^ We don't really diagnose Allergic rhinitis at that age since getting colds is quite common in young infants due to their immature nasal anatomy.
Do you have a strong family history of allergic rhinitis, asthma or atopic dermatitis? Are you breastfeeding?

^ My suggestions:
1. Check/Review your feeding technique. Make sure that her head is elevated when you are feeding her to avoid aspiration. Never ever feed while she is lying down.
2. Check the flow of the nipple that you are using to feed her. Dapat low flow lang.
3. Since there is history of asthma on both sides, I strongly suggest you start breastfeeding to help protect against the development of allergies. Your baby is only 3 weeks old so it is not too late to start.  :)

hi!we had her checked kanina kay dr.luis rivera of asian hospital..he checked nga yung flow ng nipple ni baby masyado daw mabilis so pinapapalitan niya,and ang cause daw ng coughing habang nagmimilk siya is because of the sipon nga..clear naman daw ang lungs..at yun nga nasasamid siya everytime na nag mimilk...nag re-relactate na ko kasi madami pa naman lumalabas..thanks sis for the time :)

^ That's good, sis. I suggest you also visit the breastfeeding thread for tips.  :) Studies show kasi that breastfeeding helps to delay/prevent the onset of allergies.

My son has been diagnosed with Asthma. He got it from his Lolo sa side ni hubby, sya naman has allergic rhinitis.

He is 4yo now and ganun pa din, ubuhin at hinihingal sya pagtulog.

I hope na this time e umeffect na ang gmot nya and follow up next week.

:'( waaahh...

so either i see a pulmo or allergologist naman next time...

It is possible for a patient to have both allergic rhinitis and asthma. This is called the one airway disease. Sometimes, pati skin asthma or atopic dermatitis pa nga.
Asthma, kasi, may be triggered by uncontrolled or poorly treated allergic rhinitis.
If the symptoms are getting persistent, it is advisable to have the child checked up already.

^ Asthma may present with chronic cough, wheezing (sipol sa paghinga), shortness of breath, etc. One clue if Asthma ang cause ng cough is if there is improvement after Salbutamol is given.
It is likely that the sore throat and itchy eyes that your baby has been experiencing is still related to her allergic rhinitis kasi those are some of the complications of allergic rhinitis. The sore throat may be due to post nasal drip or due to mouth breathing (if barado ang nose, most of the time, may mouth breathing). Sometimes, pwede rin lumaki ang tonsils due to constant irritation from the post nasal drip. Pag barado rin ang nose, pwede rin mamaga ang eyes, it can be itchy and watery, too. This is a type of sore eyes pero hindi infection ang cause. It's what we call allergic conjunctivitis.
Other complications are frequent ear infections, sinusitis, pharyngitis as well as development of asthma.
Benadryl is only short acting. Kapag may complications na, dapat ma-evaluate ng allergist so that proper treatment can be started.

actually ive stopped using powder on my daughter mga 2 weeks na ..at first i thought mahirap kasi super pawisin sya, kaya prati nanlalagkit. pero kaya naman pala, basta magwash/wipe sya and change clothes when we're out, dinadagdagan ko na lang yung extra clothes na baon nya :) but still, im looking for the cornstarch powder para lang just in case super init. siguro nasanay lang kasi ako since baby sya pag pawis - polbo agad...kaya medyo naninibago lang ako ngayon hehe..

@doc leletmd

doc sa case kasi ng kid ko, nung inuubo siya sa gabi no phlegm, sabi ng pulmo asthma. pag ganun po ba ibig sabihin the coughing is actually asthma attack na? though walang wheezing, ubo lang po talaga.

thank you po...

@katkat:
You don't need to present with wheezing to diagnose asthma. It can present as just night time or early morning cough without wheezing.
If a child with asthma has persistent cough or tuloy tuloy/sunod sunod na episodic cough, then it is possible that the child is having an asthma attack na. If hindi ka sure, then better to have the child evaluated during the attack so proper treatment can be given.
