Allergic rhinitis?

i've read na -elevate daw ang head ni baby while sleeping, pwede na ba 3 month old sa unan natin? or ok na yun unan niya from mga pillow set?

also yun humidifier daw helps a lot din, me ma recommend ba kayo na brand dito? and anong type pala, warm mist or cool mist?

mga sis, parang me allergic rhinitis ata si baby, 3 month old pa lang siya, every morning umiiyak siya dahil congested nose niya, i tried using salinase, iiyak siya pagkapatak ko then titigil naman. me iba pa bang way para maiwasan ito, madaling araw lang kasi siya ganito. me dapat ba akong iwasan like huwag malakas ang aircon or ang fan para maiwasan na mag ganun siya?

At 3 months of age, medyo too early pa for your baby to have allergic rhinitis (unless you really have a strong family of allergies). Madali kasi magbara ang nose ng babies because of the anatomical features at this age. Also, cold air can cause nasal congestion (vasomotor rhinitis) so pwedeng yung malakas na aircon is contributing to her nasal congestion. Try making the aircon not too cold baka sakaling mawala ang nasal congestion. Also ok lang electric fan in the room, but not directly in front of her.
Try also frequent changing of beddings, washing with the last rinse done in hot water and ironing her sheets and clothes to lessen her exposure to the house dust mites.

after our visit from our homeopathic pedia my kids were prescribed Allium (natural medicine) for their allergic rhinitis. sign of sneezing and runny nose i give this. wala agad un itchy nose. even I uses this coz may AR din ako.

immune na kasi un eldest ko sa antihistamine na tinake nya for quite some time. mawawala pero babalik din agad kaya i consulted a natural med pedia

^^ thanks doc, sa tingin ko nga yun aircon ata, kasi nga nasira yun pang adjust kaya malamig. pero do, kagabi kasi kinapalan ko suot niya hindi na nag congest yun nose niya sa gabi, pero sa umaga mga 6 me konting bara pa din, mga 4 am namin pinatay yun aircon. why kaya? today nagpalit na din ako ng sheets niya.

^ If your baby is still developing early morning nasal congestion despite the turned down aircon, then maybe she/he's developing an allergic reaction to house dust mites (HDM). Late night/early morning sneezing and nasal congestion is typical of HDM triggered allergic rhinitis since HDM usually comes out late at night to feed on our dead skin.

Anong gamot dito? Nadiagnose din nito ang son ko antihistamine lang binigay ng pedia niya. He's now 10 years old pero every morning palagi pa rin may sipon ang nahahatsing kaya di kami nawawalan ng tissue sa bahay. Wala naman kami lahi ng asthma. I stopped giving him antihistamine as told by the doctor. Naaawa nga ako kasi tinutukso daw siya ng classmates niya sa skul na palagi nalang may sipon.

^ If it is occurring daily and it is affecting his quality of life, then I suggest that you bring him to an allergy specialist already so the severity of his illness, his trigger factors, etc can be determined and assessed. From there, the allergist can determine the proper treatment plan for him.

ask ko lang po opinion nyo if okay lang po ang celestamine for a 4 mo. old baby?.. as for asmalin kasi, may note na under 2 yrs. as prescribed by a physician, pero celestamine is for children 2 yrs. above..

his pedia is suspecting the start of asthma na eh.. coz everytime umuubo ang son ko, usually ng malakas, nagvovomit sya.. and should we stop giving him vitamins coz everytime we give him vitamins or solmux, nagvovomit talaga sya..

after nya magvomit, happy baby na uli sya, active na uli.. d naman sya matamlay..

any opinion pls. thanks much..

Do you have a strong family history of allergies or asthma? Is he breastfed?
We don't really diagnose asthma below 2 years of age unless there is a strong evidence that it is really asthma, such as recurrent episodic cough with strong family history of allergies and asthma and immediate response to asthma meds.
Marami kasing viral infections at that age group that sounds like asthma and may present with wheezing as well as hingal.
Aside from viral infections, marami pang ibang pwedeng mag-cause ng wheezing at that age group, such as cardiac diseases and Gastro-esophageal reflux or GERD.
Also, kids less than 7 years old don't really know how to expel phlegm kaya ang tendency is to vomit it out or ilunok nila. Vomiting phlegm is not a symptom of asthma. If a baby or a child coughs after feeding and vomits phlegm, this may be a sign of GERD.
Celestamine is a combination of anti-histamine and a steroid and as much as possible, we don't give it to kids less than 2 years old, unless there is no other alternative. 
When in doubt, you can always clear this up with your pedia. Maybe it would be better to ask her why celestamine was prescribed.

thanks for the reply doc.. i have allergic rhinitis, my dad has asthma, pati din ang bro ko..

hindi po sya breastfed.. Nan1 HW ang milk nya..

mula kasi nung earlier months ni baby nagsneeze na sya and dati nagrarashes sya so may 0.85ml allerkid syang maintenance.. as for now na nagvovomit sya after coughing, stop daw po muna and allerkid, 1.5ml celestamine 3x/day for 3 days and 2ml asmalin every 6 hours daw muna sya..

i've just noticed that my son could have AR (I do) kasi recently talaga, he'd get stuffy nose and sneezing fits when the weather changes... at first I thought, "colds na naman" pero it doesn't progress eh.... and like me din, he'd be sneezing before it starts raining, hehe

hopefully lang talaga it's mild lang and continue to not annoy him

My children go to Dr. Michelle de Vera at Medical City.  She also has a clinic at St. Luke's QC.

My immunologist (when I was pregnant) is Dr. Jovy Abong.  She also has patients na children.  Her clinic is at Asian Hospital.

Both of them are UP-PGH grads.

hi sis just want to ask something.kasi may 2nd baby is only 3 weeks old,we had her check sa pedia niya and sabi may allergic rhinitis daw since sa gabi and sa umaga nag ssneeze and may cough din pero buong day naman wala,actually pag pinapadede ko at umiinom ng water dun lang umuubo,siguro sa 3 hours uubo mga 2 times lang..she gave her allerkid..but as i've read sa mga post you said na pag sobrang baby parang it's too early to tell kung allergic rhinitis nga...so what do you think sis?

^ We don't really diagnose Allergic rhinitis at that age since getting colds is quite common in young infants due to their immature nasal anatomy.
Re: cough pag nagwawater, hindi ba siya nasasamid kaya siya nagcocough?
Do you have a strong family history of allergic rhinitis, asthma or atopic dermatitis? Are you breastfeeding?
Hindi ba masyadong malamig ang aircon temp niyo at night?
