^^sis chinita168 there's a shop in ongpin that provides everything you will need sa tinghun. Shop's name is KANCHIU if memory serves me right sa benavidez siya located. :)

@sis littleprincess it is the bride who will furnish the house. Like ga timba, plates, forks, etc. sabi kasi groom provides the house itself then tayo maglalagay ng laman. Lol :D

^^ How long did you guys prepare for your tinghun?

I'll go there after holy week. :)

Do I have time pa ba? Engagement is on June 3.

are you giving shoes to your MIL?

Also, i am confused, who furnishes the house?

Am I supposed to give it to her? Didn't really thought about it. Will ask my mom nga. haha!

Usually, the girl's family will furnish the place. They'll provide the appliances like airconditioning, electric fans, gas stove, refrigerator and the likes. For other furniture, share na yun. But it really depends on the couple. :)

^wow lucky you get to have your own place :) hmm... if not too traditional naman sis siguro anyone pwede naman? maybe you can meet halfway since your house would be coming from your side, si fiance naman maglagay ng laman sa loob. lol :D where will you be staying after wedding btw? PH parin or planning to move overseas with fiance?

regarding sa coin i think no na. kasi his cousin never did it so i guess hindi naman sila ganun ka particular with that. :)

how about the hair combing and the pamaypay thing? will you still do it?

we're staying here temporarily, in a condo in pinaglabanan pero we will be in and out of PH din kasi before we move abroad. ikaw, don't stay na in binondo! hahaha :)

i spoke to fiance and sabi niya ok lang for him to furnish the house since my parents got us a unit and parking lot. i think furnishing a place won't be so expensive naman?

^believe me sis i'll get out of binondo the first possible chance i'll get :D ever since i graduated from college hindi ko na ulit nakita binondo, recently nalang ulit when i started working kay fiance. and naiingayan nga ako. haha pero ewan ko sila inlaws ko comfortable with their surroundings eh so for now oo nalang muna :D and i envy you! travel kung travel! :)

err wala narin siguro yung mga pamaypay. never saw his cousin did any rituals nung kinasal. more on yung rituals sa bahay yung ginawa nila. like red cloth sa mirror etc. and for furnishing yeah not too expensive naman mga timba and the likes lang naman siya :)

Your fiance can furnish the place, then you accessorize (plates, decorations, vases, utensils). Buy after the wedding coz for sure pang new house gift ng guests nyo sa wedding. If you don't plan to stay long naman, settle with something comfortable lang kesa masayang pag alis mo.

even the wrapping and putting and storage boxes? nakaka excite! but I want it to be perfect sana coz this will reflect on me with my future in laws. :)

Parang I saw my sister pa 2010 with the paypay and comb ritual. I don't know the prcedure but I saw comb kasi sa pics e. :p

^they will provide nung paperbags pati yung ilalagay sa loob, but kayo na mag lalagay sa paperbags. usually in boxes lahat yun. yung sinna it's available din for rent sa kanila. much better if relatives can help you out during the tinghun day. syempre busy kayo and parents with the rituals so mas ok if some relatives or friends are available to help you setup para less stress for you :)

nagenina, haha there are pros and cons in my situation.. like my fiance will be at work and not with me half the time so we need the time together talaga. we looked at an old condo in gh na binondo style, may gate pa before the door. turn off ako kaagad! haha

are you guys planning to do the comb and paypay thing?

chinita168, yeah fiance told me he will pay daw for the furnishings aside from the small things that my mom will give us. will pay for the reservation fee of the condo this week, grabe we looked at 6 places and the feng shui only approved of this!

and better if your relatives help you but choose din who.. alam ninyo naman, may mga relatives na ma-inggit and madaming sinasabi. the stuff that you "pai" mga inuusisa na sobra.

It's nice to know one stop shop na for tinghun. I have no idea how things work either. Like how many sets of jewelries should my fiancées mom prepare, what should we prepare? Do we go celebrate in a hotel nlng b or at home? Dad renovated our house kasi so parang he wants to show it off haha

Little princess
Where is your fiancé working again? Luckily we work here in PH, both of us have businesses naman. My future father in law got us a townhouse na so ako na [textspeak!] dapat sa furnitures.

^ if you can ge a hold of the my little kanchiu book, it would be very helpful. as for the jewelry sets, it would depend on the mother in law :) but usually it is either 2, 4 or 6 depending on the financial capability. where to celebrate would also depend on what was agreed upon. mostly now, sa hotel na. you can do the ceremony at home then the eating in a hotel.

my fiance is not chinese kasi, he's brit and currently working offshore in brazil. he works 4-5 weeks then gets 4-5weeks break.

^ pwede naman but a lot don't na. like me, i won't have ting hun na but my mom will give me pa din the things that are usually given to a daughter (plus more!) and may gift din sila sa fiance ko.

it depends on the family na non-chinese, if they are willing to do the customs and practices and financially shoulder it together with the gifts and the jewelry.

^^sis cinnamoroll i noticed yung mga nag titinghun nalang ngayon eh yung mga talagang traditional chinese nalang eh. parang for them it's a must parin. pero yung mga modern na, they dont seem to care if mag tinghun pa or not anymore.

Re. naman sa tinghun venue, depends sa preference ng both parties. mine was held in a restaurant, yung ibang relatives ni fiance did it sa china pa. umuwi pa talaga. then one relative naman na super simple lang, they did it sa house lang. my dad preferred to have the ceremony at home lang but my inlaws wanted to splurge since first born si fiance kaya father in law said he's willing to spend alot for him. err i don't know if it's a good thing though lol :D

I'll definitely look for the tinghun booklet. We don't have a schedule yet for the tinghun or the wedding, I'm in a topak mode so let's see. My fiancé is the first born son and Chinese talaga sila so I think they would want to do tinghun.

Hi sis nicoletta

If the guy family is willing to give you a tinghun and your family has no reservations about it.. I think it is wise to accept it.

According to my family, they only convince me na its better to have a tinghun because it shows that the family of the guy thinks highly of you... imagine all the preparations and the gastos that is involved in the tinghun on the fiance side...

If he is the firstborn and hindi ka pumayag sa tinghun, tapos yung 2nd son (kung meron) nag asawa in the future with tinghun ...baka mag sisi ka na sana pumayag ka rin sa tinghun... :D

Bottomline is.. you have more to gain than loose if you agree to have tinghun.

nageinna and little_princess - Will start buying things for my ting hun na after holy week. So exciting!!! :)

as for the jewelry sets, it would depend on the mother in law :) but usually it is either 2, 4 or 6 depending on the financial capability.
Try to avoid 4 coz that means dead daw.

Pwede bang magTing Hun kahit hindi Chinese yung fiance mo?
yep, its a different experience. I think it will be fun naman din preparing it. Getting married and commitment will start to sink in. :)

I'll definitely look for the tinghun booklet.
I bought mine online! :)

Went to new victory the other day. They charged me P4,200 to arrange stuff that I need (e.g. satin set, tea set, bowl set). For my fiance, around P15k. :)
