^^whether it's personal or company, it will depend on your coverage and whether the doctor you're seeing is accredited by the health card or not.

btw, naka-chikahan ko yung secretary ng pedia ng kids ko. i was complaining to her that when my son got hospitalized we barely saw his attending ENT do rounds to check up on my son and parating puro residente (supposedly the doctors should be doing rounds at least once a day). we would have wanted sana to get his regular ENT kaso he was not maxicare accredited. according to the secretary ang bayad lang pala ng mga healthcard to the doctors for checkups are only around Php 250-300 lang per patient. thats why she said you wont be surprised why some doctors daw mega ignore sa mga patients if they are healthcard holders.

@snowyice, if accredited yun doctor e wala bayad.

Dito mo talaga makikita yung mga doctors who truly practice their profession from heart, and not from their pockets..hehe  ;D

^That is super true. Kaya we've had doctors before that you won't even see the whole hospitalization duration and maswerte ka na if once or twice.

But that's not suppose to be the case diba, ang siste, bakit pa sila pumayag maging accredited diba?

From my experience, 2010 when I was hospitalized during my pregnancy, naging ob ko is accredited ng maxicare - 2nd day ko na siya nakita and sa bill ko - may doctor's fee to be paid in cash. When I asked maxicare bakit meron akong babayaran - kinonfirm nila with accounting department.

Kaloka! Chinarge ako advance for my follow-up check-up, eh di pa nga ako lumalabas ng hospital, tapos chika nung mga nasa hospital - mababa lang po kasi nakukuha nila sa maxicare. But still.... diba? LOL!

Ours is Medicard.  Not covered St. Lukes Global and Asian (pero St.Lukes QC is covered).  Yun kasi ang arrangement ng company namin with Medicard

What health card to you have? Maxicare Platinum

1. Covered ba pregnancy/delivery nyo? Yes. If I go to a primary care facility (TMC, MMC, etc) delivery charges are fully covered. But since I'll be giving birth at Cardinal I think Maxoicare will cover 80%
2. How much ang covered? 80% of most expenses, up to PHP2,000/room/night and a certain amount of non-accredited professional fees depending on CS or normal.
3. Did you use your health card? Yea I use it for all lab tests, ultrasounds, prescriptions, etc
4. Is it health card + philhealth? Hmm Philhealth is offered separately right? In my case, yes I also have Philhealth
5. Direct by-card payment or thru reimbursement? If primary care facility, direct by card. I need to confirm for delivery. Last time I went to Cardinal's ER for a fracture I didn't shell out any money at all.

sa company namin covered ang maternity so wala talagang babayaran, pero parang pag sa MMC, TMC at SLMC (QC) eh may additional fee (or ako na magsho-shoulder ng excess sa benefits package ng maxicare platinum) kasi mas mahal jan sa mga hospitals na yan.. yun ang pagkakaalam ko sa maternity.. pero sa ibang sakit, any time puwede magpa-consult sa accredited hospitals even sa MMC, TMC at SLMC (QC).. yung SL sa fort di pa ata puwede..

My current healthcard at work doesn't cover anything but there are company paid benefits like getting your usual salary even while on ML. That's a big plus na din na may income ka kahit nasa house ka lang kase usually pag naka-ML, SSS lang ang aasahan mong money.

dito naman sa company namin intellicare ang health card, free yung spouse and 1 child with dental coverage pa,. in terms of maternity, pre natal check ups lang ang free. as far as i know up to 150k ang covered ng card namin, and available to sa kahit saang hospital. pero mas prefer ko pa din ang maxicare  :)

Pls. check about this Rx E. R of medicard.  For only 1800 per 6 months for individuals at 3500 for group of 3.  No hierarchy.

I got na the healthcards of my daughter and hubby. So my daughter now has 2 healthcards, intellicare and medicard. Free naman so why not, pati si hubby kinuha ko kahit meron na din sya. What i dont like about our intellicare benefit lang is you need to get the approval slip from our clinic for scheduled check ups. Eh like nung I had a shoulder blade injury, I was on leave and I had to undergo 5 sessions of PT. They only approved 3 sessions at the hospital and they required that the 2 sessions be approved at our clinic. So nakakainis I had to drive all the way to the fort from antipolo just to get an approval. Hassle lang and that's not how it's supposed to be.

I just realized how important talaga na may healthcard. Since Zoe has two cards, I decided to leave 1 at home para pag may emergency and yung 1 nasaken naman. The other day, nakalingatan ng yaya si Zoe and sinubo nya yung silicon gel na nasa shoe  boxes (yung nasa parang pillow packs). Buti na lang my mom saw it and they washed Zoe's mouth kagad.

I instructed them na kung may mga ganong scenarios na mangyari (na I'm praying wala naman sana), they should take Zoe to the nearest emergency room and give the card. Ngayon mejo mas at ease na ko.

^i agree! I cannot really stress the importance of having a healthcard. When my brother had his own kid that's the first thing I told them to get. Hospitalization, kahit ER Lang yan, can really drain your savings. I had a colleague before, halos sabay kami nanganak. So when we were filing the papers with our HR I was surprised she wouldn't get a crd for her daughter. Namamahalan daw siya sa premium (6k payable in 1 year). Baka di daw magamit, masasayang Lang. It's not as if she can't afford it. Nagkukuripot Lang talaga. When our kids were around 1, sabay sila na nagkasakit. My daughter was confined while hers nagpabalik-balik Lang sa ER. I spend total Php 4k for our expenses in the hospital (food, etc). Siya ER alone went up as much as 30k (tests, stay in ER, etc). Sising sisi kasi nga the money she spent in 2 days could have covered her premium for 5 years.

^Mura yung 6k in 1 year ah.

Iba pati feeling pag may healthcard cus you feel more secure. I remember din si Zoe when she was an infant pa lang, we took her to the ER kase sobrang nahihirapan na mag-breathe because of her colds. Ni-nebulize lang sya for 30 min sa ER and P1,300 kagad bill sa min. Pati yung monthly consultation fees, kahit yun lang ang covered and hinde na yung vaccines, it's fine.

Let's pray na hinde talaga magamit ang healthcard, kase lahat naman tayo we dont want na magkasakit kids natin but it's a reality na we all get sick talaga so better na prepared lage.

^in my previous company, they cover a certain percentage of the premiums for the health card of the spouse + up to the 3rd kid. kaya nga nagtataka ako kaya ayaw niya kumuha. eh lumalabas php 500 per month lang. i guess iba iba lang talaga ang priority ng mga tao. pero tama ka, as much as possible ayaw mong ma-hospital ang anak mo. pero ayaw mo din na dumating sa point na if nandon ka na, eh mabibigla ka sa gastos.
