TICKS! Please Help

sis abuanddeigo, thanks for the tips! my oldest dog maicah doesn't drink as much as the other three so i might try a teeny tiny bit more salt for her next time.
my dogs are small lang sis, so my vet also divides one pipette of Frontline for large breeds by noting down the  proper dosage according to their current weight.  usually aabot lang ng 4 doses per tube, and since i have four dogs, pang one month lang talaga ang one pipette. For now the spray bottle is ok with me because it does keep the ticks at bay (between the shoulders ko lang rin nilalagay except for spot treatments), although not as well as the pipette variant if i go out of town for a longer period, i'd prefer the pipette din for extra protection since i won't be able to personally do tick checks on my babies regularly.
i sometimes use essential oils diluted in a spray bottle as a natural tick repellent. i go after ticks with a vengeance talaga, hehe

Mga sis, try nyong gumamit ng SEVIN sa last banlaw ng mga furkids nyo. Iwas lang sa nose and eyes.
Mga 1-2tbs sa isang balde. Insecticides and SEVIN, kung natatakot naman kayo try nyo apple cider vinegar or white vinegar tapos water same ratio tapos ibabad nyo [textspeak!] aso nyo ng ilang minuto. Maasim ang amoy pero effective. Yung SEVIN ipahid or spray nyo na lang sa mga dingding, garden or sa tambayan ng furkid nyo

Yung dad ko sobrang tuwang tuwa yata sa tzu namin, DALAWANG BESES magpaligo everyday! Kaloka, nagbakasyon lang ako sa Palawan, pagbalik ko ganun na ang gawain! Eh kaka-Frontline lang sa kanya, baka wala nang effect lol. Pati skin baka dry na. Pagsabihan ko maya, kulit ng dad ko, hahaha. Naghihintay pa kasi ng May (balik work siya abroad) kaya sobrang inaaliw sarili sa dogs namin, lol.

cute kasi na name and easy on the ears, para ka lang nag baby talk, hehe.
naku, pagsabihan mo talaga dad mo kasi too much bathing is bad for dogs. It strips  their skin of its natural barrier against diseases. Give your dad a soft bristled brush/comb na lang or one of those rubber/silicone gloves that pick up loose fur

mga sis, do you think kailangan ko pa ipa-frontline dogs ko? kasi madalas sila maligo this summer (every three days) so hindi ba masasayang lang? dilemma naman eh diba uso ticks ngayon...

okay lang siguro sis, water repellant naman ang frontline. wag mo na lang sila sabunin, basain mo lang. ganun ginagawa ko sa bulldog, hinohose ko sya everyday kasi kahit may fan sya hinihingal pa rin.

Yung tinry ko ngayon is proticall, hindi sya sing-effective ng frontline. everyday ko chinicheck si Abu, mga 2-4pcs of ticks&fleas ang nakukuha ko, yung iba ang lalaki pa. Next time frontline na ulit gamitin ko.

Ayan, pina Frontline ko na sila. Dati lagi ko pa sila sinasama sa vet para alam ko weight, ngayon tinamad na ko, basta yung 20-40kg. Lol.

May nagsabi sakin sa Hobbes sa MOA daw eh mura yung isang box ng frontline, lalabas nasa less than 400 per applicator.

^sobrang init kasi ngayon kaya mabilis dumami yung mga ticks ng doggies.

^^bumili ako sa pet express, yung sa large breed, 450 ang isa, kapag buong box, ayun nga yata, parang 400 each lang.

by the way, malakas talaga ang frontline. my dog is 50kilos, dapat for extra large breed. ang binili kong frontline e yung pang large breed lang. in fairness, effective pa din. nawala totally at hindi pa ulit bumabalik yung fleas and ticks so i dont find it necessary na maglagay buwan buwan.

yup i agree, frontline seems to work better than other tick repellants. I'm also wary about using other brands kasi i've read a lot of horror stories from other pet owners using other brands - seizures, poisoning, etc...  so far wala pa ako narinig na severe reactions from frontline.
but as much as possible, i try to minimize my pets' exposure to harmful chemicals, so i also use natural essential oils.  it's only during tick season that i use frontline on them

^^matapang daw talaga ang frontline, sabi na rin sakin ng vet pati assistant nya. insecticide kasi sya kaya mabilis ang effect. baka pwedeng hindi full dose ang gamitin nyo next time, may mga nabasa ako na effective pa rin daw kahit ilessen yung dose. nung ginawa ko to sa shih tzu parasite-free talaga sya, laki ng natipid ko kasi nagamit ko ng 4 uses yung 1 pipette.

^as much as possible, organic products din ginagamit ko sa kanila. pero pag tick season, di na talaga kaya kaya no choice but to use commercial products. ang mahirap pa minsan sa organic is that most are oil/cream based so ang dumi tignan pati sahig namin ang lagkit. tapos summer season pa ngayon mas maiinitan sila kung papahiran ng oil.

^at ang bigat nya sa bulsa ha! :| biruin mo I have two big dogs, 430 each yan. plus our shih tzu, nasa 400 din yan (siguro i-large ko na lang to, yung method ninyo, since indoors naman siya). Prob ko kasi dati siguro nung mga rainy months, nakikitaan ko pa rin sila ng ticks! :| At ang laki ha! Kaloka...

Hindi pa rin ako makahanap ng unfiltered ACV kasi eh, kainis. Pag nakakuha ako nun, naku, ilimit ko na tong frontline.

Nagka-tick din maltese ko dati isang application lang ng frontline plus ginamit ko nawala na lahat ng ticks niya and until now ok pa rin at hindi na bumalik.

I'll still promote Kiltix collar Naubos talaga at pag may mga bago, lalo na ngayon summer, namamatay din agad. By the time na i-check namin, dying/dead na. Mas mura pa kesa mga spray/drops.

You can visit yung mga petshop sa Mall sis, meron sila nun lagi. Make sure you know the weight of your dog kasi dun yung basis ng dosage.

^Sis, sorry, I was referring to the Killtix Collar na sinasabi ni @j.adore. I've been using Frontline na kasi with my three puppies.

Sis minnie99, hindi siya advisable if you have more than one dog interacting with each other. Baka makain nila yung gamot na nasa collar.

Sa Animal House namin nabili around Php400 and it can last for at least 2 months daw. I'll let you know when we replace it more than a month pa lang kasi.

^sis pano kung sila mismo maglick sa katawan nila? nabasa ko na powder yung gamit dito, ano ba yun nagspread sa katawan or sa collar lang?

Sis abuanddiego, may parang powder sa collar pero ang caution ay wag yung colar mismo ang makain (kailangan dalhin sa vet kung nakain). Nagspread sa katawan kasi pati yung sa buntot at paa ng aso namin wala na ticks.
