sis, sorry di pa ko maka-pm because I haven't been active here for a long time. I bought the book from Amazon.com
I initially went to Dra. Tanchanco then we just saw Dr. Dimalanta a few days ago. My son has SPD. I would recommend our OT in QLD but wala kasi sya available na slot. We're supposed to attend 3x a week but because booked sya, 2x na lang. Inquire ka din doon. They will give you a tour of the center. And I believe the OTs there are senior na nga, you'll see naman from their age. Mga 30's. In Thera kasi there are a lot of new grads. Also, I'm not familiar with the fees they charge for the monthly notes because I haven't tried that, they'll ask you to bring a notebook so they can write down the activities they did every session. The penalties, I'm very familiar with! I just paid more than 2k for all our absences and canceled sessions (P450/session).
In QLD, the OT with MSE (multi-sensory environment) is around P800 but if you enrol for 36 sessions, you get a discount. Yun typical OT lang, P600/session. Will pm you once I get it reinstated!

when you cancel the session ba, there's no make up session for that? you have to pay 200 kaagad? in our center kasi here, when you cancel a session, that session will be rescheduled as long as you were able to cancel at least 2 hours before your schedule. the payment will be forfeited only if you were not able to do so.

I can understand the policy on being dropped after being absent for more than 50% of the month's sessions sis. that's also one of our policies here. hindi na kasi beneficial if irregular ang pasok ng bata and since may long waitlist, they have to give way for those on the list also.

sleepyhead: sis i caled na QLD i think theyre most sought after OTis T. Achie. Their other seniors daw is T. Ayie. Then theres T. Elsie daw who is the OT of the kid of the owner of QLD. Sis, do they charge ba for the notes they give in thera?

cornnesmom: Sis m not sure ha. Basta in the policy sheet of Thera i saw lang the breakdown of fees. It says there "monthly, quarterly sessions, including prgress notes and home program" P1250... pero sis I might be mistaken maybe thats what they charge for a home program.

Basta theyre policy is P200 deduction if you cancel ur appt before 9am. They will return the money if u are able to makeup within 2 weeks depending on the sched of the therapist. Syempre theyre always full naman. Tapos P450 for no-show. Then ur kicked out if ur absent 50%.

I have this book which was given to me by my mom's friend who is a speech therapist also. They're based in the US so I wouldn't know really where to get this locally aside from national.
