TICKS! Please Help

Hi sis.

Wala po bang homemade remedies para sa garapata? Ang daming garapata ng aso ko at ang lalaki pa, nakakatakot.

Yung dad ko gusto nya naka anti tick and flea collar yung aso namin. Ayaw ko gamitin kasi baka mainom ni baba yung gamot.
Habit kasi ni baba na iloblob sa inuman nya yung ulo nya since nung puppy pa sya. Labrador kasi yun, mahilig maglaro ng tubig.
Natatakot ako baka masama para sa kanya yun. So far since nag herbal soap na ako,
 wala na akong nakikitang tick. Sana wala na talaga sila.

j.adore, nakikita mo ba yung powder sa katawan nya? or naabsorb sya ng skin?

lovelyey, try apple cider vinegar, dilute with equal parts of water then spray mo sa katawan nya. okay din ang food grade diatomaceous earth kaso medyo mahirap maghanap, natural pesticide ito, may mga sellers sa sulit.com. pero kung grabe na talaga kailangan na sigurong gumamit ng frontline tapos pag control shift kayo sa natural remedies.

coldsiren, mas okay ang frontline spot on kasi di sya basta basta maiingest. Yung shih tzu ko indoor sya, kahit ginamitan ko ng herbal soaps at spot on treatment may nakukuha pa rin ako, samantalang yung bulldog na nasa cage at gumagala-gala, walang treatment at minsan lang maligo, once in a blue moon kung makitaan ng fleas, weird itong mga alaga ko hehe

Sis abu, nakahanap na pala ako ng ACV na Bragg sa healthy options. ang funny pa kasi nung binigay ko sa mom ko, may ganun na daw kami sa bahay (kakauwi lang kasi ng dad ko from abroad, inuwi na nya lahat ng gamit) pero binili pa rin namin. tapos ayun, same nga.

maghahanap pa ako ngayon ng uses of ACV sa dogs (and humans! mukhang okay to eh). for now, naglalagay ako ng about 10ml sa water bowl nila. mukhang kulang pa rin, increase ko na lang gradually.

nakakatawa kasi interesadong interesado sila sa dropper, tapos nung natikman, panay shake ng ulo! hahahaha. pero hala, sige pa rin sa amoy! yung tzu ko naman, dinilaan din yung dropper, sabay takbo palayo sakin! lokoloko talaga yun

ttry ko yung spray sa katawan, di ko naisip yun ah. mabantot ba sila pag sprinayan? sayang kasi kung bagong paligo sila, lol!

^^sige sis check ko ang ingredients and reviews, recently kasi mayroong studies na nagsabi ng ill effects ng mga spot on and flea collar. As much as possible, gusto ko natural remedies ang ibigay pero pag grabe na ang infestation di talaga maiwasan gumamit ng commercial products

^nung nagkamange dog ko, vet ang nagaadminister ng ivomec thru injections. may nabasa ko dati na may ibang nagbebenta, yung iba nga daw oral binibigay pero di ko na pinansin, masyado na kasi itong technical lol! san nyo gagamitin sa mange din ba?

sis abu, i've tried buying Diatomaceous Earth from sulit, but i've never actually tried using it na donate ko lang to an animal welfare volunteer at a dog pound, kasi they were in dire need of an affordable and safe remedy against tick and fleas. i was thinking of buying some for my dogs and also for my sister's garden but i guess i just forgot, hehe.
if you do plan on buying, make sure to buy the food grade kind from a reputable seller, may iba kasi dun hindi pala food grade but they just label it as such.   i'll try looking for the seller i brought if from, and post ko here if makita ko   super nice kasi cya, he answered all my questions, and he also shared his personal experience with using D.E. on his dogs.

has anyone here tried using D.E. as a tick repellant?  if so, please share your experience mga sis hesistant kasi ako since its in powder form, baka irritant sa lungs.

^kahit noon isa lang din yung nakikita kong seller ng food grade DE, siguro sya rin yung namention namin sa DE thread. tapos dumami sila pero obvious naman sa price na food grade yung sa iba hehe. hindi ata nila alam difference ng food grade sa feed grade eh.

Natry ko yan before pero since hindi lapitin ng fleas yung alaga ko, sa mosquitoes yung naging effect nya. Pansin ko mas dumami yung dead mosquitoes hehe pero sandali ko lang nagamit kasi naubusan ng stock. Expect mo na mababahing sila during application lalo pag nirub sa katawan, avoid mo na lang sa facial area nila, suggested din to wear gloves and mask during application.

ive tried DE and it doesnt work. My wife and I have a pregnant s*** tzu and i bought two kilos of the food grade stuff because i read somewhere it can control ticks and fleas. Ive dusted it on our dog and around our room (saw ticks climbing up the walls) and after a week still the same

Good kennels say that before you bring home a puppy, dapat na injection ng Ivomec para hindi mag ka infestation ng ticks or fleas.

My vet cousin (Dr. James), told me Ivomec is injectable for prevention only. Pero if meron na talagang ticks/fleas hindi na kaya ng injectable. He recommended Revolution or Advantage.

^Ivomec, revolution, advantage, frontline, advocate, etc. can produce great results but we have to be very careful because these are all chemicals. Ivomec will stress their liver and kidney in the long run and most of the tick/flea solutions now contain pesticides. So imagine nyo na lang na yun ang nasa system ng mga alaga natin One more thing, if healthy ang dog, hindi sila lapitin ng parasites, so magfocus tayo in keeping them healthy para makaiwas sa parasites. They would be much healthier if we will limit the use of commercial products and stick natural methods kung hindi naman grabe ang infestation.

^^They say it will take time to completely get rid off ticks, I've read that it can take several months. And just like any natural product, the results will take a while unlike with spot ons, ilang hours lang nangingisay na ang ticks. I've tried DE with our dogs, sa mosquitoes sya effective, I'm thinking its maybe due to their anatomy, they are much fragile than ticks, so easier to die

among the many suggestions, i want to do this kasi simple lang.

Citrus repellent – Cut a lemon into quarters and put into a pint jar. Cover with boiling water and let steep overnight. Put the solution in a spray bottle and spray all over the dog, especially behind the ears, around the head, at the base of the tail and in the arm pits.

Nagawa ko yan before pero citronella ginamit ko, you can spray also sa cage nila para di lapitan ng insects. But I think nakakatulong din ang pagtapat ng e-fan to drive away pests. for the past 5 years na magkasama kami ng bulldog ko, hindi sya naging lapitin ng parasites, maybe he's got good genes or nakatulong ang healthy diet but I have a feeling na yung hangin din ng efan ang nagtataboy sa mga parasites hahaha!

baka giniginaw yung mga kuto sa electric fan. 

may citronella spray akong binili dati. pero na aantutan ako, hehe. masyadong matapang kaya di ko tinuloy pag gamit... yung lemon tingin ko is milder ang scent kaya mas magugustuhan ko.

haha hindi nila kinaya ang full power ni standard, in fairness kahit ang dugyot dugyot nya ang lakas pa rin ng hangin. naku ayoko na ngang batiin at baka biglang masira mapatakbo pa ako sa appliances ng di oras hahaha!

di ko rin feel ang amoy ng citronella, sa sesou pag inaamoy ko sila, naduduwal ako. pero kung magtataboy namang ng mga peste, keri na yan haha! btw, magkano na ba lemon ngayon, last time nasa 30/pc e. ano ba yan gusto ko tuloy ng lemonade haha!

Since summer kasi tick season....frontline doesnt work, DE didnt work either and since preggy dog namin no choice....every day kinukutuhan ko. Pag clean na ang dog then i hand it over to my wife para laro sila.
