hi sisses! i have a question, usually how long does the h1b visa interview take dito sa US embassy? matagal ba? anong usual questions? may mga na-dedeny ba? and anong itsura ng h1b visa? is it like a b1/b2 visa?

sis, just like what sis gnela_21 and sis inggay said, if you are well prepared and confident, there will be no problems. My family and I had our H1B and H4 interviews together, it only took us 3 minutes. The usual questions are: Where are you working, what will be the nature of your work, have you been in the US before, how long have you been married (if married), how old are you (directed to my son)...so basically, the questions are very simple but they want straight answers...if answerable by YES or NO, they would want very short answers. Just make sure you have all supporting papers from your employer and if you're married have an NSO certified marriage certificate with you.

^I'm not sure about the others but my 10 year B1/B2 visa was not revoked after my H1b visa was approved.

Hi sis, just like what sis gnela_21 said, the H1B visa looks just like the B1/B2 visa, it just lists your visa type as H1B and you will also have your employer's name on the visa. I am not sure about the revoking though, my son changed passports that is why I am not sure if his former B1/B2 visa was revoked in lieu of the H4.

B1/B2 serves a different purpose so it will not be revoked nor cancelled.  I had both my valid B and H visas on my passport when I left the Philippines.

Well, same time frame din sya ng pagkuha ng B1/B2 visa kasi same procedure, yung interview itself lang ang may difference kasi yung work info ang i-ask sayo. Usual questions i think are about the your work, your employer, kung san place ka magwork. Pwede din nila ask yung background mo. I know some PT were asked PT questions din. Be prepared lang. I think may mga nadedeny din, pero bihira ako makarinig nun, more of an RFE lalo na kung kulang ang info. Be aware lang of the Neufeld Memo, baka din tanungin ka. Ang itsura nya, same lang ng B1/B2 visa, except na H1B yung nakalagay na type tapos may name ng employer sa baba ng visa. Hope this helps!

sis gnela_21, di ko kagad 'to nabasa! sobrang thanks sa information! i tried researching yung Neufeld Memo, it targets pala those who are contractors and who are working at a client site in the US. Kasi hindi ako masyado pa aware sa H1B process, I know yung employer naman mostly talaga ang naglalakad ng lahat. Yung request for evidence pwede din yun during the interview?

Hi gt sis, i'ts my 1st time to post for a thread like this. didn't even think before na mapapadpad ako sa thread na ganito. my hubby just left for a work there in US under H1B. we didn't apply for H4 yet coz i don't think makakasunod kami this early. we wanted to test the water pa. just have some questions, we have plan of visiting there maybe sa december, ano ba dapat ang visa na iaapply, tourist visa ba? or can we apply for h4 pero visit lang talaga dun? hope someone can enlighten me, mejo wala ako masyado alam sa ganito. i actually just learned other info i know from this thread. all those posted by our fellow sisses is really of great help. ^ if you're eligible for an h4 then apply for that vs. tourist which has greater chances of a denial. My daughter and I interviewed at the embassy together, I have the h1b she has an h4.  She's still in manila but will be joining me in June.  With an h4 you can enter and exit multiple times as far as I recall.. haven't looked into that in a while though.

^ i agree with xthine, apply for the H4. You're more likely to get the visa since H1B naman yung husband mo. H4 is usually multiple entry, same validity of your husband's H1B. Usually kasi 3 years ang H1b, so H4 mo is 3 years din. Goodluck!

^thanks sis gnela_21 . It's really hard pala being an OFW.si hubby sobrang homesick, minsan gusto na umuwi. He have relatives there pero sa ibang state naman. parang mahirap din kung susunod kami sa kanya kase palipat lipat din sya ng states, parang hassle naman lalo na we have kids, 1 is school age. hayy dunno what to do, we wanted to be with him but i don't want to add stress to his now stressful life.

Mahirap talaga maging OFW sis. Iba ng buhay dito, puro work work work. Travelling pala ang husband mo, medyo mahirap nga for your family to follow kung ganun na palipat-lipat sya ng state. Travelling PT ba sya?  Hopefully he'll be able to find a different employer na hindi travelling yung work nya para makasunod kayo.

^sis hindi naman sya travelling pt. engineer sya kaya lang project based kase, so after ng project sa isang state lipat ng ibang state naman. ayaw na nga parang suko na, hehe. workaholic naman yung hubby ko nung nandito sa pinas, ewan ko bakit parang ngayon susuko na. it must be really hard!

Ahhh ok sis. Wala kasi akong friend dito na engineer kaya wala ko idea na may mga ganun pala na project based. Mahirap dito sis lalo na kung mag-isa sya, although sabi  mo nga may relatives naman sya pero iba pa din kung yung sariling family andito. Goodluck sis, kaya yan All for a better future.

Question for those who have dependents on an H4 visa, if they are school aged and go to a public school do we need to pay a tuition fee? 

Also, if I adjust my status from H1b to LPR and I have a dependent,  do I need to apply for an adjustment of status for her too (file her separate i485)?
