i attended two weddings and an event (which makes it a total of 3) this july and all were hosted by eva poon. i agree that she's good. i like her singing pag english. pag chinese songs, hindi na masyado. i find some of her pronunciations a little off. hehe. okay rin sya mag-host, nakakatuwa. nagulat lang ako to see na may mga comments na masama ang ugali nya behind the scenes? like ano ginagawa nya specifically? parang hindi ko ma-imagine since she looks nice and sincere each time she hosts an event.

you know, i totally agree.

though she's a family friend since way way back high school days... when richard is not yet famous.... i just got lucky kasi i booked her a year and a half before our wedding, no dp made yet,  then a year before the wedding, im going to make dp na and asking for contract, booked na daw siya... so im sad... dont know sino next kukunin ko, kasi mind set ko siya na...

then as i meet with other suppliers. all they say was buti nalang hindi natuloy kundi magback out na sila sakin... then they told me their stories...

My Event stylist's first question to me nga was - Sino ang host and sound system mo? Kasi pag sa EMP daw, e ayaw na nya.. LOL!
Dunno na the whole story.. Basta for me, the best si Max Tiu! ang bait, bilis kausap! and willing to adjust sa preferences namin. I have all praises for Max!

hi mga sis,
When we got married last year i got max tiu as our host. Ok siya very accommodating at friendly. He won't keep you hanging, nagsusuggest siya ng mga bagay para pasayahin yung wedding.
When my cousin got married naman she got eva poon. Medyo di namin siya nagustohan kasi nga mdeyo off ang pronunciation  niya at may punto siya. I could hear the "oldies" saying ano daw? tska hindi rin siya kumanta kasi daw masama voice niya.
so if your goin to get a hot for your wedding try max tiu na lang last rate niya for us is 18k all in

Why do chinese weddings  have a chinese hosts who speaks in mandarin while most of the audience do not understand mandarin because they usually speak fookien... Any explanations on this? or it just has been the tradition?

maybe because it's more formal? parang yung host, he/she uses english right, but there's a chance that majority of the guests understands filipino better.

tama ka  sis!     most of the weddings i've been to have the same old type of Chinese hosts. Chinese couple rarely experiment  with more qualified non-Chinese hosts. Its a sad fact but true....

Oo nga. Mandarin nga yung main na gamit nila. When we were still planning our wedding, my in-laws insisted talaga on getting a Chinese host kaya we hired one. My mother-in-law wanted pa talaga someone who sings Chinese songs hahaha. So yun, we got Jerome Go, who I really really like compared to other hosts.
