Last lauriat wedding i went to, nasa invite 6:30pm pinakain kami 8:45pm. Honestly not a good way to treat your guests. Dami nang nasabi lahat kahit high end pa coordinator. Saka dami tuloy nag eat and run lang kasi 8:30 na nagstart program and may pasok pa next day.

Kaya ginawa nila kumain muna sila somewhere in Makati after the wedding mass. :|

Hehe so hopeless talaga magstart on time yun reception, 'no? Or even 30mins late lang. Do you plan on having pre-reception cocktails?

^My gap between ceremony and reception will just be 1.5 hours upon their arrival sa reception venue---and ill still be serving cocktails, snack bar, coffee, juices, etc. I have no plans to make the guests hate my wedding hehe

Hubby is Malaysian Chinese but we decided to have a Filipino-ish + Western Style wedding. He said he wanted to wear Barong Tagalog haha.

^that'a cute! Told my H2B nga he'll cut costs if Barong for our "Filipino-Chinese" motif.

Sparklingjewel, how heavy will your snacks be? You're having a sit down dinner diba? Kasi lauriats are usually served late kasi nag aantay ng tao para mapuno tables. So we're thinking of serving heavy snacks coz medyo malaki gap ng church ceremony & reception add to that medyo magkalayo sila haha

PS. Meron ba kayo kilala Feng Shui Master who I could just call up & speaks Tagalog? We're too busy to go visit a temple this month but we hafta book na coz I requested for a July 2016 wedding. Panic mode.

^corpse_bride We're expecting it will take them nearly an hour to travel to the reception venue from the church (total gap from end sa church and start of reception is 2.5 hours--- and 3.5 hours til dinner is served) so we might give out light snacks and water outside the church. We'd rather not worry that they are full, more people will be irate if gutom.

For cocktails naman, my caterer has hors d'oeuvres (3 kinds) pero we'll be adding some savoury pies, crostinis with dips and some pica pica like nuts at a food table we'll set up. For the drinks naman it's a choice between brewed coffee or frappuccinos or 2 kinds of juices; coffee/ juice bar setup sya in the garden. We'll serve dinner an hour after the program starts. Sitdown ako pero hindi lauriat so no need to wait for latecomers, hehe bahala na sila.

^ yun nga eh. Lauriat kasi kami kaya we feel the need to fill up the guests after the ceremony. Magaya nga yan water & snacks after the church ceremony. Like a sandwich or pastry para sa car palang nag ssnack na sila. Gap between end of ceremony & reception as will be printed (on the invite) will be 3 and a half hours pala. Ok lang sana if short time gap lang between end of the ceremony & start of the reception & you'll be serving the food right away. Kaso laki na nga gap namin then guests would come in late pa. Yikes.

^That's true sis, I've attended some grand weddings as in double digit into the millions tapos wala manlang cocktails or kung meron nuts and chips lang. Couldn't a small portion of the budget have gone to cocktail food? :( For me lang, it is your day pero don't forget about the guests since they made an effort to be there. If they are hungry, they will be cranky, and if they are cranky they won't be into the program as much and might even lose interest and leave early.

According to my friend naman, sanayan lang talaga we have to respect din yun nakasanayan ng chinese people. For them kasi wala naman talagang cocktail food, pero sa kanila naman hindi sila sanay sa buffet food or mga sitdown meals mapa ano pa yan steak or seabass hindi yan bongga sa kanila, they really prefer lauriat pero since wedding ito ng ibang tao wala din naman silang choice but to accept kng ano yun nakahanda. Tsaka chinese people may sarili ding ugali may kilala ako hindi talaga sila kakain ng anything heavy before dinner kahit maliliit na sandwich as to not spoil their appetite for dinner. And kahit saang chinese restaurant ka naman magpunta usually nuts lang talaga ang sineserve sa kanila as appetizers. Kaya intindihin nalang din natin and maghanda handa tayo if mainvite sa ganitong mga pangyayari hahaha

^ well, yeah yung Chinese guests of course alam na nila yan. But like last week, I attended a (Chinese) friend's wedding with our Filipino friends. The usual early ceremony- 7pm reception (daw). My friend & I ate at the hotel when we got there after the ceremony. Our other friends were told may cocktails daw ng 530. So they waited, then nuts & chips lang pala. When we sat on our table before 7pm, gutom na sila. Di naman whinning but was saying politely na ganun daw pala if Chinese wedding. Coz dinner was served mga 9pm na. H2B & I kasi will have lots of Filipino guests. So parang nakakahiya to leave them waiting since hindi naman lahat alam na ganun ang nangyayari pag-Chinese weddings.

late reception time is common for chinese weddings. kahit anong oras pa ang ceremony matapos, the reception will start at 730 (earliest)-830pm. it's called broken time. some of the guests go back to their houses first or go to the mall or somewhere else. depending on the family tradition, there may be a tea ceremony in between the wedding ceremony and reception.

^uh oh. Mind sharing what happened? Para lang warning sa others when and if a supplier is out of bounds na.

Anyways, how's everyone's wedding preps going? Hope hindi kayo panic mode like I am hehe

I have a question for everyone. Ganun ba ka-accepted for Chinese weddings especially if Lauriat/ pan to if superrr late mag start yung reception? I can't remember attending a Chinese wedding (although few lang non-Chinese) na hindi late. As in 1 to 1 1/2 hr wait from what's written on the invite. Is it because only half or less lang nagpupunta ng ceremony? Meron ba kayong plan for this not to happen on your day?

^^ yups. Tayo sanay na. Just realized na parang nakakahiya to non-Chinese guests. Though bihira nga yung may cocktails in between. Baka gayahin nalang namin si sis Sparklingjewel may snack & water for the car ride hehe since I'm more hiya to those who'll go to the ceremony. Though we had a cute idea for cocktails hAha

^Mixed guests din ako pero mostly pinoys. Magpabaon ako light snack and water for the car on the way to reception kasi baka more or less 1 hour tapos cocktail feast at the reception itself para sure haha. That way i can have flexibility in my program kahit ma-late start pa. What's your cute idea sis? :)

Emdchua, we didn't have our reception at Century Park, but would just like to share my two cents. Maybe you can do your research then show your dad and h2b other alternatives. Try to give them the pros and cons of Century Park and other possible venues. Who knows, they might listen and explore your recommendations :) If you are unable to convince them, then maybe you can find other stylists who can work on your budget. There are several other good but more affordable options out there. Just back read on the stylists thread here to give you an idea :)

Hahaha I am! Oh well papel. It's sort of a sad fact. But you can't deny Century (Seafood) talaga best in lauriat. As for us, we also can't go for high end event stylists so todo research ako ng mid ones. Daming names & companies nasa florists thread. As for finding the right angle, diba tao naman ang subject ng pictures niyo & the place just a background? Ask nalang your photog to focus on you instead of the aesthetics. Kinakabahan din ako ng bonggang bongga! Naghanap nalang ako ng motif that would enhance the place coz it's ok naman. Not that bad compared to the resto. Good luck to us!

My friend had their reception in the ballroom.. ok naman itsura sa pics it looks like the usual hotel ballroom, and much better than the resto. She had Gideon Hermosa as stylist and dun ko nakita na meron pala siyang super basic look, so i think their budget was the minimum of Gideon.. and it wasnt worth it! It wasnt panget ha pero it wasnt his usual bongga. Kayang kaya ng mas murang stylist yun. Go for a midrange nalang and add kesa pilitin mag Gideon tapos basic package kasi super konti lang. :)
