^^Yung RAIU and thyroid scan ko before sa MMC pa-inject yung dye. Wala naman any discomfort afterwards unless you are allergic to seafood.

^Parang ganyan yung case ng mother ko. Palaging normal yung TSH. She's taking thyroid hormone ngayon and every 6 months yung repeat ng mga blood test nya. Napaka-gastos ::)

Today I started na with Eltroxin 100mcg. Will have my blood test done again after 1 1/2 month.

Per Dr. Tan Ci Shou's leaflets ( TCM - alternative medicine ), clients with goiter/thyroid should avoid cabbage, radish, eggplant and carrots. Hope it helps.  :)

I asked my  ENT about my thyroid but wala akong dalang mga lab test dahil hindi naman yun yung sadya ko.  Ang sabi niya minsan nagiging abnormal ang blood test due to stress, pagod and etc. kaya dapat relax for a week before magpa blood test.

Hello newbie here.
Sorry don't know how to post so I replied to this post na lang:)

For those who went under the knife for total thyroidectomy, how much did it cost and in which hospital?
May nagpa-surgery na ba dito sa Southern Luzon Hospital in Laguna? how much kaya dito. Bukas pa kasi clinic ng doctor ko. She has no mentioned kasi magkano ang surgery. 150k lang kasi covered ng HMO ko.

I am neither hypo nor hyper but I have nodules. Diagnosis is non-toxic goiter and my doctor advised total thyroidectomy since nasa 5cm na yung bukol 2 sa right and a few sa left. Ayoko rin kasi mag-medication kasi matagalan and baka maapektuhan liver ko.

Sana may mag-reply.
Thanks

sis princess, hindi nakasulat reason sa leaflets kasi yun mga foods and activities to avoid lang naka-indicate depende sa sakit mo. Though when you google it, they belong daw to goitrogens which stimulate goiter. By the way, may separate thread din si Dr. Tan also under health concerns for further references. :)

sis soumy01, baka you have thyroiditis. ganyan din kasi ako, from hyper naging hypo. unang consultation ko pa lang with my endo, suspetsa niya thyroiditis na. i have mixed symptoms kasi. sa RAUI and thyroid scan yun nadetect. kasi kung blood test lang, you're just either hypo or hyper, hindi madedetect if you have thyroiditis.

Every morning lang naman tine-take before breakfast pa.

Tapos yung pag nag-pee or poop ako, twice ko pina-flush plus lysol just to make sure na thoroughly flushed yun inexcrete ko. Toxic pa din kasi yon because of RAI.

Wag ka mag pa thyroidectomy. I personally don't believe in removing any body part especially when it's a vital organ. Sana Malaman mo cause ng nodules mo so you can address it. Baka kelang ka sa iodine, the thyroid itself keeps 50mg of it to function properly. Try to get second opinion from alternative doctors.

True. It depletes our iodine Kasi. But I think the benefits outweigh the disadvantage.

@Princess_chill, my aunt is hypo now. She had radiation years when she was young, may pinainum Lang daw for her goiter yun. Ako Lang nagsabi sa kanya to have her thyroid checkup recently I have been reading stuff e. ayun me thyrax Medicine na siya now. And her doctors don't believe in iodine supplements like kelp. They are not taught that in medical school. But Japanese eats lots of seaweed in maki.

I have always had normal blood t3 t4 ft4 tsh tests annually. I also had thyroid scan normal, once. My allergologist said wag na pansinin comments ng mga other doctors and people about my chubby neck. Diraw mag change thyroid ko until my next life event, like getting pregnant, or the next 5-10 years of my life siguro. My mom and Lola and dad Kasi have thyroid problems din.
