Allergic rhinitis?

for how long can i let my kid take Allerkid and Montiget (montelukast)? kasi hmm medyo mago-one year na sya nagttake non daily. parati sya may sipon specially before matulog and pagkagising. saka may dry spots sa skin (singit singit like back of elbow/knee, armpit) which i think caused my allergy din.

^pag may attack un anak ko sabi ng pulmo nya 5-7 dyas un allerkid. pero kung once in a while may attack you can give. montelukast was prescribed for 2mos kay kuya tho hindi effective.

allergic rhinitis un sis. dapat tama un temp ng room nya. not so cold not so hot. un ang nag trigger ng sipon nya. i think may atopic dermatitis un anak mo. ganyan ang kids ko. better visit a pedia-derma para ma manage un skin ng bata.

ingatan mo mabuti un kid mo sis. those mentioned can lead to asthma.

^oo nga eh.. actually inatake na sya ng asthma once before..may nebulizer na din kami dito sa bahay. bali [textspeak!] allerkid kasi and montiget has been part of her daily supplements/medications na eh..matagal tagal nya na gamit yun (as per pedia's advised), wala naman kasi sinabi kung until when. pero i remember its safe naman..para prevention na din. pero gusto ko lang malaman kung sa ibang mommies dito ganun din ba.

^ sis ganyan ako ng bata pa ako.. wala pang montiget noon. hehe.. and allerkid... yung mga rashes sa singit singit, ganyan ako 'til now. hindi pwede mapawisan ng matagal, punas parati. ng medyo malaki na ako, nag dadamp ako ng powder to lessen the itchiness and yung irritation. pero asthmatic din kasi ako kaya in some areas lang pwede...same thing, my 2 sons got it. they have asthma, allergic rhinitis and atopic dermatitis.. magkakapatid mga yan...yung eldest ko, mag 2mos ng nag momontelukast at yung ubo at sipon pabalik balik... hindi ko na nga alam gagawin to prevent it. i changed the fabric softener to dell, no cologne/perfume, no scented achuchuchu, no chocolates... naawa na nga ako. pero kaunting pawis lang, ayan na... kaunting lamig lang, ayan na... haaay...

^Pag umiinom ba ng montelukast dapat hindi na sisipunin o uubuhin?  Kasi yung anak ko umiinom pero may sipon siya now.

^Montelukast won't protect your child from viruses, so yup, he/she can still catch a cold.  BUT, what it can do is to prevent the virus from trigerring an asthma attack.

Pag pinainom ng Montelukast yung kid ibig sabihin may asthma na yung kid? tama ba pagkakaintindi ko or hindi?

^ No, it doesn't necessarily mean the kid has asthma na. Montelukast is used to treat asthma OR allergic rhinitis.

thank you so much for this thread and sa mga sis natin na nagpopost ng answers. My concern naman is my 2.5 month old na baby na since birth may halak, cough and ang [textspeak!] mawala na parang acne sa face nya sobrang nakakaawa everytime ubo siya to the point na nilalagnat na sha. as of now ang dami na nya natake na meds! Himox, Virlix, Nebules nya: combivent, ventolin & another one na steriods (He took it for 3 days only. meron din sha sterimar pero ganun pa din.

He's purely breastfed so advise sa akin ng pedia to go on a hypoallergenic diet, No chicken, seafoods, milk/dairy products, peanuts. Talaga bang may effect yung kinakain ko sa case nya?

ang concern ko din grabe buong face nya ang dami rashes/acne! minsan [textspeak!] sha makapagmilk sa sobrang kati. I put physiogel AI for this pero ganun pa din, soap nya cetaphil.

nag xray sa last december, Central Bronchial Inflammatory Disease ang diagnosis pero too soon daw para masabi na allergy or asthma .

I don't know what to do na. ang liit liit pa lang nya dami na nya natake na meds

We don't have AR pero ako 5 years na ako may urticaria.

^ Sis, may effect talaga because the allergens in allergenic food may be transmitted to your breastmilk.

Sis, pacheck mo kaya sa pedia-allergologist ang baby mo?  Yung PA ng kids ko magaling.

sis, i have a pulmo-pedia specialist for my babies... my eldest were diagnosed with PC when he was 4mos old. kaya we consulted for more opinions by a lot of specialist. kaya may pulmo-pedia mga kids ko. lalo na, kami ni hubby may allergic rhinitis, asthma and ako atopic dermatitis. i have a 3.4yr old boy and a 6month old baby boy.my 2nd baby (6mos old) is exclusively bfeeding til now. same as yours, nag snort si baby ko kapag naka inom ako ng milk or dairy products. ng una, akala ko may sipon or ubo na sya. kasi talagang parang may naka bara sa nose nya na mucous.now i test the food i eat in a week if there's an effect on him. dairy products ang nag rereact talaga sa kanya. as of now, i can't eat any food with milk, icecream, butter, leche flan, buko pie... etong mga 'to kahit less than a teaspoon may reaction na sa kanya... moderation of cheese, chocolates, cakes - - eto kapag madami na ako nakain nito everyday, mag rereact din kay baby...peanuts - good thing wala naman reaction sa kanya 'to. i tried macademia, almonds, peanut, ok naman...in a way, para din tuloy ako nag didiet... kasi im a sweet lover, eto ang nag papataba sakin...

Sis, there is an allergist practicing in Laguna. She is Dr. Paulita Teruel. She holds clinic in Calamba Medical Center and Los Banos Doctor's Hospital.
Kung Asian naman, at the same time, UP PGH consultant, there's Dr. Jovie Abong, Dr. Marysia Recto, Dr. Lara Aleta and Dr. Cherie Cervantes. Other Asian Allergists: Dr. Tiza Santos - Abes, Dr. Manuel Canlas, Dr. CJ Gloria, Dr. Sandy Ortigas, etc.
If you backread, I posted a website link for the clinics and schedules of members of the Philippine Society of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology so our sisses here can find an allergist near their areas/locations.
Also, with the history that you provided regarding your child's condition, mukhang warranted na talaga ang specialist consultation since at an early age, nabigyan na siya kaagad ng maraming meds. I would also agree regarding limiting dairy, eggs and nuts in your diet since allergens may be passed on to your baby through breastfeeding.

^^^I can also recommend my son's Pedia-Pulmonologist sa Asian, Dr. Arneil Suratos.  I like him kasi hindi overkill mag-prescribe ng gamot.  He's been taking care of my son for 13 yrs. na.  His wife Dra. Suratos is a derma, same office din sa Asian. When my son had allergy/asthma related skin issues, si Dra. Suratos naman ang nag-manage.  Convenient to have the husband-wife team kasi they can consult each other.

too early to tell nga. since baby pa sya maliit pa un lungs nila. kung malagyan nga plema ang lungs magkakaroon ng wheezing similar na may asthma. but that wheezing was induced by the virus. closer observation talaga mabuti.

Yung baby ko, mga 3x na sya sinipon since he was born.  He is now 5 months old.  Mukhang allergy sya really and not sipon.  His older sister (just turned 3 yo.) also has allergic rhinitis.  Pero ang binigay ng pedia sa daughter ko homeopathic medicines lang kasi ako as much as possible ayoko bigyan ang mga bata ng gamot.  Pag may cough din daughter ko (because of the allergic rhinitis, minsan it leads to asthmatic bronchitis), nebulize sya with combivent.  Nawawala naman allergic rhinitis nya and the cough.  I checked with the pedia if I can also give the homeopathic meds to my baby pag nagkakasipon (kawawa minsan kasi super barado ilong), and she gave the go-signal.  Napapabilis ang pag galing and mas mabilis mawala yung nasal congestion.
