Sobrang uso yung ticks kapag summer... Kawawa nga yung shi-tzu ko kasi meron din siyang ticks bago ko dinala sa tiende. Buti na lang nalagyan na siya ng frontline. Kaso 1 month lang yung effect so need na niya ulit maglagay ng ganon. Kasi nags-start na naman.

you have to clean and disinfected your dog's area and beddings.... nagka-ticks din dogs ko kasi nagka puppies yung dog ng neighbors. i think dun nanggaling... so frontline ko dogs ko once lang and i cleaned their area daily with bleach for a month siguro. ayun, totally wala ng ticks..

minsan may pa-isa-isa nakukuha ata sa pasyal sa tiende. pero no need for frontline.

clarification lang po... yung asuntol powder ba or liquid or bar soap? i-mix sa water then pwede pang-spray sa mga dogs and areas? do i need to rinse the area with water after i spray or just spray it?

i have frontline yung nilalagay sa nape. actually this will be their first dose. plan ko kasi to try asuntol on them sa interval nung frontline.

ano bang effective na anti-flea/tick shampoo? ang dami kasi sa mga pet store di ko naman lam kung alin yung effective sa kanila.

^I used the soap type since my dog is small.  You can then just soak the bar soap with water to clean the area where your dog frequents.

nag frontline din yung mga dogs namin pero one time lang. di na naman bumalik yung ticks nila.  We also did asuntol powder, mixed with water then last rinse na nila.

I had this problem last month, too. Major talaga. Meron na kasi ako nakukuha dati sa shihtzu ko pero pailan-ilan lang, and naaalis din kapag ginamitan ng anti-tick and flea shampoo. But after his grooming at the vet, June yata yun, I noticed ang dalas nya magkamot. So siguro may mga dumikit na eggs sa kanya. Until umabot na sa point na pati bahay namin ang daming ticks. Nakakaiyak. I decided na pagbakasyunin muna sya sa house nila boyfriend for a week, until such time na makapaglinis ng mabuti... Pagbalik ni Punky (my dog), naglabasan na naman sila kaya bumili kami ng spray, End of Fleas yung name (accdg. to the bottle, pwede rin sa ticks)... Okay sya at first but I noticed na di totally namamatay yung ticks... Now we're using Frontline spray. Mukhang mas effective.

My pets do not have ear mites, but I have decided to use this as my ear cleaner. If you do not have acv and alcohol, you may also use vinegar and water mixed in equal parts.

The vinegar helps control the growth of unfriendly bacteria and other microorganisms that are a common cause of ear infections, and as a result, this will help keep your pets from scratching their ears.

The best part is this ear cleaner is inexpensive and natural!

3. FLEA AND TICK KILLER

Apple cider vinegar can help get rid of fleas and keep them gone. If your dog has fleas, you can bathe him with your favorite pet shampoo and add the vinegar to the rinse water. The fleas will drown in the soapy water and the vinegar will help remove them from the fur. The ACV rinse will acidify your pet’s skin making it unpalatable to the nastiest ticks and fleas.

To keep the unfriendly fleas and ticks at bay, I add ACV in their drinking water to acidify their skin.

4. RELIEF FOR SKIN PROBLEMS

If your dog has itchy skin, the beginning of a hot spot, a developing callus, pimples on the skin surface and bruises too easily, the use of ACV may help you change things around.

For itchy skin or beginning hot spots, put ACV into a spray bottle, part the hair and spray on, avoiding the eye area. Any skin eruption will dry up in 24 hours and will save you having to shave the dog. If the skin is already broken, dilute ACV with an equal amount of water and spray on.

I recommend frontline generally it is the most effective means for combating fleas and ticks. Garlic is also an organic alternative but there is a garlic to weight ratio . I have that in an article somewhere but I just cant find that right now.

If you have ever had an infestation, you know you have to combat fleas from many angles to control and eliminate these hopping, opportunistic parasitic pests. One of the most powerful agents in reducing flea populations is one of the most safest is : SALT

Salt. Yes. Regular, everyday, plain old, put it on your fried eggs, salt. Can it be used effectively against large infestations of fleas? Yes. Salting and vacuuming your floors and furniture kills the flea’s eggs by dehydrating them. If you take this route-you will be pleased with results. You’ll have to be diligent and persistent with treatment to be really effective. But with patience(or focus and tenacity) it can be done.

I have also read about using borax. But the down side to borax is it can hold moisture. So using on your carpets can be a risk if you don’t get all of the powdered vacuumed up, it can lead to problems later.

Flea eggs hatch every 3 days, so by sprinkling your floors for at least 9 days, vacuuming each 3rd day for 9 days, takes you through the complete lifecycle of flea life. Be sure and empty your vacuum after each cleaning or the pests will just crawl back out and re-infest your home! You can also salt porches, doghouses and kennels to kill eggs & maintain flea control. Borax works as an alternative to salt but has a few cautions. In high humidity areas you may need to use a dehumidifier with the salt treatment for its use to be effective.

Got this from PAWS. It's a reply for someone asking how to deal with a dog with ticks when there's a baby in the house:

No need to put the dog out just because someone had a baby. If kept clean, the dog can stay inside the house.

Now that the dog has ticks, it is apparent that you have put him in a place which is infested with ticks. You need to get rid of the ticks in the general area first by cleaning it well (ask for a disinfecting agent called CARBARYL from reputable pet supply stores. This is used to clean areas infested with ticks and fleas).

Use MERIAL Frontline Plus for your dog. This is available in most veterinary clinics and pet supply stores.

Frontline as a dropper , I have found is more effective than the spray. Mostly because I have large working breeds and the spray just takes too long. If Frontline is no longer working Advantix and frontline combination may be an alternative you may want to look into.

I suggest asking your veterinarian first if this is something that should be done. My vet here recommended it because I needed to make sure my kennel was erlichea free and maintaining a tick free environment gets a little tricky once you get 35+ dogs to maintain. So it may be a little overkill.

Personally, I feed my personal dog garlic mixed into some blended malungay. Then I add frontline to her shoulders once a month to every 6 weeks (depending on the weather and where we are training ).

Anyway, Frontline spray helped a lot in removing ticks from my shih tzu... Para sa mga ticks that walked around the house, nag-spray lang ako ng Baygon sa mga gilid-gilid while my dog is outside para di nya malanghap.

Nagtry kami ng ACV (mixed with water) na pangrinse ng shih tzu ko sa paligo, effective! bibihira na yung lumalapit sa kanyang kuto at garapata. Unlike dati na ayaw talaga siya tantanan. May slight sour smell nga lang sa balat niya ngayon, pero okay na muna yun para gumaling naman yung tick bites niya. Hindi yung maya-maya ang kagat sa kanya, kawawa naman.

And while we're doing the ACV rinse, we're also cleaning the house a lot, mopping the floor with petguard solution and using a tick & flea powder sa tulugan niya.

^yep! acv is good din pati sa coat nila and parang mas tolerable yung smell kaysa doggy smell talaga.
