Do you lend your books?

very seldom nalang ako magpahiram ng books ngayon. before kase nung nagpahiram ako, sinoli saken na parang lumang luma na tsaka may fold yung edge ng book, as if ginawang pangbookmark!

naasar na ako kasi hindi marunong magbalik yung mga nanghiram. Kulang kulang yung mga books ko, may list ako and recently ko lang napansin na marami pala nawawala.

YES. I love lending the books I loved reading. I just want to spread a "reading culture". Dito kasi sa Philippines wala masyadong facilities where people can borrow all sorts of books. Wala tayong mga public libraries kaya those that can't afford books don't read much. Minsan nga, I think twice before purchasing books coz' some of the good ones are really expensive, ranging from P300 and above for new ones. Basta I remind those that borrow my books to take care of them coz' ipapahiram ko pa ito sa iba. Medyo malaki na din ang book collection ko and my dream is to have my own library where people can borrow my books.

Hear! Hear! I agree sis, we have limited places where borrowing books is allowed, save for school and public libraries, and the selection in many of those places aren't as extensive or interesting. Aside from that, books here can be very expensive, like you mentioned, which makes them somewhat like "luxury goods", not easily affordable.

But I love lending my books especially to friends who I know enjoy reading and discussing as much as I do. I don't really care if I get the book back or not. As long as they've read it or better yet, passed it on for someone else to read.

I'm actually selling some of my books here on GTalk...I only keep my favorites and those which I know I will read again. The rest, I'm letting go. It's better for my books to be discovered and enjoyed by others than gather dust in my bookshelf.

Mahilig akong magpahiram ng libro sa mga kaibigan ko. Lahat nga ng teammates ko may nahiram na libro sa kin. Kapalit lang dapat lagay ng plastic cover pagbalik.

Ay, madamot ako eh when it comes to my books. I experience separation anxiety when my books are "out". Seriously. I spent a lot of time and money collecting the books that I have. I take good care of them and I like seeing them on my shelf. Nakakaasar when people don't give back my books.

I wish we also have a good library here in the Philippines. When I went to the US my sister took me to the public library in their county and I was floored! Books everywhere! Books from authors that I've always wanted to read - James Patterson, Sidney Sheldon, etc. I was soo happy!

There used to be 2 book lending shops here in BF Homes, many years ago. Unfortunately, they closed. (tear) Does anyone know of any other book lending shops in Paranaque?

Yes. Pero i get paranoid sometimes. 

I had this friend who borrowed one of my magazines (I collect Seventeen Mags) then I told her I had to get it na kasi it was so long na it was with her. Tapos sabi niya wala daw sa kanya. I was really sure it was with her. Till then I never told her i bought that magazine every month kasi takot ako she'll borrow again and not return it.

before, yes pero na-trauma na ako so now i'd really rather not. i also don't borrow so quits lang di ba. hehe. bakit ba kasi hinihiram pa. di na lang pumunta ng library kung walang pambili.

I really don't like lending my books.  I used to lend my books to my friends who I know are really interested but when they return it to me, puro linya na yung spine sa sobrang pagbukas ng book.  I hate it pa naman pag may marks sa spine.  Feel ko nalaspag na sya.  When I read my books as in super ingat ko.  I don't care kung mahirapan ako magbasa as long as hindi magkakamark yung spine.

Tuloy when people try to borrow books from me, hindi na lang ako umiimik.

yes i lend my books to my friends and relatives, lalo na ag gandang ganda ako sa story at i want them to read it too. nabiktima na din ako ng mga hindi nag soli, pero kadalasan naman naisosoli.

I used to lend books to friends.  But since one of my favorite books wasn't returned to me, ayoko na muna magpahiram ulit.  Lalo na if the book was a gift from someone, baka iyakan ko pag hindi naisoli eh.

Yup, I even give them away. Kase I've read somewhere na kapag lagi lang nasa shelf yung libro it means na hindi na yun para sa yo, it's purpose is to be read and therefore must make it's journey for others to read it, something to that effect hehe. Pero ang hirap magpahiram ha, lalo na magpamigay kase kahit palitan mo pa ng same book may sentimental value na yung binasa mo eh! But ironically, lahat ng pinamigay ko di ko na hinanap, kase di ko naman sila gusto ay pero meron palang isa na pinagsisihan ko bakit ko sya pinamigay kase nung tinanong ko yung pinagbigyan ko kung nabasa na nya hindi daw yun pang kaisa-isang yun eh one of my favorites pa, yung Failing Forward by John Maxwell. Kala ko pa naman makaktulong sa kanya yung libro eh di wala rin, sana di ko na binigay sa kanya yung akin or dapat binilhan ko na lang sya ng brand new! Pag nakikita ko sa bookstore parang gusto ko bumili kaso iba pa rin yung una so tinanggap ko na lang na irreplaceable sya

sobrang bihira lang. i get stressed kapag nagpapahiram ako ng books. baka kasi hindi na mabalik. especially yung mga fave books ko na inuulit ulit ko ng pagbasa. books are the only things na pinagdadamot ko.

I try not to be selfish, but I'm oc about my books. I never want their covers or pages to be folded or wrinkled, and I also don't want any stains on them. So when people borrow my books, they come with a long list of do's and don'ts.
