any feedback sa Virgin Mary Immaculate School and Young Creative Minds (YCM) both are in Alabang?

Nakapag-inquire na kasi kami sa VMI and the rate for pre-nursery and nursery is P56K+ for installment basis na yan less 5% sa tuition fee if magbabayad ng full.
But i have not seen pa the classroom for nursery and their teaching methods. Kinakabahan nga ang asawa ko kasi may entrance exam for nursery baka daw di makapasa ang daughter namin 

tomorrow will visit YCM in madrigal and hanap pa rin ng mas affordable preschool.

So far, I've narrowed down our choices into three, if you could please give feedbacks on the following please do:

1. Mother Goose Playschool in Marikina
2. Little Sandbox in QC
3. Ingenium in Marikina

^I recently enrolled my child at Ingenium for summer class. His first school actually. So far, I have observed a lot of bad feedbacks from this school.

^ Sis, are you from Marikina?  Why don't you check out Kids on Focus?  The owner, Pia Ramos, is our neighbor.  I think she has PhD in Psychology from Ateneo.  There's a multiply site of KOF, as I recall, because I checked it out previously.

today is Noelle's 3rd day in advance reading and math in Woodstock Learning Center (Pasig). So far she has been enjoying it and their approach is really good. Still haven't decided where to really enroll her for June. If I am happy with the outcome then I might as well just enroll her in Woodstock na  tuition wise pwede narin. Progressive din yung approach nila. Teachers are from UP and Miriam.

montessori ba yun philosophy nila? how much yun tuition nila?

no, traditional pa din pero they balance it out with different activities: family day, the usual holiday activites, they even have poem and storytelling contest kahit nursery... wala ako masabi sa exposure ng kids in their program...
tf is P42k... i think may discount on certain month na mag-eenrol ang kids.

btw, they have summer fun activities din... P2800 only. started last april14.
try them sis... from where you ba?

The tuition fee for YCM in alabang is P104K+ exclusive of miscellaneous  and kapag installment kailangan  mag-issue ng PDC. While sa Toddlers unlimited lesser lang sila by P2-3K. What i like about sa YCM, they have worksheet and the teacher explained to us clearly kung [textspeak!]-ano ang mapag-aaralan ng mga bata per semester. Most of their teachers also are fr La Salle and Ateneo.
They have summer class pala sa YCM nasa P3K per week ang bayad, you may check their multiply site.

The amount is really out of the budget for us. kaya heto hanap ulit ng iba.

1choi_ko9 : Mommy, I just want to know what are the bad feedbacks with Ingenium? I am planning to enroll my daughter for grade1 there and gusto ko sana small school lang since am not there to monitor her all the time. She just had her assessment today. I really need all the feedbacks I can get kasi thru net lang ako naghahanap ng school and brother and sister ko lang ang pinasasama ko sa daughter ko. Am out of the country with my hubby right now plus I dunno when we'll be back. Super thanx!

^ Chili, I read your comment in mom exchange and I really feel bad that such an expensive and "Montessori" label toting school would assign writing drills to very young children.  That particular school is near my office haha.

I'm glad that you've found the right school for your son now.  We mommies must really do our research before sending our children to a school.  Expensive does not necessarily equate to good quality.

Hi Marose. Diba your kids nag summer classes in Montessori? How was it? Kasi my daughter went to Kinderhaus and she liked it and my husband thought na sige, one year lang sa Progressive school and off she goes to Holy Spirit next school year. Are you moving them too to a traditional school eventually?

^ Sis, hindi sila nag-summer.  They'll be attending regular classes sa Family Montessori starting next month. 3 hours a day lang naman.

My husband and I are planning to send them to Ateneo for prep.  I'm confident that they will handle the transition to a traditional school since their preschool has a lot of boys who eventually went to Ateneo.  In fact, 100% of those who took last year's Ateneo prep exam from the school made it to Ateneo.

Still, I am open to sending my kids to a progressive (Multiple Intelligence) or Montessori (Centro Montessori) grade school if we determine later on that it will be best for them not to attend a traditional grade school.

Marose, I thought nag summer kids mo.
Are you ready to let them go meaning leave them there the whole 3 hours? Since my daughter is the only child, the only apo on both sides and the love of our lives, I would have to stay In Kinderhaus siguro at least until she settles in well kahit nag summer na siya dun.
When she goes to Holy, she will be more mature and more outgoing at hindi nako stage mother. hahaha

^Regarding that I just wanna share a story, we went to our preschool of choice last week to finally enroll our only child (also the only apo), summer classes were still ongoing that time, the directress asked her to join the class while we were enrolling and discussing with her (directress).

When we have finally finished, I asked my daughter to say bye-bye na to the class,seemed that she enjoyed so well ayaw nya na sumama samin...sabi nya just pick her up daw later after the class! haha! eh I and hubby had to go back to work na, so I asked my neighbor who has a kid there na isabay na lang baby ko pagkasundo nya sa anak nya. haha..so i told my daughter na Tita will just pick her up (she knows nman our neighbor, and the directress/people in the school knows that also). My daughter just said okay daw. then she said bye to me! waahh haha ako pa yata mgkaka-separation anxiety haha..

@Mama Mia, I think I'm ready and I've also been building up the first day of class to my sons.   Parents and caregivers are not allowed to stay in the school premises, except for the first 2 weeks.  I hope that will not be a problem with my kids.

@pinkcoyote, I think mas matindi ang school blues and separation anxiety sa ating moms.

By the way, I'm planning to get into the school routine by the first week of June even though school starts on the 15th.  That will give my kids 2 weeks to adjust to their new morning routine.  We'll be waking them up 30 minutes earlier than usual.  We'll put them to bed by 8:30 p.m.

Question: ano dapat ko itanong or hanapin regarding sa reading program ng 1 school? Naudlot kasi yung process ng pagkatuto na pagbabasa ng anak ko kaya gusto ko sana maganda programa ng school.

May napili na ako na school, nagsummer na anak ko dito pero pero pero may nirekomenda devt pedia na school. Binisita ko kanina yung school, d ko nagustuhan

Dami sila enrollees at wait listed na kaya ni d kami tinour sa school at d nagdiscuss ng kahit ano.

^ I like the phonetic approach to reading.   I heard ito rin ginagawa sa Therabilities for OT sa kids na may special needs.  The teacher usually introduces letters through their sounds, not by the usual A-B-C-D-E. Instead of having the child memorize the alphabet first, the teacher will introduce "Ah", "Ba", "Ch", "Ca" etc., with pictures of things with the same sound for context. 

The child will associate the sound with the letter and as the child learns more sounds/letters, mas mako-connect na niya each sound with the letter, until kaya niyang pagdugtungin the whole word.  Parang ganoon ang understanding ko. This is the approach sa preschool na papasukan ng kids ko, as explained during their seminar on the 3Rs which I attended last January.  

May hand-out pala silang binigay about the phonetic approach to reading.  I will look for it.

Nahihirapan na ako ibalik yung alam nya dati kasi nauuna inis ko dun sa school (kahit mag-pray ako naglilinger yung inis so nag-i-stop ako sa pagtuturo sa anak ko). Ako naman leapfrog phonetic system yung ginamit ko na aid.

^ Mag-4 pa lang ang daughter mo, she has all the time to learn how to read. 

Siguro ang hanapin mo sa school, yung may definite approach (huwag yung "eclectic") sa reading and 3Rs in general. 

Will you push thru with your plan na mag-OT?  Kasi, another thing that you should bring up with the prospective school is if they're willing to coordinate/work hand in hand with the OT.

@Pinkcoyote- Yes! I think it's gonna be me who will have separation anxiety! But it's valid...diba?

@Marose- Aren't we excited at the same time anxious? My husband also brought up your point: early to bed, early to rise! Although malapit lang naman kami sa school.

@Stormy- So that school did not even accommodate you at all? That's a shame--- so hanap ka ng iba! There are just too many schools to welcome you and maybe even be better than the one you are peeved at. Where is your area?  You still have 3 weeks to go!

^haba yata ng pila kaya useless i-tour kami? ok lang sis sila sa akin ayun nga lang d ko nakita man lang classrooms etc kasi sa ofc lang ibinigay yung application form and ibalik na lang raw

@marose, yes thanks for reminding me nalilimutan ko yan madalas. Yes ipapa-OT ko pero mag ask ako na malapit na sa makati/fort or dvo.
