Masama din loob ko sa mommy ko we did not have a happy family life and madami traumatic event sa family life namin especially sa akin.

There are some bad habits talaga that annoy me about my mom and even though ive already talked to ber about it inuulit pa rin niya. For example talking on the phone with my tita about me, my friends, lovelife. Nakakairita lang kasi naririnig ko [textspeak!] sinasabi niya about me while she's on the phone

I told her na im sick and tired of it and she just tells me wala naman masama dun pero for me yes of course walang masama but its my personal life diba, i wouldn't want other people to know about it. For me it's a form of chismis na and this is a hard habit to break. Sobrang pet peeve ko talaga everytime i hear her talking about me, nakakasawa na. I mean ok lang if i was a small child, i wouldn't know what's going on pero syempre now i know what's really going on i just hope na if she can't break this habit she should just talk about me not when im in the same room pero dun nalang sa ibang kwarto kasi parang sinasadya niya na nagpaparinig siya.  ::) etong tita din namin kasi mahilig din chumika... Haiz mga sis what do i do?

We may not understand His plans of placing those kinds of moms in your lives but we just have  to trust Him. Time heals all wounds.

i also believe that everything has a reason kung bakit natin sila naging mom and i would say na because of what i experience with her makes me a better person so i am still thankful to God na sya naging mom ko.

Can we have enough of the "you don't really hate your mom" posts? If that's the emotion we feel towards our moms, then that's the emotion we feel. Why are you trying to invalidate it, or think it's not real? I understand that there is some kind of taboo surrounding the maternal relationship, as if it's a magical connection that cannot be broken or corrupted. In the end, mothers are just humans, too, and they make mistakes. If her mistake is truly unforgivable, why should she be given a pass just because she's a mom, even more so if she was the hurtful, neglectful, toxic, and emotionally absent kind of mother? You cannot force love on anyone, not even your own mother. These kind of comments also seem to come mostly from those who have wonderful mothers, so you are really in no position to judge us who do not have as perfect mothers as yours.

That said, my mom has her major flaws, and I tolerated them all when I was still living under her roof. Now that I'm not, I still have to tolerate them. Nakakasama na talaga ng loob. She never asks how I am (I'm always the only one texting/calling.)  She only contacts me about things related to money. I'm the child who's doing well in life, but all of my decisions -- my house, my car, my choice to live in the province -- lahat may pintas, and do not live up to her expectations. Her expectations, by the way, are up to her level, which is a rich, living-on-retirement senior citizen level, and not a young family just starting in life. So my house will never be big enough, my car will never be new enough, in her eyes, the province will never be good enough, as if Manila is the only place in the world to live.

Back when I was still trying to get pregnant, she badgered me endlessly for a grandchild. When I finally was pregnant, I brought her to a restaurant, and broke the good news. The first thing out of her mouth was, "O, ano gusto mo, reaction ko parang sa movies?." Total 180. When I flew my baby to Manila so they could at least meet (which she was so excited about previously -- she even bought a new car just for her apo,) she hardly held my baby, saying that her body aches and pains hinder her from doing so. Fine, I get it. But then she also told me, "Sino ba may sabi na dalhin mo anak mo dito?" and "Bakit? Obligasyon ko ba alagaan anak mo?." This was after badgering me 24/7 for a grandchild. We also had a yaya that time. Now, once in a while, she would ask for pictures of her apo, but after what she said, I doubt her sincerity behind those messages. I don't get her sudden about-faces.

She's become an even more selfish woman in her older years, and she's using her aches and pains as reasons for her selfishness. If you don't do what she tells you or if you inconvenience her, she will cut you out of her life. So, say, she wants you to drive her somewhere, but you have earlier obligations that'll make you late, she'll be angry, brand you as unreliable, and go hire a driver. So now, all the people around her are only the paid ones. The rest of us, her husband, and her children -- we are not to be depended on, because we are not able to wait on her hand and foot.

She asked me to travel with her recently, and she basically told me that I shouldn't say anything bad to her. Of course -- that's because she neeevvveeeer does anything na kapuna-puna. So nothing really happened, but then I heard her over the phone telling her kumare that our trip was going well because she told me to keep my mouth shut. Well, that was a real downer. She thought the trip was going okay because she had me controlled, and not because, you know, we were actually getting along.

Now that I have my own child to take care of, I thought I could turn to my mom for motherly advice. But instead, I found out that my mom didn't really care for us as babies and children. It was always the yaya. So she doesn't know how to change a diaper, how to soothe a teething child, what age babies start to walk and talk -- nothing. Now that I look back, my mother was never present in my childhood or even my teen years. She wasn't a hurtful mom, but she just wasn't there.

I think my mom loves herself more than us. She's workig abroad at bihira lang siya magbigay samin ng pera to provide out needs, kung magbibigay man madami sasabihin. She saves money for herself at sa mga kapatid niya, generous siya sa mga kapatid niya yun ang mas tinutulungan niya imbes na kaming mga anak niya. Hindi ko maintindihan kung bakit ganun, basta iba siya, selfish an all. Pag andito siya sa pinas she will shop for herself, kasama ako pero sasabihin niya next time nalang ako mamili tapos yung next time na yun di na mangyayari.

I agree. I'm among the unfortunate ones who grew up with an abusive mother (though my older sister got it worse) and I would never question someone who went through even half of what we went through, or dictate how they should feel otherwise. The fact is that terrible mothers do exist, and if sharing stories in a thread like this is one method of coping, then so be it, no judgment. Huwag na yung pakiramdam pa eh people are making light of our situation, na I'm the one who's wrong and misguided, na it's just a phase, etc. Yeah, for some it's just a phase, but for some it's not. Wala naman sigurong gusto mag-share ng I-hate-my-mom stories unless it's really bothering them.

^Bearing children doesn't mean you're automatically mean you're already a good mother.  In the same way, not being able to have children doesn't mean you can't be a good mom.

I love my mom, even though she's not my biological mother.  She's far from perfect, but I love her and she was never abusive to me.  Overprotective, yes.  Talakera, oh yes.  But abusive, never.  She's not one to lavish praises on me when I was  young, but you could see how she would fight for me pag inagrabyado ako.  When I was a kid, she would always save for me my favorite food, kahit na parehas naming gusto, she would give it to me rather than eat it herself.  Never nya ako pinalo in all my life.  One time, she smacked my bottom pero it was so light, I hardly felt it.  Then afterwards, mas malakas pa ata iyak nya sa akin because of that.

However, I know there are some mothers out there who don't treat their kids right.  I've seen women abandoning their small children as if wala lang and for really selfish reasons. One of the ironies of life na nga siguro is that women who really want kids and can provide for them sometimes are the ones who can't have them.  Tapos those women who can easily bear children don't even seem to give a s**t about them.

My heart goes out to our sisters who have suffered at the hands of their own mothers.

Grabe, I want to read this thread from time to time to remind myself on how I can stop myself from being a terrible mother when the right time comes. Some even tell me that doing this can be the result of an extended post-partum depression. Sana di mangyari yun sa akin. :(

Mga sisses, thank you for sharing your stories here and I hope that you grow up to become loving and caring moms in the future despite the treatment that your moms gave you.

After niyang mawala, marami akong narealized sa life ko.

In your case, ang sad naman niyan =(

I can relate with this post. PEro sakin yung mama ko naman she just spent her money with herself. Maswerte lang ako sa papa ko kasi he's a good man. A way way good compared to my mother. Iba sya. She works for herself. She buy stuffs for herself not for us.

i can still remember - yung bata ako lagi ako pinapalo ng mama ko, hanggang college actually nabubugbog pa ako. one time pumasok ako, may pasa pa talaga. i had to lie sa mga schoolmates ko para di naman din ako mapahiya syempre. pero despite that, di ko kayang sabihin na i Hate my mom. siguro may dahilan kung bakit nya ginawa yun. maybe pasaway nga ako that time - isip isip ko nga, sobrang bait kong anak, baka kung nagkataon at iba naging anak nya eh matagal na naglayas. Though yung kapatid ko, nakaya nyang tiisin mama ko. siguro nga, there's something about my mom, she's overprotective kasi.

For sure, she has reasons kung bakit ganon. And lastly, ilang taon na ikaw? Baka feeling nya too young pa ikaw?

Now that i'm married, i'm thankful na nakawala ako sa relationship na yun. Take note, muntik pa kaming nagpa secret marriage kuno. hehe! kasi feeling ko talaga love na love ko sya that time. Naging addict, and up to now, di parin tapos sa pag aaral nya. As in napariwara ang buhay nya. Buti nalagn talaga.  ::)

My case may be different from your case, pero maganda rin na kuaspin mo mother mo. ask her to give your BF a chance. malay mo mali din naman pala sya.

Sis katrina, we have the same story. Hehe! At sana I took advantage my mom's instinct! sayang!  Most of my girlfriends have the same experience similar to that too., at ang sinasabi din nila, sana nakinig sila sa mga nanay nila! haha So yun sis carefreesoul - you may want to check also you mom's perspective. :)
