How I started? - First homebased muna but since I got corporate accounts and some clients demands for real office so I decided to have office sa commercial area.

Hi mga sis.  I just want to share my experience/s in putting up a travel agency.  At first, I wanted to start at home lang however, gusto ko kasi maayos lahat so I first attended a travel agency seminar by TRC and then another seminar for tour packaging.  The seminars are ok pero if I were to start all over again, mas mabuti to attend a seminar on Travel Agency Management by the Department of Tourism or seminar conducted by a DOT accredited establishment.  Mahalaga yun kasi in my case, sa place namin, before you can get a Mayor's permit, dapat DOT accredited ka na.  For DOT accreditation, they require that you attend a seminar or two seminars being conducted by the Dept. of Tourism.  After the seminar/s, I went on to scout for an IATA Travel Agency for tie-up, meron naman akong nahanap.  Then after that, kumuha ako ng DTI then Mayor's permit kahit homebased ako just to make things all legal Super madugo pala yang mga business permits na yan, it took a lot of time and patience and of course minimal funds lang naman to register and all.  Pinangatawanan ko na magset up ng small office sa hirap ng dinaanan ko sa mga permits na yan hehe.  Then of course the BIR registration plus pagawa ng resibo sa printer.  Finally here I am, naka-set up na din.  THe things I've learned are: 1) For ticketing, you really can start na agad kahit wala kang IATA tie up per se kasi there are those legit companies that offer ticketing by just making a deposit as low as 2000 to use their system. Everytime you book, ibabawas sa deposit mo, pero mga sis, if you decide to do this, magdeposit din kayo ng medyo substantial kasi pag 2k lang, baka isang tao lang mabook nyo eh kung biglang 5 ang clients mo, hassle pa na pupunta kayo sa bank, etc habang naghihintay ang client mo. Ganun din pag IATA, pwede ka magdeposit ng bond sa kanila.  But if you have funds, be a ticketing agent for PAL, CEBPAC and ZESTAIR.  May bond din silang hinihingi. 2) For international tours, I guess this is where the IATA partner or tie-up that you have will matter.  You can tie up with as many, and look for the best deal for you.  They usually give you tariffs of tours and they indicate how much your commission is.  May mga big travel agencies who are non-IATA but offer good deals din pagdating sa Int'l tours. 3) Domestic Tours - for me, nagtyaga akong magemail ng mga hotels and resorts all over the Philippines to be accredited.  Basic requirement is to have your DTi and Mayor's Permit ready.  Sometimes they ask kung DOT accredited ka. Sa una you can just re-sell tours, or you can package your own.  But before ka magmarket, look at the online reviews ng hotels na imamarket mo kasi baka mamaya bad pala ang service nila or facilities.  In this business, super ang client's comfort talaga ang uunahin mo.  4) When in doubt or you have any questions, ask ask ask.  Mahirap ang nanghuhula lang.  Madami akong mga sisses dito na pinagtanungan at hiningan ng advice, and I'm thankful for that.  As of now, nagsisimula pa lang akong magkaroon ng mga bookings, and so far, nakikita ko yung potential ng business na to.  Pag may kids kayo, it is a challenge but it is work-able

Hi! How did you scour for corporate accounts? I intend to send proposals to companies e kaso I don't have much idea on the kalakaran with corporate offers ng mga travel agencies. I hope you can help me with this.



ALSO, if you guys can refer other IATA agencies I can tie up with. Please do so. I will be very very thankful.

Share ko lang sis at para na rin po sa lahat ng entrepreneurs wanna be, MAG INGAT PO  TAYO SA PAGBILI ng MGA SEMINARS MAGRESEARCH MUNA PO PARA ALAM MO HAHANAPIN MO CONTENT NG SEMINAR. In MY case kasi nagmadali ako bumili voucher sa ENSOGO worth 2500 daw po yun at naging 500 na lang umatend po ako kanina kahit pabagyo na at NAKAKA DISSAPOINT TALGA. As in marami pa ako natutunan sa pagback read dito kesa sa biyahe at oras ko kanina. Ang catch pa nito ituturo daw nila ang training and consultancy fee, suppliers and accreditation,in and out of the business at 8 days na scheduled training for 60 thousand. Napakamadugas, hay sayang ang byahe,pera at higit sa lahat oras. mabuti pa sa free seminar ng center for small entrepreneurs may natutunan ako sa Micro business law. How to start your own travel agency po tittle ng seminar. sige po susulat pa ko ng complain sa ENSOGO.

Ano name ng company na na attendan mo? Ako din naka attend na ako sa mga ganyan last month and yun nga 80k naman ang fee total with training, 75k discounted if mag DP ka ng 3k, pag uwi ko nag research ako. Madugas talaga yung mga ganyang style hehe.. yung isa ko kasama ayun sinabihan ko na wag muna basta basta sasabak pero ayun kumuha pa rin, now nag training na kuno

Yeah, I was replying to sis ailz hindi ko narin pala na expound yung mga sinabi ko sa post ko. I know very well that ENSOGO has nothing to do with it kasi I bought other good deals from ENSOGO that I'm happy about.
Anyway, i-pm ko nalang syo yung name ng company sis ayoko naman siraan sila. Siguro its their way of marketing their company & their knowledge.
I am really interested to put up this kind of business, i actually started already but I only have rates for Thailand. I read it in the previous post about the TRC seminars and I think I would want to attend one meron sila sched ngayon Nov, i"ll call them tomorrow to inquire...

I have no tour or travel packages to offer, but I am a business partner under Happi Outlet and one of the business dealing they have is with Abacus Flights Singapore so for us members who can pay 3k will are able to have our own direct flight bookings for both domestic and international travel.

What I personally like about it is I am a travel fanatic and I have friends, family members co workers that are avid travelers talaga, so it helps them that I manage their flight bookings; like isang text lang and some confirmation about their flight details and pasok na agad. and they have the option to do direct bank deposit or course the payment through me. Of course the downside here is that I can't compete with the "piso" fare or similar promos, but those promos are really not promos anyway, and are not worth the hassle and violence they bring! 

Sis how can I become a member too? Pleas tell me more about this

Hi.. Nagtry din ako magput up ng ganitong biz.. I thought this is for me na talaga being a SAHM, nakahanap na ako ng tieup agency and may mganpermit na. Sayang lang at di ko talaga natutukan. Narealize ko kasi, hindi talaga kikita kung homebased ka. First, halos lahat na ng domestic flights ay pumapayag na ihold/reserve ang mga booked flights so yung mga tao natututo na din gumamit ng system na nila na to. Secondly, di magtitiwala sayo yung mga clients kung wala kang visible office.. Mashaadong malaki ang perang ibabayad nila for tickets para ipagkatiwala sa nakilala lang nila online, kaya mostly mga relatives lang ang client ko. Unless super dami mong connections and relatives kikita ka talaga. Third, sa mga packages..naglipanang mga groupon sites at reputable travel agencies, mahirap madaming kakumpetensiya talaga.

Payo ko lang, magtayo ng office kung gusto mo talaga ng biz na ito, kahit maliit lang..ok na yun. Yung may pupuntahan yung mga tao. Maghanap ng mga connections and corporate accts. hth

hi sis, yung friend ng friend ko nagcoconduct ng seminar on how to put up a travel agency biz. Owner kase sha ng travel agency, kaya reliable. If I am not mistaken, name ng travel agency niya is jnjtravel services located sa laspinas. Sorry I dont have her number.

hi sisses.. ive been wanting to open a travel agency, I want it to be a big corporate set up, just like scorpio travel and reli tours. My hubby agreed to give me 3M i dont know if this is enough or too much for the kind of travel agency that i want. Problem is, i dont know where to start huhuhu.. My dream business is to have a big time travel agency, pwede pa ako mag pa dagdag ng capital pero clueless talaga ako. Where to i get qualified staff? How do we get coporate accounts? Did not work too well for them. Parang iniwan sila ng partner nila.
