If you have family or relatives who will "sponsor" your stay here in the US, whatever you have in your bank account now should be fine. Sometimes they don't ask for proof of assets during the time of the interview... and if they do, even those who have millions in their bank account can still get denied. Your appearance should convey who you are -- if you are a student, you should look like a student; if you're a professional, you should look like one.Consular officers are very smart. They can figure out your true intentions in the way you will answer their questions.
