:( any pre school by greenhills, san juan or addition hills area?

for me, i wont choose a school na malayo, kawawa si kiddo.. preschool pa lang naman sis hanap hanap na lang sa mga malapit lang sa house nyo..

i enrolled my kiddo too in a nearby school lang coz i can't bring her to and from school everyday coz im working.. which made me decide to send her in the nearest school which accepts kids her age.. she will be a nursery student this coming June. That's fine with me, besides, nursery is just optional for 3yo. When she grows a little bit more, perhaps in K2, i can learn to trust school service by then, that's the time i plan to transfer her to a bigger school na. For now, she will be going to Breamar Christian School along Bonny Serrano Ave since it is the one closest to our condo.. walking distance lang, less than 5 establishments away from our condo entrance.. no crossing the street pa.. i checked and it is okay naman, even the teachers are accommodating.. i just need to send her somewhere, where she will learn new things aside from TV and her usual toys.. and more importantly meet new people, friends, classmates aside from her yaya.. :) i know i am making the right decision for my kiddo! :)

I need your inputs, mga sis.

My daughter who is turning 5 next month is currently in Kinder 2. Problem is, super bagal magsulat. Sya laging nahuhuli umuwi. Direcho K2 because of her age daw. Ang kaso, i can feel the pressure na ng anak ko. At first nageenjoy sya pumasok sa school. As in everyday malungkot. We do practice writing at home but still, mabagal pa rin talaga magsulat. We're thinking na ilipat na lang sya ng school then mag-Kinder 1 muna sya para masanay sa pagsusulat. Ayaw ko talaga mapressure yung anak ko, first time nya magschool and ayoko naman ganito ang experience nya, ayoko ng pressured sya eh. You think okay lang na i-Kinder 1 muna sya, given the situation?

^ Ano ba yung sinusulat?

Talk to the teacher and ask her how you can help your daughter.

We talked to her teacher na and ang sabi praktisin magsulat at home, na ginagawa namin kaso mabagal pa rin magsulat. Then malungkot na yung face nya.

^In my opinion, you can help her by practicing her hand-eye coordination kasi yung activity that she needs to improve on involves copying (eye--visual) and writing (hand--motor). Check this article for suggested activities: http://www.therapystreetforkids.com/EyeHandCoord.html

And maybe don't pressure her by telling her na galingan nya, bilisan nya. Let her know that she can take her time, just do it right, and that you'll wait for her. As for her classmates, maybe you can tell her na ganun talaga ang mga bata, iba-iba. Some can run faster, eat faster, jump higher, then highlight what she's good at. Her learning curve should not necessarily be the same as her classmates.

1.  Stay in Kinder 2

Pros:  Pasok sa age requirement ang age ng anak mo, which is critical to K-12, no need to transfer schools, the "pressure" will prepare her for the more rigid academic program of big school (assuming you will transfer your daughter to a bigger school by grade 1)

Cons: Pressure for your daughter to write faster (but as DV correctly pointed, this will hopefully be resolved in time kasi iba-iba nga ang pacing ng mga kids), loss of self-esteem

2. Transfer to another school/Kinder 1

Pros:  Your daughter might find it easier to adjust, less pressure (depends on the school), baka mas appropriate sa kanyang maturity and skill set sa ngayon ang Kinder 1

Cons: New environment and thus, mag-aadjust na naman kayo, this might set a precedent and give the impression to your daughter that if schoolwork is difficult, puwede naman lumipat ng ibang school (or there is a stop-gap solution for life's challenges), assess also the consequences sa big school requirements, especially sa K-12 factor (grade 1 entry age is now 6 years old, instead of 7)

we are in the same situation sis. my kiddo din is a first timer in school and dapat sa nursery lang namin siya ipapasok. pero after ng assessment and summer camp, sabi ng mga teacher, he should join the kinder class daw which is K2 in some school. nung una ang laki din ng takot ko kasi hindi pa siya marunong magsulat at talagang kita ko sa kanya na napepressure siya. pero patience lang talaga sa pagtuturo at iba talaga ang nagagawa ng pinupuri namin siya everytime he was able to write a letter. nahirapan kami sa may mga curves na letter at nung una sobrang frustrated na ako. na parang gusto kong pakiusapan yung teacher na ilagay na lang siya sa nursery class. but the teacher showed me the result of their assessment test nung first week and voila, gulat na gulat ako sa result ng exam. sa dalawang test, he got 42/50 in math and 27/30 in reading. sabi pa, mas nataasan pa niya yung ibang kaklase niya na dumaan ng nursery. sabi ng teacher, hindi lang naman writing ang ituturo the whole year at madami daw alam ang anak ko na tama lang sa level niya ngayon.

naisip din namin ni hubby na he will find nursery too easy and hindi din maganda na walang challenge. a little pressure is enough. kaya eto nasa Kinder class pa din siya and i can see na naeenjoy na niya. basta ang ginagawa na lang namin, tinututukan siya sa mga assignment lalo na sa writing. i am thinking nga na maghanap ng tutor sa writing kaya lang ang hirap maghanap.

i advice you na weigh things first. alin ba yung mas madami if pros or cons before you decide. kasi kahit ako, naiiyak ako nung nung unang nakita kong frustrated siya. kaya alam ko ano nararamdaman mo.

Thanks for the help, DV, marose17, khayzee.  :)

The only problem is yun nga, writing lang talaga. We'll stick to K2 na lang and todo practice writing na lang talaga para masanay.

I have one in my class just like that. To discourage him, kung di siya makatapos on time, no play time for him. Kung makatapos sya on time, reward for him and his group ( I group my class into 3 groups).
I told the parents to practice his fine motor skills at home as well.

Mommies, just wanted to ask, especially dun sa mga may first-time preschoolers, do you sometimes feel na mas pressured kayo pagdating sa grades/school performance than your own kids? ako kasi admittedly ganun - mas nalulungkot ako pag wala syang star or pag good lang at hindi very good (OA ba ko?) ang rating ng performance nya for the day. Pag may mali sya sa test/quiz/seatwork (she's only had two mistakes so far sa lahat ng school work nya), ako din ang affected. I feel like a crazy mom sometimes for feeling like this...

I'm working hard to change my attitude kasi ayoko namang ako pa ang source of pressure ng anak ko. She's studying in a traditional school, and I can see she's really enjoying her time in class. Pag sundo ko sa kanya sa uwian, and I ask her how school is, she'd readily say school is fun with a smile on her face, tapos maya-maya may bits of kuwento na about what happened in class. Her school work (tests/seatwork/quizzes) are all really impressive, so nakikita ko naman na naiintindihan nya yung lectures nila. :(
