kalinga's current tuition fee is 2k/month but will have an increase this nov. medyo malaki nga ang increase (3,200 + misc. monthly) pero reasonable pa din naman. as for requirements, birth cert, med. cert and id pix.

if you're interested, you may apply your kid now so he/she will be included in their waiting list.

marose17: yan nga ang worry ko. maraming preschool malapit sa amin but these schools focus on academics. one school even prides itself with teaching 3- and 4-year-olds to read, add and subtract and 5-year-olds to multiply and divide. i find the parents' attitudes about this set-up a bit disturbing. proud din sila na pang-grade 3 na ang natutunan ng preschoolers nila. one kid from this school had a really good memory so she read well and memorized the multiplication table at 4. so the school decided to accelerate the kid and put her in grade 1 at 5 years old. sadly, the kid was not psychologically prepared for the 1st grade and lacked the social skills her older classmates had. ayun, parang na-trauma yung bata and she refused to go to school na.

kaya nagtatyaga kaming mag-commute ng 30-40 minutes to and from school so she can have a fun and relaxed learning atmosphere.

kaya lang, parang di ko kaya yung tuition nila (actually si hubby ang sure na magrereact)..more than 100k daw kasi..kayang iaccept ni hubby na mahal na ang preschool talaga (kaya pa nya ang 70-85k) pero di na nya kakayanin ang 100k (figuratively speaking)

Grabe talaga ang fee sa Explorations.  Though I've also read/heard good reviews about it, IMO, may mga preschool naman na same din sa kanila with more affordable rates.

I was able to visit the school when we were still scouting for an appropriate preschool for my eldest.  I was a bit underwhelmed actually.  I didn't know what's the fuss all about since ganun din naman set up ng ibang progressive preschool.  Plus masyado ng madami students nila and the school is not even a big one (typical preschool set-up na converted house) so medyo masikip, kulang sa open spaces/outdoor. They have at least 3 sessions per class and this was around 2007 pa ha.   

So for me, if you have the time, scout around lang coz mas marami pang ibang choices.

ilaybalilay:  There's a preschool near our village (actually, preschool siya ng isang girls' school but boys may enroll sa preschool) and very convenient na sana for us.  But I found out that they do worksheets at home.  Worksheets for 4 year-old kids seem like an overkill for me.

thanks sis! wow okey na rin at affordable. mas mahal pa pala preschool dito near our place tapos yun nga parang the set-up is not okey. at di rin maganda ang feedback. converted house lang sya.

^Kailangan ba nasa mismong Araneta ave.?  Kasi parang wala namang masyadong preschool near the vicinity (we also live around the area).  Your options would be either in Banawe area and New Manila/T.Morato area, madaming choices dun.

gelei: converted house din ang kalinga day care center but i really like the relaxed set-up, less stressful than other daycare centers/preschools i've visited. the teachers and teacher aides have good relations with the kids and they give time to chatting with the parents. i appreciate that they give me updates on my kid almost everyday, good or bad.

i also checked the preschools of the church of the risen lord in up and the up parish. i wasn't keen on the set-up of both preschools, parang nakakulong, i felt almost claustrophobic. and i'm not sure my kid would fit in "nicely", the kids seemed well-behaved. hehe..

marose17: i also don't want worksheets for my kid. they do have writing exercises at kalinga but they don't force the kids to write. her teacher told me she enjoys the writing activities but i still don't want to pressure her. no reason to rush things.

^Medyo mahirap maghanap, your best bet would be to search sites like momexchange or preschool choices.  Yan din naging difficulty ko when I was looking for a preschool for my daughter.  Most kasi ng GT mommies (at least yung mga madalas magpost dito) tagaSouth or Q.C. area na.

thanks sis! oo nga pansin ko parang nakakulong ang set-up ng pre-school sa UP parish.. yan yung nasa harap ng UP Infirmary right? what age ng toddler ang ina-accept na sis sa kalinga? thanks again.

  Try Philadelphia School along del monte ave. QC. they have toddler class and affordable tuition fee. with chinese curiculum.

anjeli: are you talking about the payment scheme? meron silang monthly installments para pag biglang tinamad si baby, di masyadong mabigat at nakakahinayang. hehe..

gelei: 1.5-5.5 ata ang age range sa kalinga. oo yun nga ang preschool ng up parish.

^kalinga daycare ba sis? it's actually a daycare center, hindi preschool. mas socialization at play-based learning sila. ok sa kalinga dahil relaxed ang atmosphere at very loving and patient ang staff.

one thing i love about kalinga is that they actively promote gender-equality. they don't have pink cubicles for girls and blue for boys. you won't hear teachers say that dolls and playing house is girls play; and that blocks and tools for carpentry are for boys.

Will enroll my daughter na at Miriam CSC (Oh well, kung makapasa sa entrance exam and interview). Ahm, tuition now is 80k plus pero good thing is they have semestral and quarterly payment na kaya hindi ganun kabigat.

for those in Makati, i highly recommend Child Learning Center... my daughter is in Kinder there.
The school accepts as young as 2.5y.o to Prep.
