It depends on the school sis, some are very strict with age requirement but some are not. My son is also 5 and is entering grade 1. In my sons case he got accelerated. If makakapasa naman siya ng entrance exam age won't matter. Ask the school muna, para sure

Ang utos ng depEd, dapat pag 6 years old by october, nasa Grade 1 na ang bata. Dapat daw kasi walang preschooler na lalampas sa 5 years old maliban nalang kung may learning issues yung bata. Pero depende din sa school sis, hindi kasi lahat ng school sinusunod to. Yung mga magffollow naman, ang alam ko may exam/assessment muna.

Yung school nung isang cousin ko, ayaw lang talaga nila sumunod. Kasi yung bata, turned 6 the other day lang. Matalino yung bata kaso sakitin kaya na late sya magschool. Pero advanced sya and in fairness, pinapasa nya yung exams (sa other schools) para makapag grade one na sya. Kaso dun sa school nya, AYAW talaga sya hayaan mag grade one this june. Humihingi nga sila (my cousin)  na bigyan ng exam yung bata para makita na pwede naman na mag skip ng prep. My uncle mentioned yung ngang sabi ng DepEd na pwede na mag grade1. Pero sabi dun sa school, hindi nila pina-follow yun. And they can daw kasi PAASCU accredited sila. So may K sila wag sumunod sa DepEd kung ayaw nila. Something like that..

As I recall from the K-12 seminar I attended, sa Deped, for grade 1 admission, the child must be 6 years old by June.  Other schools, like Ateneo, have extended it to October (6 years old by October).  Sa private schools yata may leeway sila sa date of birth for acceptance to grade 1, unlike public schools which have to strictly comply.

^ The school authorities may have basis in not allowing the said child's admission to grade 1: first, yung maturity and readiness ng bata and second,  yung health issues. 

Actually,  I prefer na dumaan muna sa prep ang kids ko para mature at hinog na talaga sila bago sila mag-grade 1.  Kaso, with K-12, pasok na sila sa grade 1.

Sa ibang school naman, depende sa result ng entrance exam kung saan nila tatanggapin ang bata. Gaya ng baby ko, 3.9yo sya by june, pasado sya for kinder 1, kung magtutuloy-tuloy, 5.9yo grade 1 na rin sya. Pero yung dati nyang classmate sa playschool, 4.2yo by june, nursery lang kasi bagsak sa entrance exam for kinder. Meron din kami kapitbahay, 5yo na last march, kinder lang din. Mag grade 1 sya 7.3yo na. Mas maganda na rin sigurong flexible ang school. If ako lang, mas gusto ko rin na nursery lang sya ngayon kesa masyadong madaliin.

My daughter is turning 4 this June so I took a day off last Monday and today to scout for schools, since we reside in Malabon it's difficult for us to find a good progressive school in the area so we have to scout the nearest QC area which is in Banawe and Congressional, so far we have visited Cambridge, Our Lady of Lourdes Child Development Center, Carmel Child Development and Learning Center and Gingerbread House of Learning, since each schools has unique features it made us more difficult to decide.

I would appreciate feedback mommies if you can recommend any of the four or if there is other progressive school you can recommend?

im planning to enroll my daughter na rin this school year. late na nga kasi she's 4.4 years old na. i called up the school na malapit sa min, pasok daw sa nursery ang age ng anak ko. dalhin lang daw namin ang bata sa school and bring the requirements din then take na sya ng assessment.

question ko mga sis is paano ba usually ang entrance exam for pre-school? marunong naman sya ng alphabet, numbers, colors and shapes. she can trace letters na rin sa mga books that i bought her. i taught her na rin sounds ng bawat letter and she is able to recognize na what letter is missing when i pronounce the words. feedback naman po please.

Mga sis when you send your toddler in school are they potty trained already? My 2.10 yo son kasi not yet.

^ Yung sons ko semi-potty trained lang (wore diapers when going out and overnight, wala during the day) when they entered preschool.  Actually, big help ang school sa potty training because napabilis ang pagiging fully potty-trained nila and the school directress mismo said they would help us.  My sons went to school a few weeks before they turned 3 years old.

^I would choose the one near our house. Didn't you say ayaw mo syang ma-pressure mentally? Yung daily 2-hour travel naman would put a strain on her physically. Mas mahirap pa yang byahe when it starts raining at the beginning of the school year. Kakapagod yun, I wouldn't want to subject my child to that (plus, when she starts schooling magiging mas prone sya sa mga sakit dahil sa hawaan). Besides, hindi rin naman purely progressive yung malayong school. Yung oras na ma-save nyo from traveling, maybe you can just supplement at home (with progressive school activities).

for me, i wont choose a school na malayo, kawawa si kiddo.. preschool pa lang naman sis hanap hanap na lang sa mga malapit lang sa house nyo..

^Sis Hann-hann try mo apples and oranges inside victoneta in malabon. It's a progressive school. We're from Caloocan, I enrolled my daughter sa OLL-CDC infront of STC in D. Tuazon.
