i have a friend who owns a travel agency. Shes planning to sell it na. The office is licated at the basement of robinsons galleria.

Did not work too well for them. Parang iniwan sila ng partner nila.

I usually do a review of financial statements of travel agencies wanting to do business with our company.  My observation is it's capital intensive.  Their receivables are in millions, usually in the 8-digit range.  Pag corporate accounts kasi, usually you just get a downpayt, tapos the balance is payable after the travel na.  So you really have to be prepared to pay your suppliers (airline, hotels, tour operators, etc) first before collecting from the company.  Very competitive din ang bidding for big accounts.  Kahit na current supplier ka ng company, when it comes to big conferences, costing millions, the company will open it up to bidding to ensure they get the best deal

can someone give me other travel networks that i can tie up with for domestic ticketing only? lahat kasi ng kilala kung may travel agency sa via sila nakatie up.. i want to venture this kind of business pero sa iba company ako makikipag tie up.. thanks.

you can already start your home based agency with 2k.  all you need to have are internet connection/computer and a phone.

I will open a Homebased Travel Agency

I've been speaking to some people and I've met a person who was willing to share her knowledge, system and travel packages for a certain amount....This person promised to assist me and help me all the way. She'll give me access to her established network such as her travel packages and all. So eventually she's offering me a "READY TO MANAGE" business....Kumbaga uupo nalang ako and eventually market myself.

BUT....Here comes the problem 

I have limited funds and after computing her fee and the other expenses....It looks like after paying her...Mukhang maliit nalang ang matitira sa akin  Although makakapagsimula na ako kaagad magnegosyo....Kumbaga this is my "EXPRESSWAY" entry to the market

Now I've talked with a friend and he told me naman that if I had some doubts and medyo limited ang budget ko, maybe it would be better to do everything myself? 

I mean attend a SEMINAR sa BUSINESS COACH or sa TLRC and eventually try to do everything myself. That way mas makakatipid daw ako and mas may leeway ako. Well of course malaki ang matitipid ko since I don't have to pay the person I met, I mean hindi ko na bibilhin yung "Formula" niya di ba? PERO....Ganun ganun lang ba yun? I mean madali lang ba makagawa ng mga travel packages and all?    So eto yung tinatawag ko na "SERVICE ROAD" approach ko 

Which should I take the "SERVICE ROAD" or the "EXPRESSWAY" approach? 

Pasesnya na sa terminologies ko ha, tiga south kasi ako LOL 

I just can't make up my mind kung ano ang mas favorable.....So sa mga magaganda at sexy na sis ko dito.....I need your opinion on this po!

dont they think mahal ang tickets sa via? kc they charge rw 67 pesos per ticket sa mga travel agencies, but other ticket suppliers only charge 30 pesos to their sub agents

Hi mga sis!  Kamusta Nakita ko sa thread that a lot are interested to join seminars on how to put up a travel agency.  Aside siguro from TRC seminar, I suggest also seminars na accredited ng DOT.  Kasi po in the future pag lumaki ang business nyo and you want to be DOT Accredited, requirement ng DOT, you must have attended at least 2 seminars that are accredited by them.  Meron silang accredited seminar this coming March 13-15, 2013 sa Canadian Tourism & Hospitality Institute located at Reliance Street in Mandaluyong City.  It's a Travel Management and Operations seminar.  Pwede pa yata magpa-register.   At least for this you get a certificate with a DOT logo pa.  I also attended TRC at first..ok naman pero experience is still the best teacher.  Some LGUs din pala like sa province namin, they require DOT accreditation muna before you can get Mayor's Permit, so DOT accreditation is also important.

Asking for DOT accreditation before issuing a Mayor's permit is kinda moronic if you ask me. Because you need "Mayor's Permit" to get a DOT accreditation. Hindi pwedeng mauna ang accreditation ng DOT kesa sa Mayor's Permit. Kasi except for DTI and BIR, lahat ng procedures to legitimize our business starts at a local level, Barangay muna, then saka Mayor's office.

Oo sis, that was my problem, pareho ayaw mag-issue ng permit and or accreditation kung wala yung isa.  I asked for clarification citing the rules ng DOT pero sabi ng LGU dapat sundin ko daw yung sa LGU.  I almost gave up kasi ang gulo nila until ayun napakiusapan ko naman ng maayos Patience is the key hehe

Hi mga sis, interested din ako dito although parang gusto ko lang mag-concentrate sa tour/land arrangements tsaka yung NSO, Visa and Passpost assistance kasi yun ang mukhang papatok sa area namin.

Nagbackread na po ako ang wala akong masyadong makitang info regarding this. Sa mga ka-tie up na travel agency lang ba pwedeng makuha 'to or you can do this on your own?

i just don't understand paano ka kikita dito? lets say for ticketing ilang percent and nakukuha na commi?
since dami na airline promo ngayon, madami parin ba kumukuha sa travel agency? ang alam ko sa mga packages sa hotel may certain commi pag sa kanila ka nagpa book
im not so sure lang regarding sa ticketing...

im really thinking about this business but i really need to research about this 1st...ayaw ko naman ng sabak lang ng sabak

hi ive been back reading from page 1 til here. i also want to start this business.. maybe ill start by attending a seminar.. but im still here abroad . ill be returning in ph this april. and i also want to start as homebased first.. i hope the sisses here could help me where to start and hopefully find a tie up with different travel agencies here. thanks .

hi..those who are asking about the profits of this business..here it is, since i got accredited as wholesaler sa zest air, we give service charge ng bet 100 to 200 per pax per way sa clients..we also have sub agents na travel agency na we charge 30-50 pesos..this is cheaper compared pag sa website k kkuha kc ang web admin fee is more than 100 pesos..same rin ang profit sa cebu pac and airphil...for tour packages, mas malaki ang profit ng local tours kesa sa international..local tour packages would give you 10-40 % mark up unlike sa intl like hk na 200-500 pesos lang income regardless of the amount so its more fun in the philippines talaga.
