Dextroscoliosis (scoliosis)

When i graduated from college i was diagnosed to have mild thoracic dextroscoliosis.. Cured lang sya via exercises.. Normal na ulit ang xrays ko..

^Sa akin naman sis slight dextroscoliosis of thoracic spine since high school. Bakit di sya nawawala even now that I am working na. Anong exercise ba dapat? I mean wala naman pain or such kaya lang conscious ako sa xray results.

kung functional scoliosis (muscle imbalance, poor posture, etc) nacocorrect pa ng exercise.

kung structural scoliosis (yung spine ang may problema/deformity or may kakaiba ka pang sakit na tinamaan ang spine), di na macocorrect ng exercise..maintenance nalang to avoid further rotation and progression.

mas okay magcorrect ng scoliosis using brace habang adolescent period kasi wala pang bone maturation.

eto minsan ang management:
<20 degrees - exercise
20-40 degrees -  brace, exercise
>40 degrees - surgery

^^sis alam ko a person with scoliosis is not recommended to have 'hilot' better go to a doctor, rehab doctors will tell which type of therapy will be most helpful for your case.

Ako din may mild scolio which i learned last year lang. nag ok na ako pero since last week,
sumasakit na naman yung upper side ng likod ko. parang need ko na naman bumalik ng doctor.

i was diagnose with scolio nung 14 ako, now im 21. i had two braces before but sinayang ko lang coz di ko sya kinayang isuot 23hours a day. i consulted several ortho na pero they had diferent advices e which confused me lang. nung high school ako, one would say mag brace kasi macocorrect, the other naman would say magbrace para hindi na magprogress yung curve pero hindi na macocorrect. One would say naman surgery daw agad para di na lumala coz sa case ko mabilis magprogress yung curve. the other one suggested na wag na magbrace or surgery, PT na lang and xray every year para mabantayan yung curve. nakakalito sila considering directors pa sila ng dept sa sa st.lukes, ust and veterans.  i ended  up with PT. pero nung college ako natigil coz busy masyado, so ayun from 30degrees naging 40 plus severe back pain. i consulted an ortho again sa st.lukez, accdg to himnagstop na sa 40degrees yung curve ko.since 21 na ko hanggang dun na lang yun since 21 na ko adult na.so pain na ang problem ko. then i seek a chiropractor, nag improve na, less pain.  Im considering undergoing surgery coz ayoko ng posture ko, paling  pero it seems impossible as of now considering my busy schedule and other health issues. ang hirap ng may scolio

Mga sis, how much kaya magpa-xray? Gusto ko malaman kung problem yung likod ko kasi hindi ko kaya istraight ang body ko ng matagal sanay kasi akong naka-kuba lalo na pag nag cocomputer. Hindi kasi ako mahilig magpacheck-up.

^Less than 1k siguro, i do also have scoliosis and may health card insurance kasi ako before sa company namin..then per session ng therapy nasa 300-700. Kasi tinatanong ko mga staff minsan sa mga price ng bawat procedure. You need a physical therapist para maayos yan scolio mo.Pero pakita mo muna sa Physiatrist yun result ng xray mo, for her to give you a program. Ako kinarir ko pag pa therapy kasi masakit likod ko...naka tulong ng malaki pag pa rehab med ko sa scolio ko. May scolio na ako, osteopenic pa and may coccygodynia pa. Lahat na yata ng sakit sa buto sa likod ko nakuha ko na. Maybe dahil sa posture ko...kasi matangkad ako and mahilig mabuhat ng makakapal na mabigat na books ko nun student pa ako, then for 15yrs palagi ako nasa field nag drive ng malalayo. Everytime sumasakit sumusumpong scolio ko punta na ako agad sa rehab med para pa therapy. 3 sessions palang ok na ako ulet. I avoid taking nsaid meds. I hope it helps.

mga sis, meron ba dito nurse na may scoliosis? or baka may kakilala kayo.. kasi medyo napapaisip ako e, sa medical pa nga lang kasi baka hindi ako makapasa since may scolio ako e.. nagpa medical kasi ako last year tapos nirefer pa ako sa ortho.. dami pa tinanonh sa akin kung kaya ko daw ba talaga dahil mabigat na trabaho nga ang pagiging nurse

@sis devilish sis ang nurse kasi laging nakatayo, so kung meron ka na scolio, possible na lalong mag worse ang condition mo..

tlaga sis ok lang yun? kasi ako na diagnosed na may scolio Nov last year. 6 sessions lang ako ng PT then ortho advised na stop muna kahit sobrang masakit pa din likod ko. Ngayon d na ulit ako bumalik sa ortho kahit sumasakit pa din sa matagal na pag upo o sa paglalakad lang na may dalang di naman kabigatan.by the way 15% pa lang ako.

^yup, that's me! I don't feel anymore pain. Those 3 days after the operation, yes, painful but nothing the anesthesia can't handle. After that, muscle pain na lang so mga 2 weeks na lang ako nag pain reliever. I met another patient of Dr Dizon who also went through an operation last year. And now, she seems to be having the time of her life!

^^^^yup sis ok naman sa physiatrist ko na pa rehab therapy ako once sumakit na di ko matiis. Pero di naman na ako madalas sumpungin ng sakit ng scollio.

^^sis you're so lucky that you're operation was a succesful one, i also admire your courage when you decided na magpa-opera, meron din ako dextroscoliosis but mine was just mild, around 13 degrees but i have other spine problem aside from scolio...

tamad kasi ako mag exercise, kaya di ko alam kung talagang nakakawala o nakakabawas nga ng sakit yun. It would be better pala to visit again my ortho kasi nakatulong din naman kahit papano ang therapy.
